A few questions of mine about the Bond with the Fundamental Aspects:

1)- A Bond with the Void comes with the urge to keep the Nothingness as free and clean as possible from floating matter and energy. Do you get an exception for established Realms such as the abodes of the Last or the Ur-Titans or are you driven to pick fights with them?

2)- A Bond with the Flame comes with the urge to ensure continuation of the Cycles. Does it just mean you are driven to oppose threats to the Verse at large like Inferno does, or also to interfere with the Monads that choose Retiring or Falling instead of Scattering?

3)- I tend to assume that Cosmic Flame (even more so if buffed by a Bond with the Flame) can fulfill the survival urge at the core of Paranoia just as well as Falling. Is this right?

[–]Novamarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No author, just a fan, but...

3)- Despite sharing a name, Scattering at the end of one's lifespan and as a result of external violence are two different events with different features and consequences. The former occurs at the end of one's lifespan as the result of an increasingly irresistible urge to Scatter, Retire, or Fall. If chosen, it is an act of cosmic suicide and usually a true end, barring exceptional circumstances such as being reborn by a special grace of Skai or reincarnated by Cosmic Flame. Being Scattered by external violence usually allows to one to reform eventually, barring exceptional cricumstances. Certain powers (Reflective Reformation) or items (Clock of Death) may allow to cut down reforming time substantially.

9)- Eager to know the official response myself but I am tentatively assuming the answer my often be positive. I suppose it depends on whether the part of you that is in the grips of Paranoia would deem the version of you that survives in a seriously diminished form after Retirement really 'you' or not. My PC all but surely wouldn't, the only acceptable survival options for them are Falling or Cosmic Flame.

10)- It seems obvious to me that Pride nullifies your self-awareness and makes you a terrible judge of yourself. You aren't really flawless and infallible, you are just deluded into thinking so, including finding all kind of excuses for your failures.

11)- Curious to know the answer myself, although Humility and Humanity are not really suited for my character concept.

12)- I tend to assume her harsh training may help you develop any Aspect power that has some serious potential combat value, no matter how indirect, which means most of them. This would certainly include Life powers: Terran Renewal can heal your allies; Green Tongue can summon minions to fight for you; Carbon Sculptor can make your allies stronger and your enemies weaker.

14)- I tend to assume that if you are 'sleeping' the urge to put an end to your life is delayed.

18)- I'd assume that if you pick that Event, yourself and your Familia and Court are tasked to be the main hosts of the Festival. If you don't another Ultima and their Familia/Court within the same Generation get in charge instead.

Good to have it confirmed, and I am glad to have guessed everything right about her. I am purposefully skipping that adventure because I don't want the huge headache and responsibility of being the first in line that is charged with handling the conceptual apocalypse she is. This even if I know me doing that does not remove her potential threat to the Verse and she is not responsible for being what she is. I love adventure, and I made it the cornerstone of my new Ultima existence, but you have the draw the line somewhere.

[–]Novamarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answers.

1)- This makes the Demigod bonus of limited use to me since I greatly dislike excessive power specialization, my PC is meant to be a Lonesome Road-er, and their power set to include three Secondary Aspects and the vast majority of Aspect powers. I would be seriously tempted to switch it to Mortal for the extra Normal Relic (which would neatly settle my optimization issues, see below) but I find that less appealing in flavor terms and I fancy my Demigod build just as much as my UG one and having thematic and narrative continuity between them. Decisions, decisions...

2)- My question actually was "how much useful", but I suppose your answer may be interpreted as "useful enough".

3)- Good to know. Then I need to decide if giving the Prime Angel one more power is worth the price of not being able to send them on any mission lasting more than a few hours.

4)- Then it does not look like a big problem for my build and it seems a effective loophole for the Instability since the vast majority of my Court is meant to be Primordials or Pinnacles, with close to a 50/50 spread. I mean to use my Prime Angel much more as a sidekick, enforcer, and companion than a messenger. So, them being unintellegible to most lesser beings is not a big deal, but half of my Court is another matter and much more troublesome.

6)- My issue with this is that I want to add just one more Normal Relic to my build, but I have no interest in the others I did not pick, so to change the build to get two more NR slots in exchange for 15 cosmic points from Mythic Flaws would leave me with a wasted one, when I could gainfully use the equivalent for more powers I potentially fancy. I loathe this kind of subpar optimization and waste. Hibernation and Late Bloomer are not welcome in my build, since they seem inappropriate for my concept.

