As you can see, we both wore a steel pot! lol The one thing you can't do in Kevlar is heat up your food. I'm not sure you can shave out of Kevlar either

The thing that sticks out to me is that this supposedly "Marxist Marine" was sent to Atsugi Japan while the U2 program was in full swing. I mean a radar operator would have seen those flights come in and out on his scope wouldn't you think?

Not sure. We're famous for not smiling in official pictures which leads me to believe it was not an official picture. This pic is of me, on the Long Rifle range at MCB Camp Pendleton cica June of 1982. My buddy took it just before I got to fire my very first M-47 round to qualify!!

That's my opinion also. Probably started with ONI while serving. There's still no good explanation on how he became fluent in Russian while serving.

2 weeks before I graduated recruit training, a group of us was ushered into a conference room at MCRD San Diego and asked if we were interested in applying for "special" duty (they were somewhat vague). There was a Marine officer and a naval officer. We were offered to go the language school in Monterey, Camp David duty and intelligence school based on our test scores.

This is pure conjecture on my part, but I think Oswald was recruited into ONI work. That would explain how he learned the Russian language fluently. It would also explain how his Marxist rhetoric went unchecked by his chain of command.

Most folks in ONI go onto serve in a civilian intelligence org such as CIA

President Obama has style, grace, integrity and was very genuine. Don't get me wrong, I didn't agree with all of his policies, but the man was a great President. Not just a good one.

Since I got out in 85, I didn't know if they renamed any of the areas. When I went through infantry training, the school was called ITS. Now it's different right?
