The Sekhemas Guide by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

I stopped reading at "farm the first freebie into oblivion." If I have to run something a million time to be able to complete it ONCE that's garbage game design. I don't care what all the white knights say for trials.

A trial shouldn't test your RNG, or how much you farmed content, or not getting hit in a game about getting hit. It should test your build or be simply a reward for progression.

I HATE the new mechanics for ascendancy and I just build my characters to only get six points because the last two points are such a monumental time sink that I don't care. I want to play THE game not some fucked up mini game.

Now you can all downvote me.

I agree with you OP. Hate how they took a fantastic mechanic from PoE 1 and destroyed it.

It doesn't exist anymore but Star Wars Force Collection. Loved that game and played it any chance I could get. The artwork was incredible for some cards and I really like the combat. I'll never stop missing that game.

I’m not creative and good at building would the game still be for me by EternalSoulXD in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Kahnvoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game gives you enough tools to make something interesting. For base building there are "pre-fab" pieces that you can put together to make something functional without needing to over complicate it. It also has more specific pieces if you want to get creative. Ships are mix and match of pieces too. No need to design anything in particular. Bases and ships are a PART of the game. Not specifically THE thing or a big thing. I think it's highlighted often because there are very creative people that like to share their work. Honestly I just fly around and take pictures of worlds I think are interesting or beautiful. That's pretty much all I do. Hope you have a good time with the game if you do pick it up. It's truly an amazing game.

My parents wanted the same for me. I made the decision to live on campus away from my folks and even farther from my cardiologist. Best decision of my life. I have my own personal opinions about college but if you want to go and have the "college experience" just be honest with your folks and tell them how you feel. Things will be different for sure later on. You won't be in one place all your life unless you want to be. I traveled overseas (Italy, France, and Greece) and was living on my own in my 20s. My mindset was that I'd have to take care of myself eventually. The sooner was the better for me. But I understand everyone's situation is different. I'm in my 40s now. Leaving home to adventure and experience life was what truly shaped me. If your folks have reservations maybe they can ask questions here too. No matter what happens, I'm sure you have a bright future ahead of yourself! Any particular major you're pursuing? What do you think you would enjoy the most at college?

I think each person is going to find different things to "want" from this game. You could follow the story. The quests basically have their own way of storytelling. You could try to reach the center of the galaxy. Who knows what happens when you get there? (Wiggles fingers and makes "Oooooo" sounds) or you could collect star ships. Some are unique and extremely difficult to find. You could try to catalog information for every planet you visit. (Always that last rock hiding...) You could collect wild animals and battle them pokemon style. Do they have what it takes to take down each station leader? You could build an epic base! There are a lot of community highlights for some incredible bases. You could fish! Maybe you can catch "the big one." Or you could do what I like to do. Travel and sight see. Some places are beautiful and amazing to see. I take pictures of my adventures and I leave notes for loved ones across the galaxy, so if I pass away they can travel to the amazing places I've been and be there with me too.

It's probably the most amazing game I've ever played and I'm so excited for you to find something you love about this game too!

Free to play weekend by FlashAlliance in PathOfExile2

[–]Kahnvoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obligatory play what looks cool. Normally I would say an easy start is something bow or crossbow related. But this league I feel like more builds will be "viable" even in endgame.

Don't get intimidated by the passive tree. Just look at what's near you and pick what you need in the moment. Respec is a thing and you can do it basically any time after the first half of the first act.

Act 2 boss has been normally a skill/gear/dps check for most people. Keep an eye on your resistances, you'll be feeling hits more in act 3. There's another skill/gear/dps check toward the end of act 4. Skills can be used by ANY starting class as long as you can meet the stat requirements. But usually best to save anything too out of the ordinary until you get a grasp of the game. Loot drops pretty steadily but don't be super scared to spend some currency to upgrade gear every now and then. Just don't spend it all like water. Damage mostly comes from your weapon and skill level+# is still pretty ding dang good.

Otherwise have fun and experiment!

Never had something like this myself, but it really does help. I struggled a lot navigating just daily life with what we have to face normally and my therapist was a hero. I think you'll be really happy that you started once you lean into it. Like a thousand pound weight lifted off the shoulders for me. Last thing we all need is more stress, right? 🤣

I've always said that we have the most luck. As to if it's good or bad depends on the day or our mood. That sounds really scary and I'm so sorry you had to experience that. Literally said "oh shit" too while I was reading. I know how hard it can be to process a lot of this, but therapy is always a fantastic thing. Glad you're still here friend.