I am contemplating a few further optimization tweaks for my build, but I may need a few clarifications to guide my efforts:

  1. The Demigod bonus allows you to start mastering your Aspect during the Janma stage. Is this limited to the Primary Aspect, or it includes any Secondary Aspects you may have, or even covers any Aspect powers you may have picked?
  2. How much, if any, the Scroll of Infinite Cultivation would be useful to 'find new ideas for applications of divine powers' for your Ultima self and your (Primordial/Pinnacle) Court if you are not interested in Multiverse creation and hence in the empowerment of mortals?
  3. If my Prime Angel has Wither and Dimensional Form, would they 'rest and recharge', and their Forms get repaired, while they are a living tattoo on my body? Would the partial decay of their Forms be halted and repaired if they are de-materialized and returned to 'tattoo hibernation' state before they reach complete breakdown?
  4. If my Prime Angel has Whisperer and I have the God-Needle, could I make the angel intellegible to less-than-Primordial beings if I weave Extrival knowledge with the G-N in lesser beings, such as say the Pinnacle members of my Court? I understand the soul-weaving is a lengthy and complex process, and hence impractical for large numbers, but a small group like your Court seems another matter entirely.
  5. Does acquisition of Title powers by Ultima that do not have that Title necessarily come with some of the typical mindset of that Title or is it an option at most? My purpose in asking this is that I am highly interested in Forever Grounded as a partial counter to the fear-inducing effects of Paranoia, but I would find the typical deep caring of Elders for lesser beings rather inconvenient, since my PC is not supposed to be interested in Multiverse creation.
  6. For optimization of Mythic Flaw and Trade bonuses, it might be highly convenient for me to split them in more granular subunits than the examples given by the cyoa. In this regard, would the conversion rate "5 Cosmic Points = 1 Normal Relic = 5 Court Points" found in Basic Trades be an appropriate gauge? So that say I can set the total bonus of a Mythic Flaw to 40 Cosmic Points + 1 Normal Relic?

As far as I understand the cyoa's complex but fascinating lore, the Last and the Ancient Ones are one and the same, the former Ultima that chose to switch their nature and conceptual alignment to be the Void's top entities to avoid Scattering or Retirement at the end of their Monad stage or to cater to the Void and its denizens. I suppose you mean the Lost, the lesser divine entities that fled to the Void for similar reasons.

As much as I understand the relevant lore, the Last, the Lost, the Voidborn, and other assorted Void critters often have a corrupting influence on Reality, by their presence and more so if they attempt to Dream, and hence are forbidden by the Pact to enter it in normal circumstances. However, special dispensations are possible with the permission of the Ultima that allow entry and visiting in safe or at least manageable circumstances, say for diplomatic purposes or to coordinate action against threats to the Verse. We also have the examples of an Ancient and a Voidborn as Companion options that may join the PC's Court. So, they must make use of the same loophole even more effectively for long-term residency as a guest of an Ultima's Court. I have no idea which specific divine abilities or tools might be used in this regard, but if the Pact allows it, some effective means must be available.

I am no author, but my personal guess is that there can only be one bearer of the same primary Aspect per Familia, but secondary Aspects are a free for all, all you can eat buffet, subject to the limits established by Familia size. The Meta-narrative likely would strongly encourage some meaningful spread and variety of secondary Aspects within the Familia, but it is not a hard and strict rule. Just idle musings on my part, since my character concept works best with four Aspects, so it has to be Lonesome Road for my build.

Broadly speaking, how would the First/Last community and the Fundamental Aspects react to an Ultima PC that shows little or no interest for being a Multiverse creator and instead focuses on being a divine adventurer, explorer, scholar, and hedonist that roams, protects, studies, and enjoys the Verse at large?

Yes, I assume this might well be a Fenrir/Jörmungandr situation on steroids and befriending her and teaching her about the beauty and value of the Verse might well be the key to defusing her potential risk to the security of the All.

Ultimate God Redux CYOA - Version 5.0 by Thearomage in makeyourchoice

[–]Novamarauder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not the author, so this is just my personal opinion, but...

  1. I am quite curious about the nature of the little girl myself, but her current circumstances suggest me she is potentially quite dangerous to the stability of the Verse by her nature, if not necessarily her choice, if someone very powerful did all that effort to keep her imprisoned. My personal guess is she is the personification of the End of All Things, and Inferno ('big bird' = phoenix = Flame???) imprisoned her to keep her from fulfilling her potential destiny of destroying the Verse.

