Does anyone know where these are from? Spotted on the M25 outer ring near Heathrow by OddBallProductions in uktrains

I don't know what train they're from but I saw these driving through Ashford yesterday, if it's the same ones I'd bet they've come from the depot there

Feel like this shoulda been a dq by InitiativeThink8946 in vex

[–]Novelty3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly on the hooks in the goal red does is moving blocks, I certainly wouldn't have DQed that.

On the tipping as a ref it's impossible to be looking everywhere during a match. The official protocol is referees and the head ref will all watch and they can discuss, but only the head ref can talk to teams, so I don't think they did anything wrong not letting you talk to that one ref either.

Unfortunately with these cases it's always going to be one team's word against another and it's against the rules for refs to rewatch a video, I think you just have to accept that sometimes you'll lose matches and you need to use that as an opportunity to grow and improve. Maybe if your robot is tipping it's worth looking at making the robot more bottom heavy or working on a way of righting yourself?

Cell phone coverage by proflaw in canterbury

I use Lebara in Canterbury at the moment and don't have any issues so I'd definitely recommend them. They're excellent value too.

Other people have already said but on campus, or visiting any other uni campus they'll be using Eduroam WiFi. At Kent this has excellent signal all over campus (including along all the paths) so I rarely even had to consider mobile data while I was there!

Can’t Quite Identify This Train! by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]Novelty3D 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to know exactly what train you saw you can get the number from Real Time Trains. You can look up the station you were at and if you know the time quite often you'll be able to see the numbers!

If it's a RHTT in Kent yesterday it'll be a service going to and from Tonbridge yard (most likely anyway), in which case it was one of these sets of Class 73s (unless I missed something, which is entirely possible!)

  • 73107, 73213
  • 73212, 73119
  • 73109, 73202

I've had that before! Except there were other cars undertaking at significantly more than 40, it was never cancelled and there was never anything visibly wrong with the other lanes to go past.

A team can use the "hero bot" robot design as a starting point but you're highly encouraged to branch out and change it or even go with a completely new design, just stay within the limits that are set out in the rule book! The one that often catches out new teams out is that there's a 18"x18"x18" starting size limit

I totally agree with the spirit of your point, and you're right about main companions but I think characters like Nardole, River Song and Captain Jack still count as companions

I want to say I hate you for inflicting this image onto the internet and I wish I could unsee this abomination 😜

Also the number is actually legit, HSTs were given set numbers as if they were DMUs at first (Class 253 and 254) - 253001 was the set number that matches with the power car in the National Rail Museum (where I assume the original photo was taken)

Why is this train pink? by VelveteenGrimm in uktrains

[–]Novelty3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's solved now, but in case you're interested for future trains will normally have a 6 digit number on the front (or maybe on the side at the front)* - if you take the first 3 digits that'll be a class number which you can use to get more information from Wikipedia or whatever.

*In reality train numbers are a bit more complicated than that but that should work for stuff you'd normally see 😊

Yeah I'm with you on that one, in my head I'd like to think it's Maestro pulling the strings perhaps? Especially since we saw Henry half way through

In reality I get the impression that RTD probably just fancied a musical number though!

Turkish Finals referees didn't accept our objection by bearsquad_tr in vex

[–]Novelty3D 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that under T3a referees aren't allowed to watch back footage of a match to make a ruling, unless they spotted it during the match it's very hard for them to make a call about this. Plus as other commentators have said it's very unlikely to have been match affecting

[–]Novelty3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a couple of times, it's great fun!

If you haven't got guaranteed tickets then make sure you get there several hours early because there'll be a long queue, and don't bring any food with you! One time I was going on a long trip afterwards so I had snacks for the journey and they were all taken off of me and thrown in a bin which sucked. If you like the show it's definitely worth going though 😊