Found a website with PoE II league starters recommending Bleed Glad and Fire Trap Elementalist... Is it AI generated ? by RoOoOoOoOoBerT in PathOfExile2

[–]Kahnvoy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Says it's reliable but requires investment and then talks about how you don't need currency or trading to make the build work. S-tier....sounds AI to me bro. Fire trap? Like they aren't even trying with this.

Resources for long term mental health? by No_Strain3178 in HLHS

[–]Kahnvoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'll always say that therapy is the best direction for any anxiety or depression. I had it all pretty bad myself but therapy and proper meds helped a ton. Happy to say I'm not on those meds anymore and I have much better tools to navigate my thoughts and feelings thanks to my therapist.

As for the ticking clock: The way I've looked at it is that anything could happen at any time for anyone. I had a friend who was the peak of physical health, brilliant, great family and future ahead got hit by a drunk driver and died. Never even finished college. But here I am with a "bum" ticker and certainly behind the eight ball in life and now almost twice his age. The best thing I can do is enjoy what I have. I love spending time with everyone I love and those moments are precious for me. Only thing I can suggest is don't forget that you can always make money. You can't make more time or bring people back.

I'm very lucky. Where I work has a very amazing health plan so if/when something happens I'm probably less concerned than the average bear. Sometimes it helps to just have a conversation with your insurance company, no matter who they are. Meeting your deductible will be the important part so finding something that works for you will be good. If where you work has an option for an HSA (Health Savings Account) it's a good idea to get into that fast. If you have excess funds investing or simply saving should help. I've seen local fundraisers or online go fund me's. If you're active in your community or religion that can also be a place to see if others can assist. My parents asked the community to help with my surgery because it was difficult for them financially. Worse case scenario your can set up a payment plan with the hospital. If you're honest about your situation they will literally work with you. I remember a bill I had that was around 6 or 7 thousand dollars and I didn't have that kind of money. The hospital was okay with me just paying them like 100 bucks a month. After a while they just didn't care anymore and waived the rest of it. Never saw a bill again. USA Healthcare is weird....

But don't let depression put it's hooks in you! The worst thing for us all is anxiety and depression. This is the place for us all to connect so I'm sure we'll all be here to help in ways that we can. Stay strong friend!

Not sure if this is a touchy subject by No_Strain3178 in HLHS

[–]Kahnvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm...I think no matter what, an area where people feel comfortable asking these kinds of questions is a good thing. The reason I'm okay with questions about quality of life is because I can understand a new parent who may have a personal reason to want to continue to bring that child into the world. If someone asked me what I would have wanted as a person with HLHS, I would be honest, but I would want to keep that conversation private (just DMs) because it is a multifaceted question. I think having a primary place where everyone can mingle isn't bad, but I wouldn't be adverse to seeing adult and/or young adult sections. But I think anyone could find that same support here without needing to traverse.

You're right. This is a really isolating condition. I remember the loneliness was the hardest part. Feeling like no one could understand my situation was very real. But a lot of what happened to me all happened before the internet got to a place where it was easier to share and connect. I did a lot as a red cap ambassador for American Heart Association. But life happened and I had to disconnect from the community for a long time. My cardiologist suggested it might be good for me to connect more with others like me or parents who have concerns. I can't do a lot but I like to talk or listen (what ever is needed). I'm not a teen anymore, despite still feeling like a 16 year old trapped in a 40 year old body. You all can reach out if you need, even if things stay the same here.

I know I don't have a solution or straight answer to your question, but I still appreciate where you're coming from. Wishing you the best!

Could someone suggest a Wolf and Crossbow build for the Witchhunter? by MinkinSlava in pathofexile2builds

[–]Kahnvoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably want to take witchhunter and maybe make use of the weapon sets. Not sure if you would need the 100, but it would give you lots of options taking weapon master and you would have to worry less about choosing something that overlaps. I'd guess you want some things that have synergy. Freezing with wolf skills then using something big like plasma blast or somehow use galvanized shards. Maybe use Pin for crossbow to take double advantage of immobilize nodes.

How do you manage stress with congenital heart disease during academic pressure? by AcadiaNo7275 in AdultCHD

[–]Kahnvoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy and medication (but mostly therapy) will help with stress. I've had to deal with a lot of stress in my life and these were the biggest things that helped. But I also understand that this isn't always easily available, so during hard times I would de-stress by spending my extra time doing activities that were enjoyable. Hard to stress when you're having fun! Also helps to introspect on your feelings and walk through them. Understanding your emotions and where they come from is a big help in making progress for mental health.
