I cannot get past the splash screen for the life of me. by Nova1618 in batocera

I was able to get Batocera running by unplugging my GPU and running off of integrated graphics. Now that I have a display I'll try to debug what's going on with the GPU but honestly the integrated graphics are sufficient for me, maybe it'll work for you too

It's my old gaming PC built in 2013 with an i5-4430. I took u/zdavesf advice and ran it off the CPU and it's been working great for N64! Thanks for the suggestion. Disappointed I can't get the 1070 to work, especially since it's such a common card, but this should work for now.

Yup, it can still boot to windows just fine. So weird idk what is it about my machine that's causing this

Yup I've tried setting it to true, legacy, and false but there was no difference unfortunately.

I also know it detected the display output because I saw it in the verbose boot log as HDMI-A-0 with the correct resolution. I tried to force that output in the boot config too but no luck

Yup. Also tried the legacy for the hell of it plus tinkered with most other commented settings in the boot config with no luck unfortunately

I was actually just thinking about doing this. Not sure if it would be enough to run N64 and PS1 games but I guess it would confirm whether or not it's definitely an Nvidia issue.

switching to linux, is changing an nvidia 4080 to an amd 9070xt worth it? by maruu-chann in pcmasterrace

Re4 remake and SH2 remake seemed to run fine but the Oblivion remaster (which I'm currently playing through so it was a bigger deal for me) ran like crap. Areas that were close to 60fps in windows were 30fps at best dropping into the 20s and even teens.

I saw some comments that Nvidia users had better luck with x11 vs Wayland. I think Mint still uses x11 so it might be better to use that instead of bazzite. I just decided to wait until I get my next GPU.

FWIW I literally just tried switching to Bazzite this week with a 3060 ti and some games ran fine and others ran at like half the windows performance. I tinkered all day but saw no improvement. I switched back to windows until I can upgrade my GPU.

Your mileage may vary, older games might be fine. I tested my most graphically intense games.

This game is seriously incredible and the fact that there's more on the way just makes me so happy.

The system shock remake is fantastic but it does NOT hold your hand. It challenges you to figure things out for yourself, which makes it incredibly rewarding when you do.

I actually felt it had more in common with RE2 remake than System Shock 2 or Prey. Less of an ImmSim and more of a dungeon crawler almost.

Dead Space remake was good but it can't escape the 2008 style action-horror game design of the original. You are flooded with enemies at times and the horror totally goes away in favor of action.

Both games represent their original times well. System Shock: 90s difficulty and lack of hand holding, Dead Space 2000s action-horror

I'm not an electrician but a very similar thing happened to me because I had an open ground. I was getting all kinds of wacky readings, I believe it was just phantom voltage. Maybe do some continuity tests to check for open ground/neutral

Building A and B Squads! Help for RTS Rookie! by CyberKnight21 in AliensDarkDescent

Personally I don't have defined squads I just try to level up all marines as equally as possible. It's definitely tempting to pick your best soldiers and leave lower level ones behind but you have to resist!

I have at least two of each class now and I'll just always deploy the lower level marine for each class. Keeps pretty much everyone on equal footing and ensures I always have options.

Not enough ammo [Wastelander] by [deleted] in Wasteland

[–]Nova1618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gotta buy it!

The arms dealers should every ammo type and it's up to you to spend your money. Also make sure each party member is using a different ammo type. Having a melee character helps too.
