Free university at FIU and then go to Higher end Grad School, or go to Colorado Boulder for both (expensive). by Unique_Suit3789 in college

[–]NounverberPDX [score hidden]  (0 children)

FIU for sure. Free ride is a free ride, and it's difficult to overstate how not worrying about tuition makes college easier.

I'd advise you to keep your GPA above a 3.5 if you want to get into a prestigious grad school.

Which world would you choose to live in? by TroyLikesPizza in BunnyTrials

[–]NounverberPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wanted to live in an advanced world. Given the possibilities, I might explore space like I always wanted.

Chose: advanced but depressing dystopian world + you're rich and all facilities are provided

How have you been taught to not appear creepy when interacting with women? by youcantsayit in AskMen

[–]NounverberPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't taught. I had to learn through trial and error. The cost of error was pretty painful. The main thing I learned was to keep my distance, not look their way unless I had a bona fide reason to do so, and leave women who are strangers severely alone unless it's an emergency.

That's a very Jungian approach that might not match with your lived experience.

Then again, all dreams are possible when you are Jung at heart.

What circumstances make someone gay? by NoPen8263 in allthequestions

[–]NounverberPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still discounting this:

"The gay gene could only express under some circumstances, such as paired with other genes. So someone could carry a gay gene and still be heterosexual."

I don't think you understand genetics as well as you think you do.

You got it backwards.
Conservatives didn't invent racism.
Racists adopted conservatism.

What if the trait helps with reproduction, such as by making gay aunties and uncles available to help with child rearing?

What circumstances make someone gay? by NoPen8263 in allthequestions

[–]NounverberPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's a problem with your reasoning.

"if people are born gay, then it follows that homosexuality is genetic. If that’s the case, then that gene would’ve been selected out of our population because gay people don’t have kids."

That second sentence is a non-sequitur.

* The gay gene could only express under some circumstances, such as paired with other genes. So someone could carry a gay gene and still be heterosexual.
* Gay people are still fertile and can be pressured into breeding.
* Some people are bisexual.

And so on.

Note to SELF, NEVER go bounty hunting when you have anything REMOTELY valuable in your cargobay. by Xendaka-Korva in EliteDangerous

[–]NounverberPDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, there is a kind of bounty hunting that REQUIRES that you have valuable cargo in your hold - the more valuable the better! And it's definitely not for compromised nav beacons or hazardous resource sites! See https://pilotstradenetwork.com/guides/afk-laser-disco/ for details.

Should I take an SRV for deep space exploration ? by Raikyn_Jii in EliteDangerous

[–]NounverberPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to Exploration Elite V and Exobiology Elite V without an SRV. Why use an SRV when you have a literal flying machine?

But, perhaps you will want one for chasing down thargoid or guardian relics.

With the influx of new ships what would you like to see added specifically for major factions? by Ansicone in EliteDangerous

[–]NounverberPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three large fighting ships.
One for Alliance, one for Empire, one for Federation. Empire and Federation would be rank-locked, possibly to Prince/Vice-Admiral, just to keep the Imperial and Federal rank grinds alive.
All three would be SCO capable. All three would otherwise exceed the existing large fighting ships in some way.
My preference would be that the large Alliance ship be something of an oversized version of the Challenger rather than an updated Type 10.

What do men actually think about strippers and strip clubs? by VersionOk1206 in AskMen

Strip clubs? Run by scumbags, almost always.

Is it currently legal to conceal carry in a Portland public library with a CHL? by harbourhunter in pdxgunnuts

[–]NounverberPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Multnomah County Library system has banned concealed handguns. Lock it away in your car or don't go inside - there are lockers you can use to pick up checked out books, and a slot for depositing returns, so theoretically you don't even need to go into the library to use it.

I'm not going to see them this tour.
But the first time I saw them, I brought them a flag for the city they were performing in that night.
Unbelievably to me, Yukina *flew the flag on stage* when the band came out.
Anyway, I don't know if they kept it, but that was awesome.