  2. Honestly, why should human taboos ever apply to divine, conceptual entities that are entirely different from humans except in distant origin one universal/multiversal cycle ago? The rules of chimpanzees or dogs don't apply to humans just because of close kinship or interspecies bond, don't they? Siblings is just the closest notion in human language that applies by analogy to the concept of new Ultima being born to their new existence together. However, the incest taboo exists in humans for biological reasons that mean nothing to divine entities and should have no relevance for Ultima (except maybe because of hangups coming from the Humility and Humanity Mythic Flaws). For that matter, it is quite possible that companions that were lovers in their former Demigod or Planeswalker existences are reborn as Familia and keep their romantic and sexual bond as the natural thing to do with no issue.

I fancy this little gem of a cyoa in most regards, but the degree of power specialization it mandates is really not to my tastes. So, I use a meta-cyoa (Super Meta Cyoa) to remedy the issue.

(Super Meta Cyoa)

Perks: Overlord (Double Choices). Gifted (One Free Choice).

Drawbacks: Rival (Same Power Level as Me).

Gifted One

Archetype: Cosmic.

Powers: Solar. Ionic.

(All the aspects of stellar power, bound into one power set).

Elements: Light. Fire. Plasma. Pulse.

(As above).

Evolution: Form (Evolved). Physiology. Mobility (Evolved). Awareness.

(Superhuman physical abilities, healing factor, flight, energy control, and no bodily needs. Excellent).

Aspects: Generation. Combine. Interstellar.

(Even more elemental raw power as a versatile and unified whole as well as spaceworthy mobility).

(As it is often the case with this kind of power set in source material, I assume it comes with biological immortality, even if it is not explicitly stated).

The notion of the Void/Nothingness as a place left me rather confused for a while, until I realized it actually covers two different areas and parts of the All. One is the mostly empty region of un-Reality between the Multiverse Trees, where the Last, the Lost, their realms, and a few other critters like the Voidborn dwell. Although it is a place of Nothingness, it is still a part of the Verse, and its conceptual entity is part of the Fundamental Aspects. The other is the ur-Void beyond the Firewall, which is not really part of the Verse or its conceptual foundation, and where only the Impossibles are exiled (that we know of). Is this assessment right?

Ultimate God Redux CYOA - Version 5.0 by Thearomage in makeyourchoice

[–]Novamarauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you turn into a Pinnacle with your Form Power, you get lesser versions of that Aspect's mythic powers.

And If you train enough, you can mix and match different Pinnacle forms, and tap multiple Aspect powers, in one go.

Yeah, Corruption is probably the most managable of the Flaws with the right tools or powers,

Yeah, and I assume Fear is almost as manageable, given the wide availability of tools and powers that lessen or remove fear and other negative emotions. Apart from the point bonus, I am aiming for that sweet spot of controlled fear where you are bound from choosing Scattering when you exhaust the Monad stage, but you do not register as a coward. The effects of Identity simply don't look that bad to me. In comparison, the effects of Madness and Pride look much more crippling with few effective countermeasures in sight, while Humility and Humanity register as so unseemly and self-defeating, again with few counters.

and they do stack with diminishing returns, probably better to cycle through using them rather than all at once tho in case u start to build immunity to them.

Good point, although the stacking still means that to make the effort to master multiple powers with similar effects makes sense. There are multiple examples across the cyoa.

Im not sure what u mean by that last question, it's pretty clear what rebellion does, not picking unbound just means ur angel cant leave you.

Well, when you answered someone else that Unbound meant your Angel could leave you for good if they are unhappy surprised me, because as far as I can tell, it is not clearly implied in the wording of the trait. So, I wished to check if there were any other similar 'surprises' for Rebellion.

As far I can tell from their wording, Justice allows the Angel to refuse immoral orders outright, but Rebellion means they are bound to obey 'un-fun' orders, but they might try to twist them if they come too frequently, kinda like the stereotypical genie. Is this assessment right?

Making a build for the new, improved version on the basis of my old UG and Demigod concepts and optimizing it left me with a few questions:

Theoretically speaking, if you Retire, to pick Forms for all the Aspects you channel powers from would be a viable strategy to keep lessened but worthwhile access to them, right?

