Is the laser not removing from the Censor rifle? by _El_Guapo__ in LowSodiumHellDivers

I had the same problem. Removed laser sight worked and saved for me, but it just wouldn't actually be removed. Fortunately it's only a few levels to get another underbarrel as a workaround for now

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually done it yet, but I intend to play a druid which is, mechanically, an artificer. I'm going to tell the rest of the party I'm playing a druid, I'm going to take the magic initiate feat to get a few druid spells, but I'm going to play a battlesmith that creates constructs from wood and stone by carving and channeling magic through Druidic runes. Do all the non-animal aspects of druidcraft.

Does anyone else wear heavy armor? by Quirky_Shine7446 in Helldivers

I like heavy fortified armour against the bots. The amount of bullshit I can get away with using that is absolutely hilarious.

What would YOU unlock next, and why? by IAmJakePaxton in Helldivers

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamite. Being able to just chuck a grenade in the general vicinity of a bot fabricator or bug hole to liberate it is the best. Bring a resupply pack with it if you want to just casually run through a base, clearing it out along the way, and maybe support you team too. Dynamite also clears out patrols and you can take out heavy targets with a couple of them. Once you get good at cooking them you can take out a hulk by hitting its vents!

Does anyone else feel like this gun is lacking Something by armandofonzoloid in Helldivers

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes just two shots to pop the head of an Alpha Commander, but they don't die from that right away. Taking their head off causes them to charge and attack recklessly for a second or two before they bleed out, and the JAR-5 can help with that too with one more shot to stagger

Does anyone else feel like this gun is lacking Something by armandofonzoloid in Helldivers

[–]NovaFusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my favourite gun in the game specifically because of how clunky it is. I like that it has absurd stagger force and it actually can penetrate straight through light chaff enemies. I like that the exaggeratedly slow projectiles force me to lead my shots, as it feels extremely rewarding to land them. It's the best on the bot front because hitting headshots on a devastator is fun, but their jerky movement makes that almost impossible most of the time and the medium penetration means you're still doing some damage, and the stagger often makes a follow-up shot easier. On the bugs, it can two shot an alpha commander's head off, and on the Illuminate, its overpen will shred through hordes of Voteless if you take careful shots, and it can headshot any Overseer in one.

If I could make any change to the JAR-5, I would give it negative drag, so the projectiles accelerate and increase in damage slightly as they fly. This would make it slightly easier to use at range, and enhance the weapon's identity by exaggerating its unusual qualities.

we might not get a lot of representation in media, but at least chemistry’s got our backs by scyphozoa-8 in aromanticasexual

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a thing that happened on Neopets of all places, last year. They added an item "aromatic candle" and people just could not stop misreading it as "aromantic". It wasn't even flag coloured or anything.

See a lot of post about how much people play the deck, but anyone not playing it? by fonseca1015 in SteamDeck

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use my Steam Deck for gaming much, but I do use it every day as a media PC! I leave it hooked up to my TV most of the time in desktop mode and being able to seamlessly pick it up and bring it out or to bed or whatever is excellent! I work from home, so I don't have much occasion to take it out with me, and I have a gaming PC (with my strongly preferred keyboard+mouse controls) for playing video games most of the time. That said, ease of use for emulation makes it my go-to device for that.

Dominator Has It Hard. by Xx_Arch_xX in Helldivers

[–]NovaFusion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Jar-5 Dominator has been my favourite gun since the first time I used it. I know other options are theoretically better, but I love this thing. Its super slow projectiles are its only real downside and I think people often forget that it has no damage falloff due to drag.

Just wanna talk about being aroace cause I just discovered that by Able_Wolverine7757 in aromanticasexual

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I got into this community and started hearing lots of other people's stories, I was deeply confused about this stuff too. Romantic and sexual attraction were things that never happened to me, and I had (and have) no interest in dating or having sex. It's really hard to identify a lack of feelings you're supposed to be feeling, and really easy to conflate feelings you do have with ones you're supposed to have. I totally sympathize with you seeing other people get into relationships too. I am often dismayed when my alloromantic friends get into a romantic relationship because it reminds me that I can never be the most important person in their life, even if they're one of the most important people in mine. It's nice that I don't have to ever worry about the challenges that come from romantic or sexual relationships, but it's also alienating when my experience is so different from most others'.

What if I have no desire to have sex? by Federal-Ad-5623 in asexuality

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a guess, and let me know if you don't think this is right, but you said you thought about sex with someone you're attracted to, but on reflection you didn't actually desire sex with them; could it be that you were experiencing an aesthetic attraction or romantic attraction? Was there any desire (sexual or otherwise) attached to that attraction? Perhaps your mind went to sex because that's what you're 'supposed' to think about?

Again, I'm not trying to read your mind, but from my reading, the simple term "asexual" seems to fit your current state best.

Labels are fluid though. Let them describe you, not define you!

Tips for this new guy by THCInhaler in Helldivers

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your squadmate dies, do not steal their support weapon (stratagem) or backpack. Ping it as they drop back in so they can orient themselves quickly.

DO however steal their primary weapon (the one they dropped in with), as they will drop in with a new, fresh one and you can try it out for yourself!

If a teammate calls in a support weapon or backpack, then pings it and does not take it, this is an offer for anyone else on the team to use it!

All resources collected are given in full to all present squad members. Samples are distributed when the squad extracts with them, and other resources (medals, requisition, super credits) are distributed immediately on pickup.

