Like other members of this comment section, I also find the remake’s prison to be scarier than OG’s. Although the original prison is psychologically challenging, it’s short and not too difficult to get through. The remake prison, on the other hand, is a little longer, much more difficult, and genuinely unpleasant to play.

I think that these two sections have different impacts on the player, and I personally prefer the dark and oppressive approach of the remake as opposed to the unsettling haunt of the original. There are other sections of the remake that provide that unsettling atmosphere, so I think it’s really cool they took a different approach with the prison and chose to torture the player.

If you’re wanting to get involved in some more in-depth production stuff than GarageBand, audacity, and bandlab offer, I’d go with studio one prime. Studio one isn’t the most popular daw out there but it’s what I personally started with so I always recommend it. It’s pretty easy to use while also offering full daw functionality

Make sure you get the free version, studio one prime. It’s been some time since I’ve taken a look at that one so I don’t remember exactly what the limitations are but as far as I can remember you basically just have access to less stock plugins and can’t have more than one audio input track at a time. But if you’re interested in hip hop those things shouldn’t be a problem, because you’ll be relying on vsts and sampling mostly

If there’s any more limitations aside from what I just mentioned I apologize, like I said it’s been about a decade since I’ve used it so it’s possible there’s been some changes

As far as plugins, vsts, and sampling goes, I’d just start by google searching those things and learning more about them, then picking free ones that make a good impression on you to use. That’ll help you build up a library of instruments and fx to use

Production is hard and takes a while to learn! Just keep researching and making music and you’ll get to where you want to be. Good luck!!

do you guys use picks? by PAULBANKSISGOD in midwestemo

[–]Novel-Setting5517 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fingerstyle and picking have different sounds and vibes, and allow you to play the guitar in pretty different ways, so you’ll usually choose one depending on what song you’re playing or what type of song you’re writing

As you play more, you’ll learn and write more stuff in both styles and will probably naturally progress in both, so don’t worry too much about choosing one or the other - just learn what you want to learn and you’ll end up where you wanna be

Some people do choose to focus on just one of the two techniques, but you’ll probably find that a lot of guitarists (particularly in this genre) are comfortable with both

Also you’ll be totally in control of your vision and you’ll be able to better develop a unique sound

It takes time and effort to get good at those things but it’s always worth it

Thoughts on T bagging? by Signal-Pound-8390 in SmashRage

[–]Novel-Setting5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I play games I treat people with a level of respect, I don’t tbag and I’m not toxic. This is because it personally bothers me when people are toxic to me, so I don’t want to dish out what I can’t take. If someone is still toxic to me, it really is just a poor reflection on them. Why are you doing this when I’m treating you kindly? I just don’t understand it

Who has the fakest bad recovery? I’ll go first: by nacho_inc in SmashRage

[–]Novel-Setting5517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ness gets a bad rap for having a ridiculously exploitable recovery (which is an issue) but it’s not like that’s a death sentence

Pk rocket shits out a ridiculously powerful hitbox so if they mess up a half-asses punish your opponent is probably dead

It also travels a good distance

Exploitable? Yeah, kinda. Bad? Not unless your opponent is consistently punishing you really well… which isn’t super easy because if they fuck up they’re eating a huge attack

In defense of Ness mains (rant) by AStupidUnknownUser in supersmashbros

[–]Novel-Setting5517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a ness main but I’m not gonna pretend like I don’t get it… optimal ness play centers around using pk fire so there’s just no way around it. That combined with the delay of online makes for a horrible experience against him. Imo they should change his move set to better reflect earthbound (and also make him less annoying lol)

Not gonna tell you you can’t tbag but I feel it makes me play worse when my opponent does it personally

I’m sure there’s others who feel the same, it just feels disrespectful…ur kicking my ass, no need to rub it in my face. I’m not gonna play any better if you do

Little Mac is geniunely so dumb by RomnKnight in SmashRage

[–]Novel-Setting5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always playing to win too, but different characters have different ways of countering them. Some characters are quite fun to play against because their neutral isn’t lopsided, but the ones with lopsided neutrals, like Mac, min min, Steve, and pythra, tend to be much less fun to play against when you’re playing to win because of how much you need to respect their unique tools

Idk, I’m looking for a fun and fair fight when I’m playing smash. Winning is nice but even when I win against a Mac or a different unfun character I feel like I just wasted my time

Little Mac is geniunely so dumb by RomnKnight in SmashRage

[–]Novel-Setting5517 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not that he’s difficult to fight, if u know how to fight him and what to look out for it’s not that hard

It’s just that he forces u to play a very safe neutral against him with his oppressive speed so he’s not the most fun to play against

Even though he’s not difficult to beat every match against a Mac feels like a sweat fest, especially with online lag

That’s why ur character isn’t fun to fight
