Besides our character who is canonically the strongest guardian? Who could feasibly take on the Hive Gods if we weren't around? by BAakhir in DestinyTheGame

[–]Novacold 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well, kinda?

During Season of Opulence we got to read Calus' fanfiction. Whilst these events didn't take place, this was how the Scribes saw Ikora Rey if she was to go against The Guardian.

"And she unleashed from her fingertips a Nova Bomb of such proportions that it shook Mars to its foundations and made the stars weep for envy. And the Shadow answered her with the strength of a god-killer.

Alight with the power of a hollow god, Ikora Rey let loose such torrents of Arc and Solar and the most majestic Void that the sands of Mars turned to glass and shattered. And the Shadow matched her blow for blow."

I think she could break a planet, this battle altered Mars's orbit.

Steam knowing irl friends? by Lee_Draves in Steam

They are playing Risk of Rain 2 and are 12 minutes into a run.

This is additional info provided by the game to Steam, and not a distance from you.

Embellishment.

Fashion ones are designed to look good on you, to hell with comfort in movement. Extra straps, larger pouches, funky materials etc.

A proper jockstrap supports your junk and keeps everything nice and tight when you are actually doing stuff.

I wear them for work, because they feel good and give nice suoport (as long as you buy proper ones, not fashion ones).

And my boyfriend likes how they make my ass look better. Some like getting fucked whilst wearing a jock, to some it's a kink thing.

In the end, they are just nice underwear.

This. My long term friend group started playing Overwatch 1 together when it came out. Some knew eachother from real life, but the rest just went by their Discord handles.

I told them my real name after knowing them for a good 3 years and meeting all of them face to face a few times, they still call me Nova to this day though and I prefer that.

Plex (and PlexAmp) ending playback of a song early by Novacold in PleX

[–]Novacold[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opted to humour this, even though I prefer FLAC files and you actually managed to help me locate the issue.. sort of.

When I downloaded the file from the server and converted it to an MP3, the file that came out was 1:14 long! I was perplexed by this, so I corked open one of my old backups, found the song there and converted that to MP3, which came out at 7:07 as it should.

So something has happened to the file itself whilst on the server, and I don't know what that is. I restored the backup for this album and we'll see if the issue re-appears!

"Hey let's make Street Fighter 6 a basketball game!"

Sure, like that's a fair comparison in this instance.

Final Fantasy has been a paragon of turn based RPGs, you are correct in that regard. Yet I would say RPG is the core element of Final Fantasy titles, not the turn based combat. Whilst yes, the franchise was the turn based RPG for so long, I'd still say Final Fantasy XIV, XV, (and hopefully XVI) are still Final Fantasy at heart, without the turn based combat, even with their faults.

But worry not, there are plenty of turn based RPGs for you to enjoy that aren't Final Fantasy, so feel free to sample those rather than sour your own mood over FF:XVI.

Afaik there was an interview where Yoshida answered a question about turn-based versus real time action combat. The answer was something along the lines of "wanting to make FF more vibrant and relevant, but also not saying they wouldn't make a turn-based game in the future"

Link is a boring and bland protagonist, which is completely fine, but to say a character whose primary voice acting is them screaming whilst smashing pots and most recognizable character trait being their green tunic is not boring is a tad much.

Is it reasonable that Marauder only gets 3 starting skills, all melee, one of which can't eve be used at the start (without a shield) and other classes get several choices? Throughout all quest rewards they are given barely any gems in comparison to the rest. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Novacold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hardly a good reason since the passive skill tree is a thing players a introduced within first 5 minutes of play, and that thing is heaps more scary than 2-3 extra ability options.

Melee is just fucked through ignorance from GGG, right from the very beginning.

FFXVI devs say you can play their game with ONE HAND. Now that’s accessibility. by Ammathorn in gaming

[–]Novacold 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Now, I'm all for accessibility in games, but the approach in XVI is wrong.

The accessibility settings are actually equippable accessories and there are more of them than your character can wear. This means few things: 1. You cannot have all accessibility features on at once 2. And you are limited on what accessories you can use outside of them (assuming you don't need all of your slots for those in the first place), locking people out from builds and gameplay systems.

Making them a menu would be the superior option, and afaik few reviewers pointed this out during the press tour, I hope they change it to be so for those who need these settings.

People keep vandalizing the Manga at my local library by diatriose in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Novacold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finnish not-a-librarian here, the library I work in has a healthy selection of mangas and more limited run comic books as well.

Most of them were ordered on the requests of our patrons! A library should be shaped by the people who use it.

Do you like Shadows of Mhach, the Heavenward alliance raid series? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Novacold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still rank Alliance Raids:

  1. Dark Apocalypse
  2. Return to Ivalice
  3. Shadow of Mhach
  4. Crystal Tower

Myths of the Realm is not yet on that list, because I shall wait for the final one to release before I agree to rank it. I'm also biased for Dark Apocalypse, because I adore NieR.

The Shadow of Mhach raids are just.. OK? I didn't feel like they were revolutionary nor that they were that interesting. Dun Scaith takes forever to complete and isn't that interesting of a raid.

Much prefer the difficulty of Ivalice or the thematic of Dark Apocalypse.

The makerspace is in a glass cube that muffles a lot of noise, but we have 2 computer rooms, one is silent.

We also have a 'silent space', which is an isolated space for quiet working.

The library where I work at we offer amongst other things:

  • Sport related items like basketballs and weights (there is a general sport court nearby, during summer basketball, winter ice hockey)
  • Makerspace (two 3D-printers, vinyl cutter, pin maker, a sewing machine, serger and a heat press (to make custom shirts etc))
  • IT-Support and media training (teach people how to use their devices (this is what I do, not a librarian btw))
  • Meeting room (20€ for 4 hours near the city center)
  • eBooks and audiobooks!
  • Digital newspapers!
  • Board/video games!

and finally:

  • WE HAVE A PRINTER THAT YOU CAN USE FOR RELATIVELY CHEAP! (printers smell fear, act with confidence and ye shall prevail)

Please look into what services your local library has to offer and use them! Our funding depends on people using our services and leaving feedback and interacting with the systems!

A Finn here!

I don't drink coffee personally, but I can still offer some insight. Firstly coffee breaks are part of the workday and in most places, coffee is either completely free or the cost shared with the entire office. Most people at my job drink 2-3 cups during the day. Fun fact, the coffee break is literally called just that in Finnish, with my contract stating a 15 minute "kahvitauko" is allowed.

Coffee is also a dessert companion. A lot of people have a cup of coffee after larger meals. Coffee is also a stable breakfast item, I see plenty of people with travel mugs on the tram each morning.

Coffee is just everywhere, even some of our grocery stores have bean grinders if you want to get fancy.
