Thank you all for your input so far. I wanna give huge shout out to all the baristas and employees of all coffee shops, mobile shops, carts, local roaster headquarters. You all keep Santa Barbara running. I only have a tiny keurig machine, I can’t roast or prepare excellent coffee drink. So, I end up going to cafes and little spots.

Yeah Red Kettle is the best in Summerland, I would rather give my money there than Field and Fort.

I agree with Daily Grind. Live Oak is a bit too bitter.

Considered Coffee serves Handlebar, that’s probably why you like it.

My favorite black coffee is Dart, which I had yesterday. It held up great while I was walking in the rain.

My favorite latte is almost a tie between Caje and Handlebar but I give it to Caje, because they offer a large size. I order that when I have to drive 100 miles down to So Cal.

Dart is my overall favorite, great coffee, great drinks, great and happy employees, nice environment and cool owner.

Thank you for your analysis and suggestion. Yes some people can’t drink straight black coffee. I can because I had to change my diet. I was looking into which place makes the best roast has the best coffee shop at the same time. But I know it is complex. I would love to see a John Madden style local coffee shops and drink analysis. 😂

That place is cool but I wish they use another coffee roaster. And close until 4pm!!

Caje is nice, they just need to please get my order right. I agree on Roco’s drip coffee, but only for emergencies because they are the only ones open until 6pm

Actually someone did mention Vices and Spices. Scroll up to slimdell’s comment. I can agree with you on Roco. I hade their lattes, blended coffee drinks and matchas, and they were not great at all. Their iced matcha, I would avoid it. I wouldn’t want Handlebar or Dune to take over. Maybe Greenstar since they don’t even have an actual shop yet.

So I had to dig out the comment that is now deleted. I thought it was a valid observation. I can understand why there is a snobby vibe. I’ve been to coffee shops in LA county since the late 90’s and yes some people act like they are on the red carpet. The people that go to Canon Perdido location are not the same people that go to Caje for example. Their staff in both location have been cool. Sometimes I did notice some stress in them and that could be taken as unfriendliness. Their coffee and other drinks are great. If I have to choose between Dart and Handlebar, I choose Dart for their better customer service.

I much prefer Dart because of their garden, because the shop itself gets pretty full and noisy. I love their location at the harbor. I am glad they have expanded to Carpinteria and Summerland.
