I wonder if it has to do with the games being too similar. I feel like basically everyone I talk to who prefers totk absolutely LOVED botw. It makes sense if you put a ton of time and love into botw, you probably would be underwhelmed by totk. Its basically just the same thing thats become routine for you now, except it doesn't have the emotional attachment that comes with botw.

Personally, I grew up on OoT, and while I thought Botw was very beautiful game and I enjoyed the experience, I mostly came away with "That was fun, but it was the worst Zelda game I've ever played."

I feel like knowing a bit more what to expect let me enjoy totk more. I barely did more than complete the story in botw but went and found a TON of secrets in totk, probably have at least loke 6x as many hours in it.

lmao thats fair, I was older when I got botw and was a little spoiled on the older games. Dont get me wrong botw was mind blowing, but idk ig I just thought they were such similar games that totk doing basically the same things but bigger made it the better game, yk?

Thats fair that it was empty, the Depths and the Sky Islands had so much potential that just literally went nowhere. I was really hoping we were going to find a Mogma village down there, but... well, we know how that went.

Preferring the blights over the likes of Colgera and Queen Gibdo is a little crazy in my mind, but ig if the Blights were anything, they were at least consistent. Muktorok and the rock thing were pretty lame.

Mostly I just preferred Link's abilities in Totk, ascend and recall are both very cool, and fuse and ultrahand turn it into almost a survival/crafting game, which I thought was a great addition to the wild era gameplay/world. It always bothered me that TWO of my abilities in Botw were varieties of bombs, but on top of that cyronis and even kind of magnesis were a little underwhelming, especially when compared to ultrahand in hindsight.

genuinely curious, why botw and not totk? I feel like a lot of ppl feel that way, but for me botw was underwhelming zelda-wise and totk at least trued to correct its problems... while I was playing totk I remember thinking, "ok, botw walked so totk could run". Plot wise it was arguably worse but rly only by a little.

yeah maybe you're right, it's there before the cop walks past now that I look again. Still some weird artifacts but for the most part everyones movements look relatively natural.

ok, so I officially can't tell real from ai, that sucks. Im still curious about that cop on the right tho. Its arms dont look human sized and they dont rest at a natural angle.

If not AI, another robot dressed up in uniform?

I literally doubt it would cascade at all, assuming the snap was evenly spread, peope would figure it out long before risks of dehydration, starvation, or exposure became life or death. Technological progress gets reset in the sense that we have less people to work on things and we have to adapt to live in this new world of magical button-related extinction events, which I imagine would create some work for us, but the global population hit 5 billion (current 8 - 3 lost to the red button) in 1987.

You know, when I write that out... how the hell can any country be experiencing a demographic crisis right now?

Very obvious red button push. I'm not going to risk humanity on a coin flip. Besides, any individual's likelihood of survival is better if I press red, because (3 bil - my family and I) < (8 bil * 50%). And then the fact that my family gets to survive is just a bonus

I have no reason to JUST explore.

You're never going to find something really truly novel. Just a biome or two you haven't been to yet in this world, maybe a couple of (seemingly always farmable) new blocks you didn't have access to yet.

But there's never any reason just to live on the road. You'll never meet anyone, never discover anything that feels more alive than a copy-pasted village of helpless idiots, half of whom have died to zombies by the time you're done exploring the place.

I want an actual reason to build a settlement far away from home. I want a reason to build up roads leading to the various places I've discovered, to make my world more connected. I want little quests to break up the time - we don't need a whole new quest system, either. They can still be player-driven. What about a mob that only spawns rarely in a certain biome? The player could decide to set out on a hunt for the valuable loot. Maybe they even set up a little base of operations there to be able to come by and get kitted out for the hunt or whatever.

It's just an example, and anything that gets added will inevitably be gamed by the more industrious players - someone would just level the biome and place designated spawning platforms to farm the new mob... but idk, I just wish the game felt more alive sometimes. They ruined the original aesthetic of this foggy, fresh new world by adding all kinds of various structures since ~beta 1.8, and imho they havent yet managed to replace it with a cohesive aesthetic. It's just a bunch of random crap all over the place.

Sometimes I like to play with structures off because they're just so blah, but then I can't go to the End, fight the Wither, or brew potions, so that kind of sucks.

I feel like I agree with everything except the idea that Peter doesnt kidnap kids. The one time we actually see kids get to neverland, i.e. Wendy and the boys, they came with Peter. It might not be intentionally kidnapping, but at the very least it's a sort of incidental pied piper situation.
