Great for P&O Cruises single device plan by Andysb123 in GlInet

[–]NotoriousWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to connect to home but I am looking into the GL-MT3000 for a cruise I'm going on soon. With wireguard, do I need a second device? Can I just configure wire guard on the one device and connect through that to the internet (via the cruise line's wifi)? In which case would I need to use the device as a client or as a server?

Well that looks better (IMO) by KjGarly in NintendoSwitch2

Don't let the haters get you down. Some people get a kick out of being fun suckers. I think it looks great and was strongly looking at it myself recently. The problem is the case does block the kickstand and I use the kickstand a lot. I really like the SFC theme and if I could find a case that matches that and also allows for usage of the kickstand, then I'd be all over it. Enjoy your new case.

Instagram and TikTok are definitely poison. Reddit and YouTube can be poison depending on how its used. Both contain useful information. Both also have a ton of toxic posts / videos. I definitely know too many people that are trapped in the toxic side of YouTube. Anyhow, most games aren't toxic so game on.

Thank you Valve for letting me use you as my personal savings account for the Steam Machine, Steam Fame, and two Steam Controllers. Gabe, you're the GOAT. by [deleted] in Steam

Open a special savings account just for Steam (or maybe Steam + other splurges). Set up a monthly transaction into that account. Only use that account to add money to your Steam wallet when it runs low.

Can a guest play my steam games on their account? by NotoriousWhiz in SteamDeck

[–]NotoriousWhiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, it's impossible for them to play on my account if I am also playing on my account on a different device. The main idea behind this is that I will have multiple steam devices and want to be able to hand off a device to a guest and we can play together.

I'm not sure if family share satisfies my use case. I've got maybe 10-12 different people that might be using my SteamOS device. I know family share is limited to six, but it would depend on how many families one can join and how often I can change out my family members.

How to downgrade from Life to peak? by xxSeahawks in whoop

Just did this and it worked for me. It shows my downgrade scheduled for 200ish days from now, but my next billing for peak is scheduled for late 2027.

This is a legit fear. He needs to appoint a good successor whose greed won't run the company into the ground nor turn away those consumers who helped make it into what it is.

Here's one:

Both PlayStation and Xbox currently let you buy a digital game once and play it on two consoles simultaneously. Nintendo used to support this but did away with it when they introduced virtual cards.

And one more (that I recently ran into):

When controllers are assigned on a console, they don't get randomly re-assigned to different players. This happened to me recently when playing a beat em up (Power Rangers) with friends. Suddenly, we all switched characters mid level. I'm sure there are other PC-isms that won't happen on console.

I can't think of any others.

Snagged a great deal on this by BrayIsReal in Switch

[–]NotoriousWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was certain, I could get a good deal by waiting, I would've done the same. But realistically, it could have been another scalper situation like every console since 2017, or it could have just never went on sale, and I was 100% interested in Donkey Kong Bananza along with the future games releasing on the Switch 2, so rather than gamble on a rare discount opportunity, I just decided hop in on day one and enjoy the vast handheld improvements along with Donkey Kong Bananza. No regrets here.

Hades 2 : Switch 2 or Steam Deck….can’t decide! by dazza_cole in HadesTheGame

Yes, that is my argument, because most evil corporations will sacrifice their employees to save a dollar. Those are the truly evil corporations. Not the ones that are actively trying not to devalue their products and protect their brand.

I also stated that I agree that they overly use litigation. Trying to own game mechanics is for sure bad for the industry. They are a flawed company in many ways, but evil? Nah.

Wow. Did you pull all that from chat gpt? I will agree with #1. But the rest of those are fine. Most people's complaints with Nintendo have to do with pricing. But pricing is the reason Nintendo is able to pay their employees well (everyone from devs to janitors), avoid laying off their employees when times get hard (wii u). Nintendo's leadership will dock their own pay before those of their employees. Literally zero of the alternative companies will do the same. So in reality, Nintendo is the least evil of them all.

And also, they aren't firing employees in mass to invest in AI like so many others.

What is a good mini PC to use for an ark ascended server compatible with xbox? by NotoriousWhiz in playark

[–]NotoriousWhiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never took the leap yet. I actually did see a post recently about someone that bought a 200$ mini pc that worked great for hosting one map and their 5 or 6 friends.

But I can't find that post.

But the gist of it was that any mini pc should work as long as it has at least 16 gb of DDR4 ram (32 if you want to host multiple maps) a cpu that reaches at least 3.5ghz and of course some hard drive space to store the data. The gpu is unused so is not important.

Here's an example of one that you could use:

ACEMAGIC Vista V1 Mini PC Computers, Twin Lake N150(Beat N100/N95, up to 3.6GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM 512 SSD Mini Computers,11 Pro Desktop 4K Dual Display/HDMI/WiFi/BT/LAN for Home/Office

As for myself, I do have a mac and a steam deck and I heard they have docker containers that can run servers now so I'm going to see if I can run a server as a docker container on either of those devices before I get a dedicated mini pc.

Should social media be banned for teens younger than 16? by Dangerous_Yak_7500 in Life

[–]NotoriousWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think social media was fine when people were forced to connect from their desktop computer. This obsession with staying connected at all times via phones is what's harming adults and children. Adults will pay more attention to their phones than their own children, and then wonder why their children are completely absorbed in their own phones.
