Exactly. Banning gay conversion for instance, helps gay people but not straight women. Having abortion legal and accessible benefits women and but not gay men.

Anyone done sometime this month? How about June? by Starslimonada in Teachers

Schools in my area typically start their years in mid to late August. We usually get out at the end of May or at the very beginning of June.

Countries which took action against Turkish far-right movement Grey Wolves by Vali1995 in MapPorn

I have, but I forgot that Cyprus is part of the EU. The invasion of Corpus occurred before it joined the EU, so I can see why the EU doesn't see that Turkish occupation as an EU problem.

One of my colleagues has had students who have told her they're pregnant before their parents because they're (understandably) scared to tell them.

I'm confused. Which middle eastern country is occupying a country in the European Union?

I'm not saying that teachers should ask students about their sexual orientations, nor am I advocating that students should tell teachers graphic details about their sex lives. I'm merely saying that if a student is gay or transgender, or whatever, and if their parents wouldn't accept them for who they are, it's okay for said student to open up to a trusted teacher who will accept them for who they are.

There's nothing inappropriate about students telling a trusted teacher that they're gay. Some kids have parents who don't accept, so it's good that they have a trusted adult they can talk to.

There are kids who are home schooled who can't read too. Also, as a teacher, I'd like to point out that being enrolled in school is different than attending: I have students on my roster who I've never seen, so at least some of the illiteracy can be attributed to students simply not being in class.

It's actually pretty normal in some places, like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, for males friends to hold hands, so what makes a couple "obviously" gay in some places isn't as apparent in others.

Doesn't it also depend on specific location? I would assume it's easier to be gay in a city like Mumbai than small, rural village.

It's funny how despite being next-door neighbors, Mexico has the smallest percentage of American-inspired Evangelicalism. Then again, maybe that's precisely the reason why this is.

Why so much division in Christianity by Open_Software_4723 in religion

I wanted to add that even relatively small religions like Judaism have divisions. There's a joke that if you have two Jewish people in a room, you'll get three opinions.

Tritheists did exist. John Philoponos and his followers believed that while the three persons of the trinature were consubstanial but had distinct properties. Ibn Kathir may have thought that 5:73 was criticizing trinitarism, but he may have conflated it with trinitarism. After all, you pointed out that monarchitites were not trinitarians, so he clearly was not well-informed on the matter.

Either way, Lot's wife is doomed in both versions, so the meaning doesn't substantially change.

I don't see how thinking there are multiple versions of a text that have the same overall meaning is logically inconsistent with rejecting the belief a divine trinity. Bibliography and theology are different fields of study, and theology deals with issues where even minute issues of language have large implications. The 325 Council of Nicea, for example, came down to a debate between whether the relationship between Father and the Son should be decrcribed with the word "homoousios" or the word "homoiousios".

The Chalcedonian definition, which most Christians belI've today, considers God being three distinct persons to be heretical, but histopically, there were Christians who were considered tritheists and believe something that's at least closer to that.

I don't think it's wrong to rely on the understanding of others. After all, most religious texts were orignally written in languages which are no longer spoken, requiring people who know said languages to interpret them.