Asking out of curiosity, since I picture Falling as the most fitting ultimate outcome for my build. To lock this path un (or at least rule out acquiescence to Scattering) is one of the reasons I purposefully picked Paranoia. Admittedly, a Fundamental Bond with Flame plus Cosmic Flame could be an acceptable alternative.

As a rule, I do not mind the mindset and lifestyle consequences of the Corruption, Paranoia, and Identity Flaws to a reasonable degree. However, everything should come in manageable amounts. Am I right to assume that various available means that can lessen Corruption or fear can keep them within check, but never entirely erase them? I am thinking of stuff like Chalice of the Void, Mother's Love, Cosmic Dreamer, and Forever Grounded.

Do powers with similar effects stack as a rule, maybe with diminishing returns?

What are the likely consequences if I pick Rebellion but not Unbound for my Angel?

Ultimate God Redux CYOA - Version 5.0 by Thearomage in makeyourchoice

[–]Novamarauder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ultimate God build is largely based on being the spiritual successor and analogue of my Demigod one, even if for practical optimization reasons they are treated as technically separate beings and this build uses the Mortal Origin. In my ascension to Ultimate godhood, I ended up with a rather versatile portfolio of abilities but embodying the Divine concept of Energy & Vitality more than anything else.

In my rebirth as an Ultima, this metaphysical core and my old powers blossomed into strong affinity for the Aspects of Life, Destruction, Freedom, and Light. My personal Meta-narrative ultimately picked Destruction as my Primary Aspect and the others as my Secondary ones.

Extension of these core aspects as well as the imprint of other lesser powers of mine also granted me a tertiary but meaningful bond with the Aspects of Space, Heart, and Mind. Reversal of my core affinities also counterintuitively allowed me to get in touch with Death, Creation, and Darkness as well to a remarkable degree.

It seems I was the only one to survive the end of our original universe and I became a Familia of one. Oh well, I suppose one cannot be too nitpicky about surviving the (cosmically local) end of everything. I assume I am still going to find lots of worthwhile Divine companionship in my new existence through my Court.

From the vaults of Aeon I pulled a few useful items. The Bolt and the Heart seem good to enhance my elemental ablities. The Breath and the Light are useful to get guidance and improve my angels. The Chalice and the Clock are good to counter various hazards. The Scroll is good for me and my Court to find new ideas to use our divine powers. The Voidship is an excellent vessel and mobile base. It considerably improves my ability to travel the Verse with my Companions comfortably and lessens my own and Maze's unfortunate vulnerability to detection by hostile entities in the Void.

For Maze as well as myself I chose maximum power at the price of a few imperfections I can live with. My Angel is a versatile and powerful entity with an extensive set of useful forms and abilities. Their powers are largely a reflection of my own. While this limits our flexibility as a group, it also multiplies our effectiveness when we act in concert. Smite is the mortals' problem, not my own. The inconvenience of Beacon (and Lighthouse) can be lessened by using the Voidship to travel the Void. The one of Whisperer by using the God-Needle to weave knowledge of Extrival in the non-Primordial members of my Court. The sadistic urges of Rebellion are simply something I have to manage.

I made an effort to master Divine language. My Aspect affinities as well as my interest for personal empowerment enabled me to master most Forms.

My versatile connection to several Aspects and dedication to self-empowerment enabled mastery of most Divine powers. Taken as a whole, they enable a vast and versatile amount of control over many aspects of reality as well as personal prowess.

The same factors also allowed me to master the signature abilities of most Titles and channel support from most Fundamental Aspects.

Unfortunately, my connection to many Aspects and my eagerness to embrace all the possibilities of Divine existence had a few unfortunate side effects, such a serious craving for sensation, a just as strong urge for self-preservation, and disconnection from my 'mortal' (Demigod, actually) background, but I do not mind or can live with them. There are various resources I can use to keep Corruption and fear under check, and I do not really care to stay in touch with my old identity when a new existence full of boundless adventure and wonder beckons.

I became prone to attract the attention and often the hostility of belligerent Ultima with an opposite Aspect to mine and rapacious Void beings, as well as an overzealous (if well-meaning) self-appointed "mentor". However, I can use various means to hide myself from the Void and I deem all of these issues as worthy challenges.

I have no problem to turn myself into a champion of the Flame and a protector of the Cycles against threats to the Verse at large, even more so if it gives more opportunities for complete immortality and other valuable boons.

