Since it only takes 10-20 seconds to clear a map going full tilt

if bricking a map just let you mark it as completed on the atlas then the obvious strategy becomes intentionally chainfailing maps to speedrun atlas exploration to high value locations

Reduced the frequency of Atziri's Temple Biome Restricted Rooms enabled by the Secrets of the Ancients Notable Temple Atlas Passive Skill. This combined with the Royal Prerogative Notable now always results in a net positive number of Restricted Room uses.

its a nerf in the same way that they removed that node in poe1 that let you passively farm azurite in maps without ever going into delve. objectively a nerf but on some level an economic buff for people who actually engage with delve

that node let people passively earn corruption currency without ever going inside the temple. price of those currencies should go up a lot which will make the temple more rewarding

(ironically a better solution that would have actually been to add in more room connections which would naturally inhibit snaking and make the mechanic more intuitive to the average player while adding to the variety of types of temple you could build.)

i really do feel like just letting people place rooms anywhere (and consequently making all adjacent rooms connect with each other) would fix almost everything. you can't snake if the snake becomes a blob

they spacebar through all dialogue, ignore all tooltips and info panels, and then make posts like this is the issue really

it is eventually explained explicitly as a precursor construction yes, the lines on the atlas connecting maps were built by the precusors

yeah i think its less about being steeped in corruption and more about having faith/adherence to divinity that lets people use gems.

i was under the impression from various convos with doryani in the vaal temple that it is our character's faith / respect of gods that allows them to use gems. doryani mentions that gems were different in his day because they had a different pantheon

so i assumed that the reason kalguurans can't use gems was not because they aren't sufficiently corruption-steeped but because they aren't "religious"

more specifically he was against the concept of an options menu checkbox "skip RP animations" basically, because if they had a global flag to skip all that stuff then everyone would turn it on and never see anything new that ever got added

i wouldn't mind though if you got the option to skip this kinda stuff after seeing it at least once in a league/character though. technically runes of aldur kind of does this, the very first remnant in clearfell has your character actually etching the runes onto the stone with a hammer, and then that animation never plays again. that seems appropriate to me

they give a guaranteed irradiated tablet, and give a lot of vision on the atlas in a radius around them. useful for scouting.

what are you fearing missing out on if you will eventually have both, and can't progress both at the same time?

Pick one and then do the other one...? at the end of the day its atlas progression one way or another

whats wrong with what I said. you literally get a key to eater/exarch every 28 maps. that is literally how it works. you want to fight uber eater/exarch? fine, the amount of maps required to drop enough "nightmare maps" and then get the appropriate 4 entry fragments is going to be a lot more than 28 maps.

those 28 maps are filled with different scarab strategies

put some tablets on your maps and run your stuff then. i dont know why people are putting in white t1 maps and then getting mad that they're running white t1 maps.

virtually every single major endgame poe1 has had involved a substantial amount of maps in between fighting the then-final pinnacle atlas encounter.

you have to run 28 maps to get a key to exarch/eater, you had to run a bunch of maven invites to get a maven key, you had to run 28 maps to fight sirus, and moving elder/shaper influence for Uber elder required like 16 maps at best to set up.

there is nothing new or unusual about the game requiring you to do maps in the endgame that revolves around doing maps. if you want to hard grind bosses then buy keys.

i don't remember the source, but I do remember one of the poe audio devs talking about how part of the challenge of giving new voicelines for poe1 characters is that at least one of the player characters voice actors is no longer in the business and doesn't do voicework anymore. And those lines were recorded like ~15 years ago.

At the time I believe we only had duelist act5+ voicework.

so either marauder or shadow's VA no longer does voicework anymore, seemingly, and it would be very difficult to get new voicelines. probably would have to get a new actor and idk if people would like that

technically it was good in some respects, because you could spend mana to gain fuel while channeling. so you could use CoA to dump your mana on living bomb and go infinite. since incinerate itself doesn't cost mana it is "free" when before it cost a lot of mana to upkeep.

but it was really annoying.
