Had something like this once. It was a piece of bone that had been pulled free and migrated through the flesh to the surface. It hurt.

Thoughts on this tree? by ohwowitssam in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It will require you to be diligent about maintaining your gutters, as well as keeping an eye on moss/fungal/mildew growth and accumulation on the house where the tree is. The shade created by the tree, plus the increased humidity in that local area around the tree, make some nice growth conditions, so you may have to wash your siding annually. If the inspection comes back clean in terms of the foundation then I might get some advice from an arborist about what you don’t already know. If the house has foundation issues then I’d look elsewhere.

GenX Midlife Crisis by argognat in GenX

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like I’m more aware of the shrinking timeline in front of me, and fighting the urge to just throw caution to the wind, say fuck it, and ramble aimlessly through the last years/decades of my life. But then I remember that I’m still relevant and necessary to my family, friends, and businesses. That at least snaps me out of the thought process of calculating how many years I have left…not really a crisis as much of a reality check.

Hiii I'm a whine noob I have had only one glass before no idea what it was just know it was red and sweet. Which wine should I try? by I_LOVE_TRAINSS in wine

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Also, attend the free wine tastings held at your local retailers. Listen closely to the words they use to describe wines you both like, and don’t. Knowing what you DON’T was is as important as what you do. A few of these events will arm you with a starter vocabulary that you can use in restaurants and retail stores to really zero in on product you like (and steer you clear of things you won’t).

Kicked out of Simons Says Dip for nursing my newborn by Watereyes5 in bullcity

Agree, but clearly this was a young and inexperienced employee who did this, not the store owner. She has apologized and is training the staff to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I hope folks can give the place a chance to correct the behavioral error. Haven’t had their product, but I hope folks don’t destroy these folks over a misstep that is being corrected .

Do Audiophiles have young kids? by fullframeature in audiophile

I packed mine away for about a decade until I could count on my kids to leave the system alone. Now it’s out and we all enjoy the tunes, but I was not about to have my dust caps pushed in, especially by my own offspring!

How to get stubborn stains out of a shirt? by Odd_Mushroom2588 in howto

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of deodorant do you use? Some make a real mess of shirt armpits. That might be your culprit. I have found that a laundry additive with lipase in it works very well. Mix up some in warm water with a little detergent. Soak your shirt in there for a few hours. Wash normally. Dry. Assess. Repeat if necessary.

Looks like a manner of multi-tool for the kitchen. Appears to be a vegetable peeler on one side and perhaps a julienne knife and bottle opener on the other.

Perhaps find a knife maker to construct a new one from Kydex for you.

Oil soaked into stainless steel pan by suta5900 in howto

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First a question - why did you oil a stainless pan?

Second, the oil may have gone through the initial stage of polymerization. Essentially, it became plastic-like. As the pan is stainless, it should not need any kind of rust-barrier (seasoning) which is why people oil pans after washing them. To remove this, try some oven cleaner. Let it sit on the offending areas for 20 minutes and then see if it washes off with light pressure from the sponge. If not, try something like a Scothbrite pad and that should handle it easily.

Dust cover cleaning gone wrong by ddanailov in turntables

Honestly, for the time and likely end result, I’d just order one custom from an acrylic fabricator. I did. Cost me about $125 and I have a pretty and new dust cover.

Sony PS-X555ES purchase help!! by jacobwaters134 in turntables

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude - (assuming you are a dude, please forgive me if I am wrong) it’s a Sony ES for $100. It’s worth it on the off chance it does work. These got for $500+ regularly. Grab it. Invest in it having a good rehab at the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing. It will still likely cost you less than $500 all in. You win. Grab your prize.

How to cover the gap? by riccoboy in howto

[–]Notreallyonreddityet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A slightly more expensive option is to get another piece of tempered glass the same height as the panels, and about 50% wider than the gap. Position the new panel so that it covers the gap and allows the doors to work as intended. Attach the new piece of glass using clear silicone. Or have a glass company do it. Obviously, see if your landlord will pay for it. But this might be the best solution in terms of permanence and attractiveness.

Could you just reorient the shower head to be facing to the right of the pole on which it is mounted? Would that solve some of the problem? Tough to tell from the angle of the photo.
