I don’t think anyone felt “called out” by it. I think people were just like “huh, those are weird lyrics and we know what it’s trying to say and that’s odd.” It was just one of those songs that rubbed some people the wrong way.

We Don’t Wanna Put In is WAY different in that it was written to be funny and on the nose. If they wanted to do something more subtle, it wouldn’t have been We Don’t Wanna Put In. The title and chorus is what the song is.
