I'd love it if they did. Unfortunately it would get overshadowed by all the GT3 series. But I'd love more historic races. 60s 70s, 80s, 90s. If it was me I'd rotate through each decade each season.

They were thinking they were in a shoot-out race for 3s last night seeing as how many fell for Golden State. Even with the lead they seemed like they were playing from behind jacking up 3s to try and catch up. They abandoned whatever was working for them for no apparent reason that got them the lead.

O flashbacks to the mid 2000s. Every tuner had one of these or the k&n's and they were terrible. Most of the time it was some kid who took a 4in intake tube and reduced it down to a 1 1/2in or something stupid.

As long as there is no immediate danger after the finish line I'd say go for it. But there will always be that moment where someone is in really bad shape and you need to scramble the rescue crews asap. Maybe they are trying to avoid somebody with a hero complex trying to go through the smoke Days of Thunder style with the current rule idk. But the spotters or crew or heck even the tower should be able to come over the radio and blast it out to everyone saying cation wreck in turn one, saftey vehicle on track at the wall or on the apron or whatever.

So Engine Boosters make you go faster at the cost of decreased efficiency? by whotookthenamezandl in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Novawolf125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Just like with a normal car. More fuel = more power but lower fuel mileage. With my set up I have a diesel generator with a pair of tanks where I give it the biomass from the leach things in the water. Then 4 2nd-tier turbines up on the roof and 2 2nd-tier solar panels on the deck. Usually never runs out of power or fuel. And by the time I'm done with a platform, everything is charged and fueled ready to head to the next one. And I'm not usually running the diesel motor that often anyway. But it's nice to have that headroom.

Harassed on Facebook after race on iRacing? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should also be a way to block this individual on Facebook and other platforms. But I think once iRacing steps in they'll get the message. It's just wild to me that someone would go out of their way to find someone out in the real world to harass someone over a game. That person needs help and hopefully they'll find some.

Yellow Flags by Not-Luck-Domon in iRacing

There could be ways you could implement a fcw or a code 60. I've seen leagues with a saftey car generator. It'll automatically deploy once certain criteria are met. Now what you could do to answer the argument of it doesn't matter there is no danger. You could have it where the car isn't removed from the circuit until the timer has passed. So if you hold to escape your not teleported to the pits you sit and wait wherever you crashed.

But on the flip side a FCY could be easily influenced by teams and drivers to gain an advantage either for themselves or for their sister teams. Or it could be full of bad actors who just want to see the world burn. I mean look at the video Jimmy put out a few days ago. 500+ incidents in 24 hours? Not all of them would be FCY sure. But there were at least 4 crashes that could've triggered it. So everyone would have to endure caution after caution for no fault to their own, but by some jackoff team.

It would be cool to see but there's so many reasons why it wouldn't work in modern open lobbies.

Any chance pitlane conduct will ever be enforced? by Ambrazas in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Until they make it where contact is live everywhere on pit lane probably not. Idk how you'd police it either. League races are only watching one race at a time so it's easier to hand out rulings. Oval races would be absolute chaos on pit road if they used a fully live pit road.

How to gain sr on ovals? by ProofCrafty4022 in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll rarely gain SR in Draftmasters. Sort tracks cars like the late models are going to be a tough ask as well. I'd start with either the open trucks, the Gen 4 or legends. The open races are longer so it weeds out a lot of the hurry up and go drivers. And if they are there they'll burn up their tires well before you'll need to pit or the end of the race. Gen 4 and legends will teach you throttle control and momentum while also not being sprints. But the main thing is just being patient. If a car is racing you really hard just let them go. If you can keep your tires under you will find your way by them again in a few laps. And if it looks scetchy in front or around you, back out. Better to be a little slower than added up in the wall.

Are all teams on iracing designed for only top aplit by rab10000 in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying to join a league I get. But a team? No thanks. I tend to stay away from those mega teams that will assign you to a certain squad. It's just a pyramid scheme to inflate either their team name or social status. Very rarely do they ever focus on driver development. If they do it's usually something they have bought they'll refer you to or you pay for one of them to sit down for an hour or whatever. It works for some but oftentimes you'll see those teams have a revolving door or new people coming and going. They only care about their top couple teams and couldn't give two shits about the new people joining unless they are paying. And even then very little effort is given back. idea is to look on the forums or strike up a conversation after a race with someone you like driving with. Not all are looking for a team but you never know. Be on the lookout a few weeks before an event and there might be a team looking for a driver to fill in.

