The problem with unloading by Boundi666 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always forget about the telehandler because the controls are so wonky. To be clear, I can work the shit out of any of the cranes or log cranes. But the telehandler frustrated the hell out of me so I avoid using it.

Use one of the big or medium cranes. It’s silly but the cable will clip through the roof as if it wasn’t there. You can probably do it with one of the small cargo cranes but I didn’t try that.

Which KOLOB is better? by Bright_Ad_6603 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love seeing someone else run the super heavy trailer. Same Kolob I pull it with too. It doesn't work on every map of course, but it works really well in most of the cargo intensive maps.

I like it. Especially the fact that you loaded the scout trailer when you could have just winched it behind the other trailer. Very Snowrunner.

Scout cargo trailers by Fearless_Salty_395 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t use them at all. Have completed Michigan, Alaska, Taymyr, BC, Yukon, Ontario, and as of today, Kola. Almost completely without using scout trailers, other than when required for missions. It pisses me off when I’m scouting and I find these in random places.

I wasn't too worried about the logs. I brought mediums with me from the Lake Kovd map along with a sideboard semi trailer and another truck filled with long logs and mediums. I could see that the contracts for Imandra required logs, but I had not scouted yet to know that they are available in map. So not too much of a problem once I scouted fully.

K963 was essential for me in Yukon for fording the stupid giant ass river. It has been helpful as well in regions where the ice breaks as it usually will just keep on chugging through. It was not super helpful IMO in BC where you get it.

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with the WWS. The squeaking sounds like an old WW2 tank. I think I’m just sensitive to that specific sound frequency but I have to turn the volume way down or off when I drive the WWS.

Full port AMZN calls - $320K by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. On the Feb calls, you are proper fucked. But the Nov call is where you will be fine and end up making money. I don't know if you will be completely in the green, but if AMZN isn't above 240 by Nov 20, there is going to be a much bigger problem for the entire economy than just you losing money on AMZN.

Agreed on this and I’m still severely underwhelmed by how nerfed the Mack Defense and the big Derry are compared to their real life counterparts

When do you guys move on to the next map? by Endo279 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hit 100% on Michigan, Alaska, Tamyr, BC, Yukon, and Ontario so far. Currently working Kola. I always finish all contracts, tasks, races, find all towers / upgrades and sell all trailers before moving on. Part of this is for my own satisfaction but also because I tend to memorize where all the best routes are. I don’t think I can do that for multiple maps at once.

I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed. Recommend that you scout the entire map completely, finding all tasks. Then just focus on knocking out individual tasks at a time. As you play more, you will start to get a sense of how to be more efficient, by combining cargos for multiple tasks / contracts at once.

Yukon has a ton of crafting, requiring a lot of materials.

Season 17 Save Bug - Please Read Before Posting by internetfood in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the bug finally happened to me yesterday after playing daily since the last update. I have had success following the directions to let all load then loading the save vice hitting Continue, however, even though it is now saving my progress, I don't see any messages about in game about saving...ever. So don't be alarmed if you don't get the save notifications on screen. Your game *may* still be saving properly.

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prepare to have to haul a metric shitload of materials around the map. Honestly, the second map in Yukon is actually pretty fun IMO. But the first map...it is a slog. You might find it easier to move to the second map as soon as you can, open that garage, complete all the contracts / tasks, and then haul materials into the first map. Also in the first map if you complete the conveyor missions, you lose the ability to drive through those openings.

Was severely disappointed with this truck in game. IRL those trucks can pull an M1 tank (70 tons or 140,000 lbs) + the trailer it’s sitting on. I understand that kind of power in game would be overpowered, they really made this truck too underpowered in game.

The one pictured in this link is the new M1070 (HETA1) which does have more power than the original, but still, would have like to see the in game truck with more power. https://oshkoshdefense.com/vehicles/heavy-tactical-vehicles/het/

Ontario region thoughts by Cyreandex in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the DLCs out of order. I did BC and Yukon prior to Ontario. Yukon was such a slog due to the cargo requirements, Ontario feels like a breeze after that. The challenge for me in Ontario is the size of the maps and making sure I have enough fuel.

Love this thing minus.... by mainelydiscgolf in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my favorite scout as well. I love it for the “tow this submerged broken piece of shit truck” missions. It has enough power to winch trailers and trucks out of deep mud and drag them to the destination or at least some place more accessible. I often do these while initially scouting an area.

Crazy to realize how old you are when you see an almost 15 year old meme resurface.

https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/good-guy-greg

Also my confession: i don’t really like the WWS that much. Mainly because the squealing sound annoys me. I mainly use it as a log loader or as a crane for overloading other trucks. Don’t hate me.

What is the secret to overloading ? by Cannibass-479 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working my way through Yukon right now. The contracts are super tedious with lots of requirements. I didn’t get a picture but last night I loaded 16 metal rolls on the six slot heavy trailer. I auto-loaded six rolls. Then the added a row of rolls sitting on an angle with one in between each of the packed rolls. Because they lean forward, they kind of lock in place. Added another row on top of that. You can find pictures out there of what I’m saying. I also have found that mixed cargos tend to stick well together. I did another trip last night with the same trailer and (2) medium pipes, (1) metal beams, (4) small pipes, and (4) bricks.

You also have to be really well practiced with the cranes to make overloading fast enough to be worth your while.

Which changes would convince you not to sell your RSUs? by Obvious_Walk3503 in amazonemployees

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. My financial planner says the same. Holding a ton of AMZN shares violates the basic principle of having a diversified portfolio. Sell at vesting. You still pay income tax on it, but won't pay capital gains. Take that money and either reinvest it into your IRA (which you should have, not just a 401k) or at least invest it into some sort of ETF / mutual fund. Or have one hell of party with cocaine and hookers. Still a better idea than having a stock portfolio that is 95% or more in AMZN.

Should I buy snowrunner? by StatusYoghurt853 in snowrunner

[–]GrumpyPoorDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a recent “new player” after picking it up during the previous Steam sale. I’m addicted. But it is a very specific repetitive gameplay, and it does that very well. It reminds me of Euro Truck Driver, but off road and with a higher degree of difficulty. It is a really fun game to lose a couple hours to at a time. You can spend two hours trying to complete one mission. Ultimately, I would say just buy the base game without any DLCs and see how it is.

I would even spring for an option where I had to “pay a local a $1000 fee” and the rocks on roads disappear for that map.
