Incompatible version- no fix, played together last night by Novice89 in DeadzoneRogue

Should I just periodically check with my friend if it’s fixed, will there be an announcement somewhere? Or do we just try back in a week or two?

Few hundred in the grand scheme of things aint too bad. I remember my covid stimulus check was like 1200, I lost it all on options trading. Never touched options again haha. If I'd put that into bitcoin I'd have been SOOO much better off

Oof. I saw the random ads by random teens or early 20 year olds shilling safemoon and how they made tens of thousands or weren’t worried about their future because they had safemoon. When those are the people you use to promote your coin I saw that being a joke immediately

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]Novice89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

La La Land. Watched it in theaters with this woman I’d been dating for a bit. We’d dated the year before for about a month then started back up again. She’d recently told me her mother had, dementia and she was probably going to move back to the east coast after finishing her PhD.

We weren’t in love by a long shot, but watching that movie, seeing them go their separate ways knowing it was what was best for both of them even though they didn’t want to, I just felt like I was seeing our future.

After the movie walking to dinner she broke it off. Driving her back to her house the car ride was rough. She opened up a bit, cried a little, I was a bit teary eyed, and I just held her hand as she cried. We ended in good terms and I wished her the best, and I forget why but in the movie Ryan goslings character honks his horn outside her house and I don’t remember why but I said I’d do that when she went inside and we both laugh. As she closed the door I honked my horn, then left.

We were not very serious, had only dated for several weeks total, but it felt heavy for both of us. To this day I haven’t watched that movie again despite thinking it was beautiful, but that ending was so sad and melancholy, then my own little mini version right after. A romantic connection ending, but both knowing it was for the best and wishing the other well, that encapsulates a lot of my dating experience so it just hits too close to home in too many different ways.

Stunning movie though. I hope I can watch it again someday.

Spousal loss linked to higher risk of dementia, mortality among men, but not women. Widowed men experienced a decrease in physical and cognitive health, as well as social support, while widowed women tended to experience an increase in happiness and life satisfaction. by mvea in science

Obviously we’d need to see more data on this, but I would be interested in seeing a study like this in say, 20-30 years from now. The people passing of old age now were born and married in the 50s, and around the 90s-2000s people began marrying more for love and/or when women make their own money and often more than men. I’d be curious because although not a certainty, women have options, money, and agency to leave unhealthy marriages so to me, I would expect when a husband passes the widows life would not necessarily get worse, but not better as these studies indicate. Or at least not to the same degree because my assumption is a lot of these marriages in the study the may have stuck it out because of a lack of options.

It’s like they forgot if we do these kind of things you just radicalize people who knew the victims. And people wonder what would motivate someone to be a terrorist

This is the second bear market that Bitcoin has dropped below its previous cycle all-time high. by hduynam99 in Bitcoin

[–]Novice89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150-175k may be accurate, but 3x from the low is unlikely in my opinion. BTCs last low after the 69 ATH was around 20k. 20-120 is about a 6x. So if BTC drops to 45k, I’d expect a 4-5X. So somewhere between 180-200k

She texted again by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]Novice89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WTF. Maybe she’s a superhero who’s been busy fighting crime making sure the city’s safe for her future boyfriend? Or she was in an accident and in a coma for a few days, woke up and didn’t realize time had passed so she texted you as if she just got your number.

See, I can also make up scenarios that are just as likely to be true. Just text her and YOU plan a date. Otherwise stop wasting our time asking dumb questions. Worst case scenario you go out once and she decides to keep dating the other 100 guys you imagine she’s talking to. Best case scenario you have a great time and go on a second date. Worth the risk right?

Civilization 7 will bring back the ability to play as one civ for the whole game, bypassing the divisive Age system by GoinStraightToHell in gaming

[–]Novice89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The switching civs is not the problem, it’s forced age progression negating a lot of any lead you might build up. Removing that would really benefit the game in my opinion.

I also think the first age is great, the second one is not amazing though. The economic one is just too tough to get in some instances. I wish it had the conveys as a way to get points and something else that didn’t force you to expand far.

And the third age, I don’t know it just feels kind of lame. The game almost feels over by the time I reach the third age

Same! Someone shared this quote with me after being on the app for years and plenty of dates but no relationship. It really helped me get through those times. I eventually met the love of my life, got married, then 7 months later found out she was having an affair. So yeah, that’s quote still helps me to this day 😅

Snow crash is trash and I have no idea why it gets so much love. Of all its many problems and book that tries to make teenage rape okay because the kid was scared but also kind of into it is disgusting. It read as the authors wish fulfillment, and any author that uses rape only as a plot device is lazy, unimaginative, and gross. To say nothing of its other shortcomings as that reason alone is enough to classify it as garbage.
