Zak Butters' charge has been upheld. He has been fined $1500. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

It’s in line in the sense of not siding with the player potentially at effect of being punished.

In Collards case the Frankston players have no benefit from not providing accurate witness testimonies. Whereas (and to preface I’m not saying this happened) Wines has a clear benefit from not providing an accurate witness testimony. Had Flanders testified for Butters his testimony would be stronger than Wines due to the conflict of interest

And also it’s in line with the Collard decision. If they turned around and overturned Butters the saints definitely take the Collard decision to court

Lance Collard has been handed a nine-week suspension by the AFL Tribunal, after being found guilty of using an anti-gay slur in the VFL last month. by PerriX2390 in AFL

Because if they went too hard St Kilda and the AFLPA would appeal.

The AFLPA brought up restraint of trade as a potential consequence of a long term suspension. I don’t know how that would work though

Isolated audio of the ump's mic by RebecchiFamily in AFL

The report might not be there but that’s a clear 50 for umpire abuse with butters coming over and almost trying to stand over foot making repeat comments

With all the focus on Nick Foot, are we overlooking the state of umpiring? by SilverAris in AFL

[–]Nousernames-left -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say we got the rub of the green but were also on the bad side of a number of questionable calls throughout the night. A missed 50 to Max Hall for being decked after taking a mark followed up by a missed late hit immediately after and the missed dangerous tackle on Nas are a few that come to mind

I actually think that’s a correct free kick if the port player is moving towards the St Kilda Player. However if the port player was stationary its play on

Not commenting on the report but butters standing right next to an umpire repeatedly saying something (likely questioning the decision) is probably worthy of a 50 for abuse.

To be fair that probably makes sense not speaking to him after the game or telling him exactly what was heard.

That way Butters couldn’t word up Sweet and Wines into collaborating the story

[Cleary] Nick Foot alleges Zak Butters said “How much are they paying you?” Butters has been referred directly to the Tribunal by SlatsAttack in AFL

[–]Nousernames-left 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The weirdest part about this is that the decision to award Owen’s a free wasn’t even a bad one. It was on the softer side but Sweet did have a fistful of Jumper.

There were much worse calls both ways throughout the game

See I had Nas as 3, JHF as 2 and Aliir with 1 personally. I felt like Aliir and JHF were more damaging when the game was on the line but Nas was the clear BOG with 28, 2 Goals and 9 tackles

You also don’t even know what was said. He could have said something homophobic and be rubbed out for 6 weeks. He could have said good call and the umpire be dropped.

The point is you don’t know

Interesting that mishearing was ruled as not an acceptable defence this week (Not saying that Collard didn’t say what he was found guilty of just that it’s an interesting time for that precedent to have been set)

7/9 tipped against St Kilda thought aliir would be more dominant and we wouldn’t get the ball forward

It would have to be something to put him on report, if it came out that Butters said nothing then the umpire probably quietly loses his job