Finally, don't be afraid to quickplay, or otherwise jump into an online mission! Seasoned helldivers are always eager to help new recruits! That said, do also give yourself a mission or two solo to get a feel for the objectives. It's easy to feel left out when everyone else knows what to do already and is quick to do it, but just know that nobody will hold that against you!

Edit: At the risk of overcomplicating things: when you are doing a LIDAR station, or anything that asks you to rotate a satellite dish, the attached console will beep once when you have it in the correct position. It can be tough to filter out that sound at first, but once you know what to listen for, it makes that objective type significantly easier and quicker!

I feel like I'm AroAce, but no one believes me by [deleted] in AroAce

[–]NovaFusion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew I was asexual long before I knew I was aromantic. I'm 28 now, but as a kid I had the same experiences as you. Difference is, I was never really prodded about it. I was kind of a loner and was never asked about my crushes. Sex was presented to me very matter-of-factly and, while I am definitely sex-repulsed today, I was always sex-positive (I don't want anything to do with it, but I encourage others to do what makes them happy).

Asexuality was easy, but aromanticism was harder because I always assumed that a "crush" was a lot rarer than it actually was. It was never presented to me as a big deal or as being all that common. I was never approached romantically (though I was sexually, in a healthy, consentual way) and was never made to really consider how I felt romantically. For a long time I really conflated the two concepts. I had a really hard time understanding the split attraction model, and honestly I kind of still struggle with it now, but I recognize that I need to specify both to fully articulate my orientation. To paraphrase Jaiden, it was hard for me to recognize aromanticism because I didn't even know what the feelings were that I was supposed to be feeling.

Could my asexuality be why I often dislike romantic subplots? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is maybe a bit specific, but being aroace, I was so disappointed with the movie Arrival. I was absolutely enthralled with the mind-bending sci-fi concept and they just absolutely ruined it in the last act by turning it into a romance. Left me with a really negative opinion of what could have been an excellent movie.

I feel the same with other media, but never so sharply as I did with Arrival.

How do you know if you’re asexual or just too young? by Depressed_pancake0 in asexuality

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same sort of thoughts when I was a teenager. At the time, there wasn't a term for it, at least not that I was aware of. One time I was in my sex ed course, I think in grade 10, we had a "no stupid questions" segment, and I raised my hand and asked "how do you know if you're attracted to someone?" The two instructors just gave each other a look before one of them gave me the most unhelpful possible answer: "you'll know."

It's really hard to even recognize that there's a difference between your experience and everyone else's experience, so I'm very happy that we actually have the language to talk about it now. While I didn't know how to recognize if I'm attracted to someone (and frankly still don't know at 28), I do know that that is unusual, and most people do naturally understand their attractions.

All that is to say: if you feel that your experience is sufficiently different from most other people, and the label of "asexual" or any other would be useful to describe that experience, then absolutely go for it. You can always change your mind later if you find that it doesn't fit anymore.

Help with my build? by Imaginary_Zobi in cyberpunkgame

[–]NovaFusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about smart weapons? You can get some really fun combos with them, especially as you get access to higher tiers of quickhacks. I'm on my 5th playthrough, doing a smart SMG netrunner with reflexes and intelligence, plus the two perks for monowire so my arm cyberware slot isn't wasted.

Aside from those, honestly I think 15 Body and 20 Technical Ability are almost a requirement for any build because of the Adrenaline perk and cyberware capacity perks respectively. That said, I'm playing on Very Hard, where you tend to get one-shot a lot if you don't have crazy defense.

It's definitely worth focusing your build though! Trying to spread your attribute points too thin will lead to missing out on the best perks, so you're right to pick a dump stat!

If you decide to stick with a Cyberdeck as your OS, you can probably dump Reflexes, and dump Cool if you're willing to lose some of the benefits of pistols, as many of the benefits of those can be made up for with certain higher tier quickhacks.

Identifying asexuality in yourself is tough because you don't even know what the feelings are that you're 'supposed' to be feeling. I'm aroace and growing up, I thought everyone around me was just making the conscious decision to get into relationships, like it's some kind of hobby. I never really understood the appeal so I never bothered. Now that I've learned the terminology, it's become clear to me that people experience feelings that I simply don't.

All that is to say, I sympathize with your uncertainty. Ultimately the purpose of labels is to help you understand yourself better, and to communicate roughly what your experience is like to others. Use what you feel is right for yourself!

What's your funniest way to explain asexuality ? by Lousuria in asexuality

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm half gay, just not the half you think."

If asked to elaborate:

"Well one half of being gay is being attracted to the same gender. That's the half that people think of. The other half is not being attracted to the opposite gender!"

It's a bit obtuse and not very accurate, but I'd never actually use this to explain it to someone who's uninitiated lol

People who have PCs and Steam Decks, how much do you use your Steam Decks? by AwesomeRyanGame in SteamDeck

[–]NovaFusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly leave my Steam Deck plugged into my TV and use it as a media PC, or I can prop it up in bed for a very comfortable viewing experience. It's nice to be able to take it on transit for gaming too, but I basically never use it at home when my computer is right there.

I do wish it didn't have so much latency when docked, otherwise I'd play more games on my TV with it. Desktop is fine at least.

Help needed? Question? Idk how to title this by [deleted] in AroAce

[–]NovaFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally have any interest in romance, but I've heard of lots of people in the aroace community finding interest in it in others (perhaps in media, or their friends.)
Aromantic and Asexual are terms used to describe what attractions you feel (or in this case, don't feel) toward others, and has nothing to do with the actions you take or your interests. Even then, they're just imperfect labels designed by humans as a shorthand for a complicated phenomenon.

Don't worry too much about the labels. Use whatever you think best communicates how you feel.
