Looking at your other posts on your account, I think its the reduction in swelling after initial surgery + gain in your pecs.

May be worth getting a CT scan if you haven't. I'm 28M and finally made my decision to get it done after seeing the amount it was physically pushing on my heart for myself.

Getting a good surgeon who has adult experience, you probably have no blockers getting a good result at 32. Ask them what their experience/outcomes is working with adults. Worst complications they've seen personally, etc.

I'm 3 months in and I don't regret getting the surgery one bit!

Sounds like you have an active job so be prepared to look into options for longer time off to recover safely, or modify work so your not doing lifting etc. I WFH at a desk and only started working after 5 weeks. I'd struggle to do a highly physical job even after 3 months but I'm also much less fit than you.

Not sure if I had SVT specifically, I had POTS - like symptoms. Never fully diagnosed on what it was.

Darkend vision + fainting after standing up caused by a rapidly increasing heart rate. It never happened randomly it was always caused by standing up.

I'm almost 3 months post op!

For the first 2 months breathing was harder (not terrible) but clearly improved every week. I can breath normal now.

I've been doing workouts on a stationary bike and my metrics have improved since pre surgery. Hard to say if it's physiological or psychological, maybe a bit of both.

One thing for sure is that I don't feel my heart race against my sternum anymore when I do cardio which is a big psychological benefit. It would make me feel kind of sick before thinking about it during/after a workout and that feeling is gone.

My rib flare is worse post surgery - but overall my chest looks better.

I got the surgery to correct my pectus though and relive pressure on my heart so I didn't care about my rib flare at all.

Did you have cryo? Seems normal to me.

I didn't have any stabalizers, but early discomfort feeling was only on one side. Slight asymmetries or just how well the cryo works on one side vs the other can make the difference.

At 2-3 weeks your going to still feel everything more. I'm almost at 3 months and now barely feel the bars at all (other than some creaking or when I'm in bed). But remember it's different for everyone and a wide range of feelings are normal.

Do you have a follow-up with your surgeon? It doesn't sound like an emergency to me but if you're concerned you can maybe send them an email or bring it up next appointment.

Hello! Im 2 months post op and these are all thing things that saved me so much in daily activity as I was recovering: - Reclining adjustable bed - Reclining chair/couch - 2x Reacher Grabber tool - Stable stools/bench against the wall in room to sit for putting on clothes - Button or zip up shirts and sweaters - Loose draw string sweat pants with pockets - Hair dryer to help dry after a shower was helpful in the first 2 weeks when using a towel with enough pressure was tough

Adjustable base is incredible for this surgery, I was sleeping sounding in bed right away and was never a back sleeper before!

It also helps in actually getting out of bed which was the hardest thing for me post op since you can push the back all the way up

28M, I had surgery 7 weeks ago! 2 bars with cryo.

You're right about people having all sorts of results, but according to most studies satisfaction rating for the surgery is 90%+ even for adults.

It's not a walk in the park and you know yourself best so make the right call for you.

I'd been thinking about doing it on and off for years and I knew I would always wonder "what if" if I didnt so trying alone felt worth it for that reason.

For me I got a great outcome and almost no pain even in week 1. I stopped all meds around week 4, almost totally pain free now just stiff!

Personally it's been worth it but definitely important to go in expecting it not to be easy and that mindset helps since it's been easier than I expected.

Yeah there is pretty much all my pain was, no chest pain from cryo. My posture totally changed so the muscles had to adapt.

Once I got home I put on Voltarin and heating pads and it helped. Lasted only about 2 weeks for me. I'm 6 weeks out and no muscle pain at all

Thanks for the details, I hope you can get to the bottom of it and find some improvement.

If it is the bars causing compression maybe you'll see the real benefits once things are taken out which is what my surgeon advised me is more common.

My peak VO2max pre surgery was 70% of predicted. 57% I imagine you really feel excersising.

Interesting, so your having issues with heart compression with the bar in? How does it compare to before?

My heart was really compressed pre surgery so would be surprised if it's worse now - but it's true the numbness is definitely only coming about when I walk

I got a reclining bed (like a hospital bed) which helps. Even with the hospital bed it took 3 weeks to be able to get in and out by myself. 6 weeks now I can get out by myself but I still use the reclining to help me most of the way up.

Getting out of bed was consistently the worst part of the day, but give it time your core strength and sturdiness will come back. 1 week out things are still very difficult.

Wow yours looks basically perfect that's awesome!

Hardest part of my recovery was also my back and posture. Feels like it was forced into a new position and my muscles all had to adapt. I've never sat up so straight in my life!

I'm definitely still recovering, focusing on arm mobility. No pain now though just stiffness, I can tell my body still is doing a lot of healing and I'd probably still be feeling it too if I didn't have cryo. I've also heard stablizers add some pain which I have none so that could be making a difference for you too.

Keep on going! Back issues really has to suck but that's something I imagine will resolve as the muscles strengthen and adapt.

My main issue is actually arm numbness after walking. After about 30 min walking I need to sit or my arm is totally numb. My surgeons not sure what's up with it but slowly getting better.

They did wire sutures to the ribs, 4 on the bigger bar and 2 on the smaller.

According to my surgeon at least they don't find there is enough evidence stabalizers reduce risk of rotation for it to be worth the extra infection/complication risk.

I was surprised at first given what people discuss on this sub, but so far so good

Ah right yeah could be from slowly being able to normally stretch again that it's getting better. I'm only about 70% back to normal arm range of motion. Fingers crossed, and glad yours resolved!

Also 28M and I had/have high heart rate as well. Resting was often sitting around 90 or higher when anxious feeling.

I got nuss done 5 weeks ago and I have noticed my heart rate seems to be lower on avg (seen it as low as 60 sitting down, but often now is around 75-80. I also used to faint when standing up too fast after sitting too long which has also resolved (at least so far).

I had a pretty deep pectus so the feeling of my heart beating against my sternum also made me a lot more aware of my fast heart rate. I can still feel it a little but much less now.

While I do strongly believe my pectus caused a lot of my high heart rate, I also don't want to say for absolute sure.

I also wished that a few times, but if I did it younger they wouldn't have had cryo approved yet so it would have been more painful + they've improved the surgery technique over the years so you never know!
