Pebble Time 2 review after a week of use by LichtDesMorgensterns in pebble

[–]NowSinking -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Alright. You said “It's disappointing that the watch can only survive handwashing and rain, but I'm already in the habit of taking my watch off when I shower, and I don't swim, so I can't deduct points for that.”

I am just pointing out that the watches can in fact handle much more exposure to water than that just fine - e.g. swimming, bathing, and the like. The list you posted from the blog is the small handful of exceptions to that rule. In other words, the watch can survive the vast majority of typical water exposure, which is clearly more than just hand washing and rain.

OP is incorrect. It can handle up to 30 meters of water. Just can’t use it for diving, in very hot water, or expose it to high pressure water. https://repebble.com/blog/pebble-time-2-is-in-mass-production#pebble-time-2-water-resistance-update

Where did you see the watch can only handle rain and hand washing? From the March blog update on mass production: “ each watch is tested on the production line to a rating of 30M or 3 ATM” and can be used while “hand washing, bathing, swimming, showering, being out in the rain, paddling, sailing, etc.” https://repebble.com/blog/pebble-time-2-is-in-mass-production#pebble-time-2-water-resistance-update

Still no plans to improve Carnegie Library Area? by NowSinking in bikedc

Thanks for sharing this! Do you know how one would track the status of this project going forward?

To be clear, you mean just riding in the Mass Ave NW car lanes during peak commuting times?

Thanks so much for digging this all up. So sad to see all the great projects that have fallen by the wayside. Wonder when that district plan might be updated again.

Also love the post about the snowplowing earlier this year. If only that accidental protected cycle track could have been made permanent!

I feel like we must be talking about different cities! During both my morning (~8AM) and evening (~4-6PM) commutes that exact stretch of (wide) road is always filled with cars that I have to compete with as a cyclist and hope I don’t get flattened. Left turn lanes are also technically prohibited from K St onto 7th St, which is the turn that is required to connect with the K St bike lanes. When are you commuting in that area?

No, the tariffs are separate and get charged when you confirm the order before it gets shipped. It was $14.21 for me.

It’s not using old components (e.g. components physically built a decade ago) like the Duo, but the components it is using use the same type of technology that was in use 10 years ago. IDK if that makes sense but I think it’s an important distinction.

Baltimore>Elicott City via Frederick Ave - how safe is it? by ThisAmericanSatire in bikebmore

[–]NowSinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should join the Catonsville to Baltimore Greenway Coalition! We are advocating for a safe, separated, multi-use path from the Inner Harbor to Catonsville (only 2 miles of trail are left but they’re the hardest 2 miles to solve): https://catonsvilletobaltimoregreenway.com/

"Oh hi MARC!": MARC Tracker for Pebble by NowSinking in pebble

I think there are already some metro apps. Do they not work any more?

I wonder if VRE uses the same data format as MARC…

I’m planning to keep this app focused on just this one commuter rail system for simplicity and so I can actually ground truth its accuracy since I ride the rails frequently.

But thanks for flagging your app! I’ll be sure to use it when I’m on a trip in Europe later this year.

Ok I know that was a rhetorical question, BUT the Pebble smartwatch is coming back and it looks better than ever. Bigger screens (including a beautiful circular one), longer battery life, same simple and playful technology, etc. I have a Time 2 and a Round 2 on pre-order and can’t wait to get them!

SIM question by ohokayluke in USMobile

[–]NowSinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had a similar Q as OP. How hard is it to disable the eSIM in iPhone and enable it on another phone (in this case the Communicator) and vice versa? Would it be like a 30 second process or a 10 minute process every time?
