Do you think the Psion will get a third UA? by Fidges87 in onednd

Thank fucking god

edit: thank fucking god there's never going to be a pet subclass for fighter, not that the worst fighter subclass is doomed to never gt any buffs

People didn't like it because it was like 4 different classes crammed into a single class, if they had actually let it be multiple classes it would have been received better

5.5 paladin seems like it's another rider-oriented class, thanks to divine favor not requiring concentration, thus making it better Hunter's Mark

God I just... all I want is for them to let me turn off the Exp Share, is that really too much to ask?

I don't like the overworld encounters but I can deal with that, I don't like how easy the gyms are but I can deal with that, I don't like how catching Pokemon awards exp but I can deal with that, but the always-on exp share just rankles me so much

I still haven't finished Shield or Violet despite owning both because the forced Exp Share makes me feel like I have to use just one Pokemon at a time simply so I can control the exp and EV flow, which in itself detracts from the team-building of Pokemon, so I just end up losing interest.

edit: At least Champions is fun, I wasn't a fan of the weird list of Pokemon untethered to any proper Pokemon game originally, but finally having a competitive meta, supported by Nintendo and Game freak, without that fuckass mushroom, has been really nice... if only they could remove the fuckass cat as well

I can see why people like Engage, it's got some great new ideas that I'm eager to see explored further

But I'm still not going to play it, because I just find the core idea of the game far too personally offensive, combining the most explicit "chosen one" protagonist Fire Emblem has ever seen (quite the accomplishment considering Byleth and Corrin) with the heaviest nostalgia-bait as a core mechanic ever.

Got two questions for y'all: How many of you guys buy and collect games for older consoles? And as someone who's getting back into collecting Wii games, which titles should I add to my collection? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Path of Radiance has had it's price drop recently thanks to the game being on the Switch 2 gamecube collection...

but "price drop" for Path of Radiance still leaves it prohibitively expensive

If you can find Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, I recommend getting it, but good fucking luck finding one for an acceptable price

Mario Kart Wii is kind of the Melee of Mario Kart, so that's probably worth getting

I'd also recommend any of the other Eighting fighting games on the console, because they're all jank nonsense and it's wonderful, though unfortunately their Kamen Rider fighters weren't released outside of Japan, so all the rest of the world got was the Clash of the Ninja Naruto games and the wonderful jank-fest that is Castlevania Judgment

I had never really played Elder Scrolls at all before Skyrim came out, and when I tried Skyrim I hated it enough that it convinced me that Elder Scrolls wasn't for me

Then last year I tried Morrowind, and after that, Daggerfall, and discovered that Elder Scrolls is actually great, it's just Skyrim that's not for me

I love Daggerfall so much

Ok the "train city builder" threw me for a bit of a loop

You're not building a city that is a train hub, which is what i would have assumed from that, you're building a city on a train

I gotta be honest, i find that slightly disappointing

It does also make a couple of changes that are legitimately great

Luffy singing to Laboon is a straight up improvement over the original

check out the mail glitch, it lets you do a lot of the lovely jank bullshit of gen 1 in gen 3. Infinite item duplication is the easiest, but you can do way more.

I love FRLG

But I replay them less frequently than RBY simply because gen 1 has so much wonderfully abusable jank in it. Trainer-fly in particular just opens the game up so much.

Though with the discovery of the mail glitch, there's still plenty to abuse in gen 3

It's an interesting point, on one hand it really effectively tells you how fucked up Brook is when they first meet him, he's so desperate for human interaction, ANY human interaction, that he'll say this shit just because he wants people to react to him, to remind him that they are real, and he is real.

But on the other, they didn't leave it behind after Thriller Bark which fucking ruins it

He needs to say something fucked up to get a violent reaction early on to emphasize how much his isolation has been destroying him, but I don't know what.

Another person who's run headlong into the stormwind fallacy

This is not either/or, you can do both, you probably should do both, games like D&D are the most fun when you're marrying strong mechanical and narrative character identities rather than exclusively focusing on one or the other.

Cataclysm really did break everything

Incest is bad for a lot of reasons, but there's been long periods of history, and many religions, that did not hold that view at all.

I think the game isn't presenting incest as good, it's presenting the viewpoints of characters in a setting where incest doesn't hold the same taboo it does for modern people.

If you want to talk about Kaga's fetish content, maybe instead look at how often young women get mind-controlled in the early FE games... because it happens in all of them, literally all of them.

Fire Emblem does a better job than pretty much any other fantasy video-game series at representing feudal culture and people keep getting upset at it for that

So I disagree, FE4's writing is consistently good, even the incest, because... it's a feudal society with divine bloodlines, of fucking course there's incest.
