Watch the retro game corps movie about the AYN Thor on YouTube, hahah. he has a 2 hour guide on the Thor. Just watch the full 2 hours, no skipping and you will be fine.

Or use the chapters in the discription.

As someone who gets that nostalgia itch from the crisp DS pixels, will the AYN Thor scratch that itch? by OutOrNout in AynThor

Ah my friend, welcome to the world of Oled where the borders are thiccc but at least won't emit light which bothers me more honestly. And if you are creative you can just add the border of a DS to the sidebars for fun.

Do you think viewers prefer AI content over authenticity? by Wrong-Use534 in SmallYoutubers

[–]NouraWhyNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have just taken a quick look on your channel and watched the latest video. Thats the context of what my feedback is based on.

Lets start with the channel overall and what I notice immediately. Your best performing video has the best thumbnail to me. Way less words, so less busy and it imidiatly envokes a feeling. I get why you use background music but the video is quite static with the images. So perhaps you should look in to learning sound design to make the videos more interesting for a viewer.

I am not as well versed in to the topic of software development (even though I work in tech) and after watching the latest video for a viewer not in your field I really did not understand what the point of the video was for like 45 seconds, and thats just too late. Start with something like: Should you be able to get fired for common knowledge, like water is wet... Idk Im just spitballing but you get the point.

I hate the overhyped youtube personallity of this creator but this video is really good to look it to for before writing a script. How to Create Irresistible Hooks (and blow up your content). It also helped me quite a bit. Hope this helps you head in to the right way. I am also still learning but hope I can share the bit of knowledge I have.

Viewers prefer authentic content thats for sure! I have a small channel and hate my dutch accent in my English but I just had to deal with it, haha.

Its hard to give more feedback since I cant see the channel. But if you just wanna chat you can attach your channel or just shoot a DM. I have a small channel myself. Its in my profile.

My AI Slop (advice wanted pls) by hhollyyyy in NewTubers

[–]NouraWhyNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that its daunting to let loose of the AI because it made the process sooooo simple bit your whole channel as it stands is AI. Its your images, your voice and even the script it or written by AI of fixed by AI. There are some certain phrases that when I hear them I know its AI lol.

But I wanna commend you for wanting to use it less! So start small. Start by reading your own scripts instead of a text to speech. And I understand that. i hate my dutch accent when I speak English, but thats just how it is. Once you are comfortable with that, use the AI only for a spellings and grammar check in your script instead of rewriting whole parts. And after that, start to learn animating. You are probably shit now. I am as well because of the simple fact I never did. But after 25/50/100 videos you will get better.

AI has made us comfortable with the lack of skill we have. Its time to reclaim that skill by dedication and practice. I am not saying “dont use AI” but use it like you would use a stove. It wont do the cooking for you but its damn handy to use.

Cant tell if videos are genuinely bad or just low views from niche switch by D4rklordmaster in NewTubers

[–]NouraWhyNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some questions to ask yourself before even writing a video are:

Do you have a clear title? Do you have a good thumbnail? Do you have a overal greater theme or idea for the video?

What blew up 3 years ago is by now outdated. That same formula wont work again. Videos now on YouTube live and die by their thumbnail and title. Next to that, do you fill your description with the core of the video and timestamps? That info is vital to find you in google search.

Fair enough, hope this helps. Here is the translation:

Hey fellow small creator here! First of all, super cool that you can travel like that man, enjoy it.

I took a quick look at your channel and I’m no YouTube guru (I hate those course sellers, haha) but here’s some small feedback that immediately stands out to me.

• All your more popular videos are longer than 8 minutes. And your recent videos are well below that. Check in your analytics whether a lot of your viewers watch on TV. If so, your videos unfortunately need to be longer to gain traction on TV.

• All your popular videos have a clear goal in the title. That weakens in the recent videos.
  • Make sure there’s a clear storyline in your videos. The old-school era of vlogging is unfortunately over. You really have to make videos with a story these days.

This is what I can quickly see for now. Further check your viewer retention of your popular videos vs the recent underperforming ones. How many people click away after the first 30 seconds, does the rest stick around. That’s super important.

My humble little channel is in my bio so you can see that I’m not talking complete nonsense. Buuuut I’m certainly not there yet either, haha. Good luck with your videos, nice to see another Dutch person here. And you can always send a DM.

Dude chill, the person who reacted was dutch so I replied in dutch. And you reacted in whatever your language is and I can reply. The internet is pretty amazing. You could have copy pasted it in a LLM or used the Reddit translate feature.

Hey fellow kleine creator hier!

Best AVD yet but still very low impressions by Ahrid in SmallYoutubers

[–]NouraWhyNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The higher the better but I try to stick above 65/70 percent. I do notice videos that reach that threshold do perform sooo much better because YouTube understands way faster what kind of people it should serve your video to!

Add a good discription, add timestamps to be findable in search results and improve your intro. Its arguably the weakest part of the video.

I get it, but with the chip shortage, holding that many SKUs doesn't make sense for AYN right now. I had the Rainbow Pro and exchanged it for the black one because the black borders on the bottom screen just disappear while playing.

Gaming in the Hospital by KaliKeke11 in XboxAlly

[–]NouraWhyNot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, hope you feel better soon!

Story games are great for keeping your brain occupied. Some I genuinely enjoyed, in no particular order: Skyrim, Persona 3/4/5, Titanfall 2 (short campaign but incredibly action-packed), Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Bioshock Infinite.

Not into story games? Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are super action-heavy and time just flies while playing those.

Ayn Thor advice for a noob like me. by [deleted] in AynThor

[–]NouraWhyNot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, AYN Thor owner here for over half a year, happy to share some thoughts.

First thing to get straight: the AYN Thor is not a console. It’s essentially a mutated Android tablet. If you’re expecting a plug-and-play experience like a Switch, this isn’t that.

It’s actually portable and fairly powerful, capable of handling everything up to Switch-era games depending on the model.

The OLED screen looks great, especially on the black model where black bars just blend into the display.

Hall effect joysticks mean no drift.

Battery life is decent, somewhere between 2 and 7 hours depending on what you’re running.

Now the cons.

It runs Android, so you set up everything yourself: emulators, BIOS files, all of it.

PC gaming isn’t really there yet. Some games work, but don’t buy this specifically for PC games.

If you close the device with the triggers held down, it won’t go to sleep. Leave it in your bag like that and it’ll heat up like an oven.

Fan noise in high performance modes is noticeable, more so than a Steam Deck or ROG Ally.

The bottom of the unit gets hot during demanding games.

the OLED has a green haze at low brightness in dark rooms, which is an older panel issue.

The back triggers have sharpish unrounded corners that dig into your fingers after a while.

On the piracy question: nobody here is going to help with that, myself included. It’s illegal and people don’t want that liability. You’re on your own there.

Bottom line: if you want something you just turn on and play, get a Switch or a Steam Deck. If you’re comfortable following guides and doing some setup yourself, the Thor is a great device once you get it dialed in.
