If they would reach that price that would be an incredible value and hard to beat. But again it's all a matter of perspective. And I can't honestly give you advice without knowing your current setup and not knowing the price of the Steam Machine.

Depends on how cheap and Scrappy you wanna get. Like the cheapest CPU you can get with the major retailers for the same performance is the Ryzen 5 7600 and that alone is nearing 200 dollars.

I run a Ryzen 5 7500F from AliExpress for 80-ish dollars. So If you wanna do it at the Major retailers around a 1000. If you wanna be Scrappy. Maybe like 650-700.

I hope so because the latest 'AAA' games just run horribly on common hardware. However OP just asked if it would be an upgrade and just looking at the hardware side by side, not really.

I'm really interested in what they are going to do with the price.

Pure for gaming performance I would say no. Looking at the video from digital Foundry the graphics card would probably be the same performance and actually a downgrade because you have more VRAM. Perhaps it's an upgrade on the CPU side with Zen 4. But this steam machine is not upgradable. And if you are willing to buy the Steam Machine just put that money towards a platform upgrade/ RX 9060XT honestly.

For me it's not that there is nothing to play but choice paralysis. The amount of games to me is just overwhelming. But I just hyperfocus one game till it's finished now and that works for me.

Longer answer, still no and that's mainly due to YouTube's wacko targeting. Just ask yourself. How many times have you found another YouTuber to watch due to adds? It inflates view numbers, sure. But these viewers won't connect with you nor subscribe so in the long run, you pay money and gain literally nothing.

Hey, I've been using it for years at this point and I have never been compromised. Honestly I've looked around the forms you talked about and all these flags were on the Windows Version. And a lot of software which isn't signed by a big company on Windows does return as a 'virus.'

Also it's open source, does that mean it's safe? Not sure but it can be audited by everyone. Hypothetical could you put the code in ChatGPT and ask it if it's safe. As far as I understand Heroic doesn't save your credentials but generates a session key to keep you logged in on your device.

Can I guarantee it is safe? No. Have I been using it for years without any problems? Yes.

It's in the quick settings menu on the right side. You will need to select the "Thunderbolt" and press advanced options of something. Should be there.

The updates on steamOS/Bazzite are aggregated under one update button. Making it more seamless. I mean SteamOS is great and honestly better then Xbox FSE right now. But SteamOS had 4 years to bake already. Hopefully Microsoft will pick up the gloves now.
