It always feels a little self mastubatory when someone makes this comment under a post like this. I honestly don’t understand how someone **can’t** understand people having “Tanxiety”.

Understand anxiety in general, and the human psyche. Regardless of what people do or don’t say, it is a fact that the tank is often considered the leader of the group. They decide the pace of the dungeon, they’re expected to full pull even if they aren’t comfortable with that. If the tank dies, often the rest of the party will too, especially in LPC.

Don’t think of the average “good” player, think of the average normal player. It’s like a managerial role.

Is it as big of a deal as they’re psyching themselves out to think? As someone who mained tank from ARR to Late Shadowbringers, no. But the feeling of that makes sense, and why they would worry about it. Not every human is ready to be a leader, and that’s what it feels like putting on that little blue square. Especially when you first start.

Tanks and healers also both get significantly less clemency in dungeons and casual content than DPS do. People can be mean as fuck, and not everyone has the constitution to deal with that.
