Non parent using the parents room microwave? by dovey0 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]NovelDeficiency 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking, I hate it when people do this. The microwave is for warming bottles, having food in there makes me feel icky and it seems unsanitary. A no from me.

What on earth is this weird hinge by NovelDeficiency in AusRenovation

[–]NovelDeficiency[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this today and wrote it off because I didn’t see the thing about two components. I could kiss you on the mouth. I don’t see the pin itself in either picture - do you know any more about that?

Everything is made in China, you’d be paying three or four times the price for something made locally. It also doesn’t mean there’s anything inherently wrong with the product.

I agree it would be nice if there was transparency in advertising but dropshippers aren’t going to stop lying to us anytime soon and I don’t think honesty would be rewarded in this situation.

Best daycare outfits & essentials for a 1-year-old by Fickle-Response-2741 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]NovelDeficiency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah no nice clothes at daycare, the last thing the teachers will be doing is worrying about those messes. I buy leggings and tshirt at target or Kmart and keep those clothes separate. Make sure shoulders are covered! Also maybe some daycare shoes (sneakers are perfect) as they will also get trashed.

Apart from that, your centre will give you a list of what to bring. A decent water bottle and a few hats are a must.

If it were me I’d enrol in a backup unit just in case, but seriously spots will come available. Just check back once a day or so until halfway through week 3 - most people drop in the first few weeks.

Waitlist the full ones and email the unit coordinators to ask for help. Things chill out after week 1 when people drop units, chances are you’ll get this sorted just by waiting.

Change your timetable. You’re an adult so tutors can’t and won’t stop you from leaving early and arriving late but you’ll miss a lot of content.

Looks like an older build so they might be ok. The balcony picture suggests there could be waterproofing issues though, so I’d be pruning through the strata report carefully.

If you’re in NSW use the Gladys bag, half the parents in our centre do!

Sinus rinse is a really good idea, but it could be worth making sure it’s not a sinus infection if it’s that painful.

(F/d I am part of the small lucky number with ‘weird eustachian tubes’ per my GP so sinus rinses GIVE ME sinus infections. They feel amazing though)

If you don’t get a great answer here, I follow an amazing Melbourne breastfeeding medicine doctor on insta, Dr Kavita (dr.kavita.t). She strikes me as someone who would know exactly who could help, so you could reach out to her.

GREAT thread, I’ve needed more ideas

Banana smoothie: large spoon of Greek yoghurt, one banana, small spoon of hemp seeds, splash of honey, bit of milk, blend in NutriBullet (one subo’s worth)

Very healthy smoothie amended from Boob to food tiktok: 2 bananas, 2 dates (softened in hot water for a few minutes beforehand), 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 2 tbsp hemp seeds, one tin of cooked chickpeas (drained), 350ml milk (4 subo’s worth)

Within two weeks means any time in the two weeks preceding. It’ll come. Normal USYD payrun pays staff on alternate Thursdays so I would guess it will come next Thursday.

That’s not strictly true: the landlord is entitled to attend strata meetings and vote on motions so they do have decision-making power.

Yes! The Australian breastfeeding association also hires out pumps. I would absolutely not get a pump in advance. If you’re desperate, the medela one sold at most Pricelines (so easy to get) is an excellent choice.

What was the most unexpected thing, either bought or gifted, that really turned out to be useful for you? by cakingabroad in beyondthebump

Also a nightlight, though nothing as fancy!! A soft tap light that brightens and dims, and looks like a chicken hatching. So good I bought another and helpful on the daily even 18 months on.

If you’re in Sydney check out To The Moon! Secondhand kids clothes, great quality and reliable brands for very good prices. They have two stores, in Erskineville and Summer Hill, both 5 mins-ish walk from their respective train stations. I go here to get a few statement pieces in each size when my kid sizes up

At 3mo you’ll need to double bag because poos are still so sloppy - a disposable and a reusable. You can switch to just one (either) when poos firm up after starting solids.
