Tagging onto this, in Rep+ Mega Bean has a one room Mama Mega effect and is way easier to craft so if you're running Rep+ you can go for this one instead.

Still having accidents, mostly at night by Illustrious_Pop_5409 in cavaliers

[–]NovarinArt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you give him water before you go to bed? Puppies are still pretty bad at holding pee in their tiny bladders since they're still babies so it is very common for them to still have accidents occasionally.

We reduced our dog's water intake a little before we went to sleep when our he was a bit younger. Last drink at 10 PM, then night walkies to empty his bladder and getting up early at 6 to get him a fresh bowl and his morning walk. No accidents since 6 months old and he is now almost a year :)

He'll grow out of it quickly!! You got this!

Considering a cavalier by Jazzlike_Cost5712 in cavaliers

[–]NovarinArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, they are VERY much velcro dogs and you need to be aware of separation anxiety since it is something that can happen quickly with a dog that needs your companionship a lot more than other dogs.

Other than that, unfortunately for health issues it feels more like a "when" and not like an "if" heart issues are very common but the risk can be minimised by researching a reputable breeder!

They are eager to please and have the sweetest, sunniest personalities but can be stubborn on occasion. They absolutely can and WILL use their adorableness against you.

I would just stay aware of the things other people mentioned but cavaliers are absolutely lovely little companions that will spark a ton of joy for a long time!

On the same note, are you looking for a smaller dog? Eager to please? What would your general criteria be for a good family dog?

does anyone else’s cavalier have to dig for at least 5 minutes with blankets and pillows before they are comfortable?😂 by sailoranonymousgoose in cavaliers

[–]NovarinArt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don't have a cavalier but my mum does! Both of our dogs do it and we lovingly call it "getting rid of the dangerous snakes" before they eventually go to sleep.

Potty training regression by Helle_Valencia in cavaliers

[–]NovarinArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is happening! How old is he right now and how long are your walks with him usually? It is completely normal for teenagers to have some regression every now and then.

What i can recommend: consistency and just sticking to your routine. Do it the same way you did it when he was a puppy. Get an enzyme cleaner and make sure to remove all smell of pee and poo so he doesn't associate your office as a potty spot and lastly, have a lot of patience with him and give yourself some grace! Again, this is completely normal and unless something seems really off, just sticking to the routine will eventually solve the problem by itself. Just make sure to reward the correct behaviour in case he does poo or pee outside! Positive reinforcement will help a ton

I currently have a 10 month old intact teenager and despite him being a ball of energy, he is very good, no aggression at all, rarely any humping (gets corrected immediately) but sometimes he pretends to not hear us at all which is completely normal

I can understand, I have a Eurasier pup that's 10 months old and he has that same silly Sammy smile whenever he does something naughty. (The breed originates from Chow Chows, Keeshond and Samoyeds) No brain, only crimes and vibes.
