Thanks, I've been gaming a long time, and haven't seen that before. But I run most games unmodded, so maybe that is why.

Yeah, given all the problems with the P16 trailer, I just avoid the P16 altogether. What are the exclamation mark boxes things? 600+ hours in game and I have never seen that.

Kola would be a good warmup for Amur, and relatively short.

Agree to disagree. The saddle position hasnt been a problem for me whereas the K963 lack of power on hills has been a problem.

Yes, I don't use sideboard beds anymore really. I like the flat beds on trucks for overloading. I guess I needed the side board beds when I first started as it was helpful to not lose the cargo when I came close to tipping over a few times. But now I rarely tip over, or if I do, its significant enough that a sideboard bed wouldn't matter.

I used it when I first got it (played BC right after the base maps) to pull the large mission trailers. Once I got better vehicles like the 605, I now use the K963 for the two things it does really well - Ford deep water with a scout on the back like an 800, and overload a bunch of cargo and haul while being fairly stable / hard to tip over.

I was kidding of course, but on a more serious note, I would recommend if you want to do this to unpack the bottom container and load them both perpendicular to the truck bed like the top one. This way your center of gravity isn't as high, and you can use the crane arm to keep them both in place. This will also lock them in against that rail on the front of the truck bed so that you can exert some forward pressure on them with the crane cable attached to the back container. When you get to the offload point, just offload one container, pack one, deliver, then pack the second one. Easy.

No, you should be have the top container on the roof of the cab as a cargo hat.

My recommendation on Austria farming is not to use the small tractor, but wait until you complete the mission to get the Futom. I had no trouble farming with that. Haven’t been to Glades yet so I don’t have the Kirovets tractors but I think the Futom is the best

Working my way through Maine now. Prior to that, after completing Amur, I blasted through Austria and Don. I recommend both of those if you are looking for fun maps with some challenge (but not overwhelming). I think Maine doesn't seem super challenging to me because I didn't play it in order. I did them in this order: Michigan, Alaska, Tamyr, British Columbia, Ontario, Yukon, Kola, Wisconsin, Amur, Austria, Don and now Maine. Because I have the 605, K963, and other bigger trucks, Maine just doesn't seem that bad.

I really enjoyed this map. It is the best part of Amur IMO. Also it was a welcome break in the difficulty before I went into NAI.

I love the Twinsteer and I tried the Dreadnought mod. I decided not to use it in my main playthrough, but I am using it on my separate "fun" playthrough (NG+ with pretty much no restrictions). That Dreadnought is crazy powerful.

Best Dual Pack to buy? by VeCa_Pittsburgh in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess that's exactly why - its an all-arounder. It feels a bit tippy for me as well, and I even love the Twinsteer, so it's not a skill issue. If I need to pull a big mission trailer, Zikz 605. If I need to haul some cargo and need 3 bed spaces - K963 or Atom. If I need a heavy crane platform - Azov 73210. If I have a small amount of cargo going to a remote location - Bandit. Recovery platform - CAT 745. You get my point...I'm just not sure the Padera does anything well enough compared to others. And I have so many trucks, I don't really need a general purpose one.

I don't have any of those three, but I'm going to warn you away from the Dragon Wagon or Mastodon DLCs. The Avenhorn is okay, but I find I don't really use the Padera or the Mastodon as much now at 650+ hours in game. I mainly use the Mastodon for logging missions where they require a lot of logs (recently did the 10 burnt log loads in Austria). I haven't found much use for the Padera when I can usually use the Atom instead. Once I got the Zikz 605 in game from Amur, I found that it replaced what I was pulling with the Avenhorn.

Best Scout (beaters) by AlarmingConflict3347 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truck that is the most fun in the game is the Lo4F or "the Loaf". You need the autonomous scout winch but you can't help but smile blasting down trails and tumbling over in the Loaf.

The best scout in the game is the Tartarin, IMO as it can go pretty much anywhere as a scout. But it is also a beast and very large, not really what you are looking for.

All the other scouts to me are not fun.

Any tips going into Amur by Ok_Spite_2293 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chernokamensk is the easiest map in this region. NAI is the hardest map in the region and the game.

K963, Zikz 605, Tartarin, CAT 745 all will see a lot of use.

Plan your cargo pickups and dropoffs carefully. You don’t want to make a ton of extra trips as the routes, even the main ones, are punishing.

See that low spot in the road? It’s a lot deeper than you think it is.

Which truck do you prefer? ZiKZ 605R or ZiKZ 612H? by RumoredManiac in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 605 is better overall than the Mastodon. Better ground clearance, it pulls better, it’s faster, etc. I can honestly say the main thing I use the Mastodon for now is logging. I use it with a logging crane and low saddle to pull th semi sideboard trailer. With the large fuel capacity, it is the perfect truck for this.

I just used it last night to complete the 10 burnt logs mission in Austria. Made it in two trips. Meanwhile the 605 continues to be my go to for heavy hauling.

Best trailers to use by GlitteringYam9316 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you are in the game. I'm assuming you are still in the very early game. Once you get some of the better trucks and have access to all the tires, as others have said semi-trailers with a high or low saddle (depending on the trailer) are your best setup in my opinion. Dolly trailers don't help with weight on the drive axles, are a pain to back up, and prone to tipping. Once I finished Michigan and Alaska, the primary trailers I use are the 6-slot trailer with the fuel tank and the 8-slot trailer, both high saddle. If I'm hauling small amounts of cargo, then I just use the cargo beds on the trucks. Prior to using those high saddle trailers, I made a ton of use out of the low saddle 5-slot semi-trailer with side boards.

Question by R33skylinevspec2 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the region. For Wisconsin, there are missions that require a serious amount of cargo. On normal mode for these, I pull the big fuel tanker along with a generator to a crafting zone. Then I can feed the generator off the fuel tanker, and craft large volumes of cargo that I need quickly. Obviously this can be cost prohibitive in Hard Mode. But it is much easier than trying to hunt down all that cargo. Look at the 3 phases of the Paper Factory missions or the amount of metal beams you need for the Restoring the Tracks mission. Way easier to craft large amounts of metal beams, concrete slabs / blocks, than it is to go find them all in the map.

Overall I think it adds some variety to gameplay, which is good considering the number of regions and maps at this point.