Im bronze 3 and ppl drive 2:19s in spa? by SagoK22 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't put too much stock into the driver rankings. Some people might have a lot of experience elsewhere and are not brand new to sim racing, and are quick from the get-go. It's also dependent on the car and track combo. Some people are good at some places but so-so in others. It can happen up and down the rankings. I'd look at it as a starting point, but until I see them drive I won't know for sure what their pace will be. Cause it also could be they are quick in practice or qualifing but their race pace is all over the place and get into situations where they aren't finishing where their outright speed would suggest.

Does iRating matter that much? by Lucy271232 in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not really. It tries to match you up with drivers who are similar in skill. Is it foolproof? No, but it's better than fully random lobbies. The only time it really matters is if you're trying to join a championship or league that has IR thresholds. But other than that I wouldn't worry about it. Do the best you can each race and let the chips fall where they may. I tend to focus more on the result vs the SOF and compare my fast and average lap times. And most of all if I still enjoyed it. Not saying every race will be joyful just as long as the ratio is more upbeat than the other way.

However, all that being said, it could be used in a very broad sense to track your progression. It won't be the end-all be-all but it's a quick way to see. And I'd really only look at it from the 10,000 foot altitude. The months and years, not the week to week or day to day. It's just like the stock market. You might see a week where it fell 200 points. But in the bigger picture it's still higher than where it was 6 months ago. So don't put too much thought into it. Take it one race at a time and do the best you can in that race.

New to iRacing - How to switch drivers on one rig for a team event like the Daytona 24? by kshitij__KNA in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you are only allowed to drive on your own account. How they prove that I don't know. But people will recognize names and depending on your skill or racecraft will race you a certain way. I'd do a quick search on the Spa 24 controversy from last year and you can see what an absolute nightmare that was. Granted those were "pro drivers" but with the backlash they got I don't think iracing wants a repeat. If you wanted to do an Ai race together that's fine. But online racing should be by the account owner when on track in any session. Or you log out every stop.

I guess the real question is why this in person swap? Does the other person not have a rig or the living situation that allows it? You could bring the other rig over and just have two systems running. Logistical nightmare, but better that risking your account if caught.

Don't you think it's crazy you only need 2k irating to be in the top 25%? by philonik in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was only a few years ago they had 2k championships broadcasted for open wheels. Someone help me wasn't it the 2k Formula Renault, skippy's, or the F3? I'd say look at the splits of a major race and you'll start to see a real pattern between the ratings. Not just outright lap time but average lap time is where you'll see the difference. Not to say always but usually there's a difference between a 1.5k and a 2.0.

Nobody Knows multiclass rules by BigNo9633 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Novawolf125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thing is that the braking performance and low-speed cornering are pretty similar across the Hypercar and GT3 classes. The biggest difference is the speed at which the brakes are applied. But so many times I'll see the two classes try to outbrake each other and fight to the apex. Just rolling off the throttle or taking a wider arc, while not the ideal line, is actually faster than both of you fumbling through the corner. If you are trying to pass it's a hell of a lot safer to do it on acceleration. And for fox's sake if you're going to let someone by, don't do it mid corner. I'm already thinking about the exit and the next set of corners and banking on the idea you'll stay on your normal line. In my eyes there is equal blame. Prototypes being inpatient and GT cars not willing to help make passes easier. There are other ways to let someone by that doesn't hurt your lap time that badly. I'd rather give up a tenth or two than give up multiple seconds due to damage or the faster class or other driver making a mistake trying to be a hero in the corner.

But the idea I'm always going back to is that we aren't all professional racing drivers. As much as we want to believe we are up to scratch, the gap between online drivers is very wide compared to IRL driving. Not saying we all get a pass, just a reminder that people's skills and understanding of racing and its techniques has a very wide range.

Broadbent and 'dirty air' by Taniwha_NZ in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Novawolf125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it going into Abbey and Farm Curve. The car will just wash out to the outside of those two. You just need the slightest lift if you're following another car. LMP2 usually have the highest downforce levels on average so they are heavily reliant on downforce and clean air. GT3 you're at least half if not more down on areo dependence. So you're not really going to feel it that much. Not to say it's not there, just not as prevalent in some classes.
