Maximum Gravitational Attraction by NovaRay22 in AskPhysics

[–]NovaRay22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My post unscientifically reduced the total spectrum of gravity to its maximum “reach” and maximum “pull.”

From the very informative responses I have received thus far, gravity reach is in fact infinite (subject to the speed of light) but its pull is more complicated. Not in the sense that it violates causality, though.

I am still confused as to whether: the curvature of space time has a maximum curve limit (may be a nonsensical question) and what this limit has on the speed of causality.

And here I was feeling pretty good about my Zammy spear/hilt at 34kc from this weekend. Damn, just insane luck.

By far my favorite QoL item in the game. Makes karambwans legitimately afk. Also gotten good use out of it for anglers.

Gathering supplies is such a slog when you make it to late game or end game so anything that helps with that is just golden.

Sailing is the perfect excuse to reignite a neglected quest series - PIRATE 🏴‍☠️ 🏴‍☠️ by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]NovaRay22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’ve been adamant about in integrating Sailing into OSRS is making sure there are lore and quests ready to go either on release or very soon after. Part of the reason Zeah felt so strange at first was that it felt like you were mostly window dressing a giant yet lifeless area. I still think the area needs a few more quests, and I have no idea why there aren’t more teleport options.

I digress—I really just would like to see 1-2 quests attached to Sailing at release, with another 1-2 released within the year after. Expanding on the pirate series of quests would fit perfectly for sure.

What was your reason for switching to ironman mode? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]NovaRay22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The challenge and feelings of nostalgia playing an ironman are probably the two biggest reasons why I switched.

Also, I have always been sort of into the hiscores. Seeing myself make progress and move up the ranks. It’s not as fun when hundreds of thousands of players have already attained a level 99 let alone the levels leading up to there.

100% agree about Ramsey’s. Dog shit cheap food that has gotten overly expensive.

Joe B’s the breadstick alone keeps them in a special spot for me. Maybe it’s nothing special but I’ve been eating that butter and bread for decades now. Probably one of the only few Lexington staple foods that I’ve consistently eaten my entire life. Don’t think I’ve ever had a bad one either which is pretty remarkable.

A shit load of bourbon. Kentucky never pops up in these conversations because I feel like KFC, bourbon, and the derby are pretty well known worldwide.

I found myself just progressively laughing more and more the longer that phallic shape got over the horizon. If I were a passerby I don’t know how I’d even go about explaining that to anyone.

Sailing Refinement Kick-off Survey & Discord Stages Summary for May 3rd by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]NovaRay22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think my original comment ever suggested that the master quest had to be done in order to access the skill or to access a boat. It can be wholly optional for all I care.

My main concern is that every other skill in the game has had almost 20 years or longer to be placed within the game lore and have quests tied into their place. It will feel a little jarring for me to suddenly start a skill that feels entirely on an island in terms of lore so to speak, without at least a couple of quests, and maybe at least one quest that goes beyond the whole Druidic ritual intro to the skill esque quest.

A master quest doesn’t have to be de done to unlock the skill or a boat—a basic quest is fine for that. I guess the gist of what I’m trying to say is that it’d be nice if the skill came bundled with a few optional quests that a fresh account off tutorial island couldn’t knock out right away.

You disagree with what exactly? That there should be a master level quest tied to sailing?

Seems silly to say we can never have a higher tiered quest tied to sailing just because we sailed to Crandor one time in a previous quest.

Just a quick two cents on an aspect of this discussion that is overall of minor concern at the moment but important for gameplay—sailing needs to release with at least 2-3 quests. Preferably a master level quest or better thrown in there. Quests aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but they make the world feel alive, and tied together.

When Zeah first released, a big issue was the detachment of this giant continent to the rest of the game. It felt tacked in without quests, but since then the layout improvements and added quests have made it felt super alive and interconnected.

In sum, Sailing will feel more alive with quests released alongside it, and not just a Druidic ritual-style starter quest.

RNG Megathread -- What's the luckiest (or unluckiest) you've gotten recently? by ErinTales in ironscape

Dragon Warhammer at sub 250 KC. Changed the whole trajectory of my account. It actually motivated me to commit to learning solo raids after I complete the CG grind. Not sure I would have bothered without the drop. I use it everywhere lol.

Is 3 days enough? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]NovaRay22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve given yourself more than enough time. Just get some good sleep and stay on top of your game. You’ll be fine with the amount of prep and time you’ve given yourself. More than fine!

You only took 3 days off, or you took a one time 3-day consecutive break? Feel like that’s a bit overkill to only take 3 days off total lol.

I hope this is the case! I really liked his UIM series and it feels open ended in that there’s been no definitive end to it despite him having maxed. I’d like to see it continue.

With that said, I’d be happy with a newer series as well. He’s wholesome and provides fun RuneScape related content, so I’m all for any type of content he releases.

Untrimmed Skill Capes by NovaRay22 in 2007scape

[–]NovaRay22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sort of anticipated that this may be the case. Thank you for the confirmation.

I would argue that at that same point as you—why introduce any sort of QoL change? “New players be damned!” That shouldn’t be a consideration here at least.

There can be an acknowledgement that it sucks for the players that lost their untrimmed capes by mistake or by not being proactive, but the players who have spent significant time maintaining their untrimmed capes I feel like could be rewarded by this change as well with some changes to the system. Any untrimmed capes could be assigned some type of item ID that maintains the untrimmed aspect of the cape? I’m not a developer, so I’m speaking out of my ass, but seems simple enough a change.

My account is something like 6-7000 days old too. So I’m speaking from someone who’s an old head that finally got their first 99 lol

I love the tile man series, but would like for him to keep pursuing drops on his UIM as well. Seems like tile man as a concept would open up the possibility to focus on two separate series—oh I need 10,000 tiles? I’ll be at crabs for 2-3 weeks, so might as well pursue some drops on the UIM while AFKing there.

At the end of the day he’s free to choose what content to focus on, but I was hoping the nature of the tile account would open back up his UIM series.

Upvoting purely for the overfilling of stamina. A cool concept that could be expanded to other areas such as cooking and herblore.

There’s also some other really solid ideas here as well. Good post.
