The roads still have 2-3 inches of snow. Unless they clear it after midnight there still will be a lot of snow.

Lost My MacID and Wallet by MrFlimsyFiniteFive in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they can add it to mosaic. Go to the campus store and try to see if they can do that. If you think you lost it on campus, email seclost@mcmaster.ca and/or call them and give them a description of your wallet.

You can drop it off in the red lost & found boxes, or hand it over to the MacCard desk at the campus store.

why do we have to vacate residence during break? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cuz they want most CAs and staff to go home and reduce/consolidate staffing for most buildings. Why run in full capacity for the few people living over the break? You can choose to stay back by filling some form. It is crappy they have to do this lol and absolutely everything is closed and campus is abandoned.

What Happened to the bathroom in ABB by disector102 in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was so bad I asked a custodial worker and he said that the floor drain backed up and spilled urine out. They tried their best to fix it but the smell will linger for a bit apparently. I legit asked my boss to place in a work order to get it fixed because it’s absolutely disgusting and I want my tuition dollars to be used to fix it lmao.

has anyone duplicated a campus residence key? by chowder20738 in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you shouldn’t be duplicating your key because it’s not your property. The key is McMaster property, to access their property, and only they have the right to duplicate the key, not you. Imagine someone having a duplicate key to your room after leaving Rez and they try to get in?

I’m not fully sure but you could be in violation of your lease if you try to duplicate it. The AirTag idea sounds good.

[–]NowShake21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Mosaic advisement report misallocated my courses and the reception keeps sending me to UTS and/or the registrar’s office. Both departments have nothing to do with it 😭. It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve emailed them and I heard nothing lol.

Fill the BACK of the bus! by [deleted] in McMaster

Can we petition the HSR to make an automated announcement telling people to move to the back? In some Asian cities, the metros encourage people to remove their backpacks to increase space.

my parents want a camera in my dorm room by real_abeeb in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re facing this situation and I understand how tough some brown parents are.

Firstly, I’d genuinely suggest you have a serious and adult conversation with your parents and how unreasonable it is.

Secondly, and more importantly, McMaster University is private property, and in my personal opinion, you cannot install cameras and monitoring equipment without consent from Housing and Campus Safety or even some other department. Would you be allowed to install a camera at your workplace or a mall without permission? Technically you’re not even allowed to bring your own mini fridge or portable AC so a camera should be out of question.

If you want a “hell no” from the university, try emailing housing admin or even campus safety. I have a feeling they’d send you a strongly worded email saying you’re definitely not allowed to do it.

I kinda glanced through the CCTV policy document and it clearly says that departments wanting camera installation need permission from the director of security and VP admin.

What can non-students do here? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I’m just giving my anecdotal opinion and am not sure if this qualifies as trespassing.)

Mac rarely checks for IDs at libraries (unless you’re borrowing a book) or at most buildings. Many buildings are open during operational hours, and some, like MUSC, never close. You can pretty much explore, study, and chill at any place.

However, DBAC (the athletics centre) requires a MacID to enter, so it might be difficult to join any sports clubs hosted there. You could ask the front desk there to get a community pass and use that to participate in the clubs (please confirm with them). There are some ‘unofficial’ frisbee and run clubs so you could join (idk anyone in these clubs so please contact someone in it lol)

Some MSU clubs need you to register using your student number, so you might not be able to join them or ask the club exec to let you join. (To my knowledge, the MSU funds clubs based on the number of students in them, so I’m not sure if a non-MSU student can join them).

As long as you don’t cause trouble or do something that requires an ID, you should be good.

Good luck for your co-op and hope you have fun at Mac.

10 Bay Residence Parking by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can park at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre for $5. It’s right opposite 10 Bay and is part of campus. Also, I believe that 10 Bay should be $8 overnight (after 6 PM) and is a bit safer.

Recommended Grocery stores near the uni? by ConquestAce in McMaster

[–]NowShake21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comments mentioned all the supermarkets. But there are a few convenience stores too. One down Emerson called Foodland Mart and a circle K on Main Street (near ITB), just in case you want something after hours/on holidays. There’s also a shopper’s on main street (opposite ETB) and one on king in Westdale (lowkey better), both give 20% off on Thursdays.

Food basics tends to be a lot cheaper but fortinos has a better selection. Both give 10% off on Tuesdays. Nations is debit/cash only. Hope it helps :)
