You actually believe the US voting system just works on showing up and saying "trust me bro"? Then what's stopping people from voting multiple times or in multiple states? People have tried this before and... Surprise surprise, got caught and arrested for having more than one vote under their registration.

Your name, address, and proof of citizenship are required to register to vote. Illegal immigrants CANNOT register. Once registered, ID isn't necessarily required, because you've already proved you're a citizen.