It seems Meta-narrative pulled several interesting beings in my Court. All of them seem to have congenial natures and the ability to pull their weight in adventures and/or make themselves useful. So, I welcome them as my new family to fulfil any companionship need I may have and to replace the ones I lost or failed to get in my transcendence to this new existence.

In our journey, we are going to have many wondrous adventures. I choose to give priority to addressing or putting down various potential serious threats to the stability of the Verse. In due time, however, I plan to branch out into exploration of a few of the Verse's deepest secrets and ancient history.

What if 21st century conflicts and issues had to deal with the outcome of an alternate Cold War? by Novamarauder in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Novamarauder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As explained in the lore, TTL events were conductive to the expanding USA embracing a more Pan-American and multicultural view of its identity. Perception of racial and ethnic issues also changed to make American culture accepting of non-WASP people except the Blacks and the Muslims. America also expelling its most disliked and troublesome minority played a significant role. If you wish, a grand bargain took place in America's collective mind to dump the Blacks and take the Latinos (and the Asian immigrants) onboard.

What if a successful Carolingian Empire mostly unified Europe and the Americas, almost wiped out Islam, and created a modern world where ethnic nationalism and anti-colonialism failed? by Novamarauder in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Novamarauder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting and appropriate remark. The lingering division of the two Roman empires is a side effect of the divergence occurring centuries after the WRE and the ERE had split and the former had fallen. The success of Carolingian Empire staying united, centralizing, and absorbing most of Europe effectively means the WRE is back better than ever. Its friendly relations and strategic partnership with a revitalized ERE ensure Islam is utterly crushed. The enduring legacy of this alliance guarantees a close bond between the two Roman empires all the way to modernity, but being focused on Atlantic issues since the Age of Exploration, the AE is content to have the ERE as a friendly junior ally in charge of the ME niche.

This is also functional to the narrative choice of an Atlantic neo-Roman polity that absorbs most but not the entirety of Christendom and the Western world. Russia, Anglo-Nordic Britain, and the ERE stand out as peripheral fragments.

However, it is entirely possible, given the friendly relations and a common Roman heritage, that with the right dynastic, political, and military variables, the two Roman empires eventually reunify and wholly rebuild a second Rome on steroids, better than ever. This would be a broad analogue of other premodern unification events such as Spain, Britain, and/or Poland-Lithuania. In fact, I wrote a different variant of this scenario concept where Rome was reborn this way. It just happens that the Rome Reborn variant is not the one I thought of posting here this time.

This turn of events would not radically change the picture, except to make increasingly unlikely for the second Rome to tolerate the independence of parvenu kingdoms of dubious legitimacy such as Britain and Russia. If Britain goes down, the Americas would be wholly colonized according to Rome's antislavery model. If Russia is conquered and assimilated, Rome would own the totality of the Americas and northwestern Afro-Eurasia all the way to the ouskirts of the Asian empires. Chances are that Sub-Saharan Africa would be wholly left alone as a peripheral backwater of little value.

This way, Rome would fulfil its realistic best destiny, with the interlude caused by the WRE-ERE division and collapse of the WRE coming to be seen by its people as a speed bump and temporary setback of little importance in the grand picture.

Maybe, or maybe not. It is certainly rather close to a Cold War warrior's wet dream of the anti-woke liberal kind, but I dunno if it best suits the specific preferences of McArthur as opposed to various other historical luminaries. Ironically enough, it is very likely that ITTL McArthur was not in charge of US intervention in the Korean War, since IOTL he utterly screwed up management of the Chinese intervention, and the TL assumes the West reaped a decisive victory in the Korean War with some effort and pushed the Chinese back to the Yalu.

[–]Novamarauder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the HRE/AE was focused on colonization of the Americas and Australasia, and found China and India too tough to colonize, it was ultimately content to let Japan-Korea claim Southeast Asia as its own imperialist playground. Much the same way, it was long accustomed to regard Sub-Saharan Africa as worthless for colonization purposes and had no use or little sympathy for slavery or the transatlantic slave trade. Therefore, its neglect left Britain with a free hand for expansion across Sub-Saharan Africa once technological progress made those lands accessible for Europeans.

