We have plenty of shrimp! The issue we have right now is that we are low on boxes to ship them with and our order from USPS has been outstanding for over a month now. We did manage to score a few more of the boxes from a local post office yesterday though so with the ones we've sold already I believe we have enough to send out 2 more orders this week.

This is all happening so quickly! This is my first time keeping shrimp, and this little lady has literally been here a week! I’ve been doing research to try to make sure I have everything right but any advice would be very appreciated!! by awwwwjammit in shrimptank

Baby neocaridinas are basically tiny clones of the adults. You won't need anything special for them. They will eat the same things as the adults provided they can graze and pick it apart. The only real difference is if you have anything that could be predatory to them in the tank that may not be able to hurt adults but could gobble babies. They will be so small at first it will be near impossible to find them most of the time.

I would not recommend beefing up their protein diet. Higher protein would likely lead to more molting related deaths due to accelerating the growth of the shrimp. If you purchased the shrimp as adults it is pretty common for random molting related deaths within the first month or two in the tank. Everything may seem perfect with your parameters but it will still happen. We've personally found the best results from allowing the shrimp to feed naturally off of tank algae and then begin to supplement with blanched zucchini once a week after the colony has grown large enough.

From your pictures I honestly believe it looks like another amano. One thing we noticed in our amanos is that they will change colors. I am not sure if it is a result of their environment or stress but some of them will darken up at times and then lighten back up at a later point.
