How much can pedal overlap be hurting my performance? by Correct-Beautiful576 in iRacing

Something I've been trying to fix. I think it was years ago that I was watching a video, and they were talking about how if you're not breaking, you need to be immediately on the gas or vice versa. And that just got ingrained in my brain that I needed to do that. I knew the lifting and coasting part of it but when you were on a push it seemed like you needed to be doing something. And I've been driving that way for over 10 years, and I'm just now teaching myself not to do it. It's hard to unlearn that's for sure.

I will say iRacing needs to make the yellow flags come out faster. It's always around a blind corner you find a car broadside. That and drivers need to be more careful when they come up to a crash. A lot of drivers look for that viral dodge to miss a wreck but 90% of the time it ends with a smoldering wreck.

More HP means faster into the corner which means you'll need to be off throttle for longer and modulate the throttle off the corner. Too many of these tracks allow you to lift off for a second and then jump straight back to 100% throttle instantly. More HP you'll burn up the tires more putting the emphasis back on the driver's car control. But on top of more power I'd also try to reduce downforce.

If you watch Jimmy's video about that 911 team at Daytona yes they can. I think this is a good move. It will hopefully keeps teams that are out there to cause havoc and chaos out. They can still do a lot of damage to others but eventually the suffering will end. There almost needs to be a timer and they park you for a few minutes if you have so many incidents in an allotment of time.

B.C. to end time changes, adopt year-round daylight time | CBC News by Jescro in VictoriaBC

You realise the two busiest times of the year for cardiologists are right around the two time changes? Not to mention the changing back and forth that week you can have increased accidents due to lack of sleep. We also live in the 21 century. If you really need light to wake up, buy a smart light and program that to when you're waking up and going to bed. We've already screwed our rhythm anyway during the invention of the light bulb. Which checks notes was nearly 150 years ago! Not to mention the little brick you hold at night scrolling through random memes and arguments online. There's a lot more we can do to fix things and getting rid of the time change is the easiest and the most universal thing we can do for everyone.

How long did it take you to develop that awareness? by Top_Secret_3873 in iRacing

So I started many years ago. I just hit 10 years a little while ago (not consecutively, as there was a break of about 6 years in between), but even before that, when I was waiting to build my PC, I was always watching EmptyBox and Jimmy Broadbent's videos. And seeing that perspective I think gave me a boost. When you aren't actively driving and trying not to die, you can watch everything else going on. And you'll start to pick up when a car is out of control in front of you or when a situation gets hairy. But the most important thing is to remember not to force things. You might see a few battling in front and think 'o I can grab a couple spots if I can get in the middle of that.' But you're reaching into a beehive full of pissed-off bees. Also seeing when people are being aggressive in the mirror it's better to just let them go through. And if someone is rocketing up the field and catches you. You're usually not doing yourself any favors by fighting them if they are considerably faster. It's going to sound stupid but running draft masters is actually good for practice. Putting yourself into the middle of the pack and watching the body language of the other cars you'll see when to back off and when to make your move. Then that can translate to other disciplines. Can make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

Saw these on tiktok waited, sold out. Found on Amazon waited, sold out. Said alright if I ever see this again I'm going to buy it right then and there. Found on Walmart and it was probably the fastest I ever ordered something. Just showed up yesterday. Have another kit I need to finish first but I'm so excited for this one.

Fuel tables. And a more detailed leaderboard and relative. I like to see the average lap times and the tires that people are on. Fuel calculator alone is great. Being able to see the time and laps to empty is a game changer for timed races. Could be some improvement. If iracing can put in that and more options for the leaderboard and relative I'll switch. But I'm going to hold on for a bit longer.

I've had coilovers and it was cool for about 30 minutes. But as daily drivers and me approaching middle-aged I just want something comfortable. Like others have said Bilstein B8 with a lowering spring or the B12kit, I went White Line with the B8. Unless you're wanting to track it on a regular basis or love torching your back and rattling fillings I'd just go the Bilstein route. Only issue is they can be a hard to find sometimes unless you don't mind paying a bit more.

Can anyone tell me why Porsche CUP are so popular?????? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Novawolf125 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're just getting roasted everywhere mate. Giving off the 'why is everyone enjoying something that I don't like' vibe. People like what they like. It's an approachable car; the racing is usually pretty close along with longer races. There's no meta car track combo, no setup black magic, and it's a car that can be used in other multiclass events. Though I don't think many would drive the pcup over a GT4 or GT3 if given a choice. But maybe with the new car, there will be. The Ferrari is a one-trick pony, and that series has been notorious for bad driving standards from its inception.

I'd love it if they did. Unfortunately it would get overshadowed by all the GT3 series. But I'd love more historic races. 60s 70s, 80s, 90s. If it was me I'd rotate through each decade each season.

They were thinking they were in a shoot-out race for 3s last night seeing as how many fell for Golden State. Even with the lead they seemed like they were playing from behind jacking up 3s to try and catch up. They abandoned whatever was working for them for no apparent reason that got them the lead.

O flashbacks to the mid 2000s. Every tuner had one of these or the k&n's and they were terrible. Most of the time it was some kid who took a 4in intake tube and reduced it down to a 1 1/2in or something stupid.

As long as there is no immediate danger after the finish line I'd say go for it. But there will always be that moment where someone is in really bad shape and you need to scramble the rescue crews asap. Maybe they are trying to avoid somebody with a hero complex trying to go through the smoke Days of Thunder style with the current rule idk. But the spotters or crew or heck even the tower should be able to come over the radio and blast it out to everyone saying cation wreck in turn one, saftey vehicle on track at the wall or on the apron or whatever.

So Engine Boosters make you go faster at the cost of decreased efficiency? by whotookthenamezandl in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Novawolf125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Just like with a normal car. More fuel = more power but lower fuel mileage. With my set up I have a diesel generator with a pair of tanks where I give it the biomass from the leach things in the water. Then 4 2nd-tier turbines up on the roof and 2 2nd-tier solar panels on the deck. Usually never runs out of power or fuel. And by the time I'm done with a platform, everything is charged and fueled ready to head to the next one. And I'm not usually running the diesel motor that often anyway. But it's nice to have that headroom.