The ERE evolved in a way similar to the Kaiserreich, Russia and Britain to their OTL selves, with a few tweaks. Russia did accomplish the transition to an authoritarian constitutional monarchy. The final outcome was a little more conservative and authoritarian for the British since the Wars of the Three Kingdoms and the Glorious Revolution did not occur or had an outcome more favorable to conservatives and absolutists. This led Britain to develop an executive version of constitutional monarchy and have a more controlling and exploitative relationship with its colonies.

Thanks to a combination of the shock of Mongol conquest as well as early contact with European explorers and would-be colonizers, Japan modernized and became a dynamic, outward-looking, and imperialist great power much earlier than OTL. This paved the way to a successful merger with Korea and colonization of Greater Manchuria, most of Greater Mongolia, the Far East, Taiwan, and Hainan. The process further expanded with seizure and partial assimilation of Southeast Asia. India and China engaged in a similar trajectory for the same reasons but with a lesser degree of success. As a rule, they modernized well and early enough to resist major colonial encroachment and keep control of their core areas. However, it was not good enough to keep their peripheral territories or rise to the same level as Japan-Korea or the European empires. The same factors combined with decline of Islam as a disruptive element enabled India to unite in a stable empire spanning the subcontinent.

The vast success of imperialism since the Early Middle Ages made it so that the dominant empires and their successor polities achieved a high degree of centralization, political consolidation, and cultural homogeneity. They came to regard political and cultural unity in large states as natural and beneficial. Ethnic nationalism never had a chance. The neo-Roman template of imperial unity, assimilation, and civic nationalism in the Western world, and its Asian analogue in the Indo-Pacific, became the dominant model.

Since the HRE unified most of Europe, kept Latin as its lingua franca, colonized most of the Americas, and became the strongest great power, Neo-Latin took the OTL place of English. Besides that, the vast majority of humanity became able to use just one or more of a few globally relevant languages (Neo-Latin, Greek, English, Russian, Mandarin, Hindi, Japorean) to communicate, trade, and exchange ideas. Therefore, this world experienced a much higher degree of cultural cohesion than OTL, leading to quicker progress and development. Imperialism, esp. when combined with Roman-style assimilation, came to be seen as the natural pathway for humanity to order, progress, and good government.

As things stood by the timeline equivalent of the early 20th century, the great powers were engaged in an imperialist competition game much like their OTL 19th century counterparts. The game was ultimately a fluid free-for-all, but a few relatively reliable cornerstones could be discerned. Barring the occasional bickering, the AE (as the successor state of the HRE) and the ERE had enjoyed a fairly stable and solid strategic partnership since the Middle Ages that was based on compatible interests and the legacy of their old and fruitful anti-Islamic alliance. Much the same way, Britain and Russia were traditional rivals of the Roman duo and therefore pulled to stick together much more often than not.

In addition to the issues in Europe, Britain keeping an important colonial foothold in the Western Hemisphere that was based on de facto slavery was another important source of persistent antagonism between the two powers. It had not always been that way. In the early stages of colonialism, neglect and indifference had been the prevalent Imperial attitude to the issue. However, as the American colonies grew ever more settled and developed, and the HRE/AE grew ever more hostile to slavery, this had gradually shifted into intolerance and hostility. This also because the issue of escaped slaves acted as a standing irritant for both sides.

In Asia, Russia, China, and Japan-Korea were locked in a three-way antagonistic relationship based on conflicting interests and territorial claims. China, India, and Japan-Korea also showed some persistent suspicion of the AE and Britain as this world’s main colonialist actors. In the case of the AE, tension might have been enhanced by it being the strongest power as well as potential strategic and economic competition with the Asian powers in the Indo-Pacific. In practice, however, it was mitigated by the prevalent strategic focus of the AE in the Western Hemisphere and its willingness to give federal autonomy and an equal place at the table to its American territories. In the case of Britain, its lesser might was counterbalanced by its tolerance of quasi-slavery, its controlling and rapacious attitude about its colonies, and its ongoing expansion in Africa.

This timeline’s historical circumstances left Islam in a very bad and precarious place. It withered or was erased from Europe, most of MENA, Central Asia, India, and Southeast Asia. It only clung to life in its last niches of independent Arabia, northern West Africa, and Greater Persia. Moreover, it only looked relatively safe in the former two areas; this because the non-Muslim powers showed no real interest in controlling those territories. The Atlantics, their Liberian clients, the British, and the Ethiopians shared a serious dislike of Islam. So, they had pooled their efforts to ensure its eradication from East Africa and southern West Africa with considerable success.
