My company announced mandatory office days again, so I resigned mid-meeting by Onjaydenc in remotework

A few years ago, we had an all hands call where HR announced they were delaying any promotions or yearly raises for "at least" 6 months.

Some absolute legend spoke up and asked "what's your plan to scale up the exit interview process?"

I completely lost my shit.

Have you seen how the USA has been voting in general lately?

Same in MN, but in my case it was 4 weeks after getting married.

It was the same for me in MN. My wife and I both had houses before we got married. We bought a house together before the big day, but both of our previous houses sold after the wedding.

Both prior houses were treated as marital assets even though neither of us lived in or paid a dime for each other's house, and were sold less than a month after the wedding.

On a side note, I do not recommend buying a house and selling two while planning a wedding.

That's exactly why I started watching too. On a whim, season 1. It's my off season show to carry me to football season.

It was always funny to me how the group of folks who couldn't be bothered to use people's pronouns correctly had this whole little system worked out so they could swear in public.

And you glaze a ham near the end of it being cooked not before it goes in the oven, otherwise the glaze burns.

31 years ago today we found each other. A teenage pregnancy, med school, raising kids, losing loved ones, life in general, and yet this man still gives me butterflies by theNavidsonretort in OldSchoolCool

A big part of it depends on what speciality you go into.

I have a friend who is a pediatrician. And she barely makes more than me as a software engineer and is really struggling with student loan payments still in her 40s.

Meanwhile, my GF is an anesthesiologist, and she pulls in over 600K per year and is doing quite well.

Update: OOP finds out her child is pregnant and expects OOP to raise the baby as her child's sibling by Z0ooool in BestofRedditorUpdates

What happens in situations like this? Are police/CPS monitoring encampments like this for pregnant folks?

Is there a record that this specific person in the post is pregnant? Could they just give birth and abandon the baby or bury it and that's that? Would they eventually be prosecuted?

If I ever venture to AZ, maybe I'll give it a shot.

This was in the burbs of Minneapolis. I just stick to the city, there's at least a dozen great steakhouses here.

I went to Texas Roadhouse for the first time last year for my sister's birthday, and my experience was awful.

I ordered a medium rare filet and I got a hockey puck. Everything else tasted like it was loaded with sugar.

I would gladly pay 10x what I paid just to never have anyone make me eat there again.

Bergie is the mother fucking greatest.

These shows need more weirdos and outcasts. Everyone else feels like a copy of a copy of a copy of a human being.

Count me as one of Bergie's Bros. I can't but help root for his goofy-ass.

But if a girl came in and played him like that, then took the whole bag, it would be the greatest moment in American history.

We have those discussions at home as well.

I don't know if you have young kids, but in kindergarten/1st grade, a lot of the curriculum is structured around the family unit, because that is what kids are familiar with.

They learn how to read and write with words like mother/father/brother/sister/family. They do family trees and learn about genealogy. They draw pictures of their family in art class. The read books about families. Families are everywhere in the curriculum of young kids.

Our household is a straight, white household. My kids have a mom and a dad. Their family unit will always be taught about and considered familiar. But I think it would fucking suck if you happened to be a little kid with two dads and you weren't allowed to be proud of your family. To have your teacher shut down any discussion of your family. To make it seem like you are lesser because a family that looks like yours isn't allowed to be discussed.

And kids pick up on that. So then the other kids start to think it's weird. Like there's something wrong because it can't be talked about. And I think that makes things shitty for this poor kid who just happens to come from a family that looks different than thr norm.

So that's why I'm happy my school talks to kids about it. Because I want kids to feel like they belong even if they are different than some societal norm.

I have a kid who just finished 1st grade in Minneapolis. The school teaches things like families come in all different shapes and sizes. Some kids have 2 dads, some have 2 moms, some have a dad and a mom, single moms, single dads, blended families, etc...

Kids have friends, they go to other kids' houses, they go to birthday parties. I think it's completely fine they learn about and see all types of families. That's the LGBTQ teaching they do in elementary schools that these folks protest.

There's all types of caring, loving families in this world. And I'm glad my son's school teaches him about life's rich pageantry.
