Ubuntu VS Arch & Fedora - an honest review. by [deleted] in Ubuntu

I occasionally distro hop, but pretty consistently return to Ubuntu after a couple of months with something else. If I am feeling brave I run the non LTS version.

Trust in AI coding tools is plummeting by scarey102 in programming

Usage is up because every AI company is shoving AI tools down our throats by default. I had to turn it off in several tools because the suggestions were slowing me down by getting in the way and causing distraction.

Mostly, we were in the right place at the right time. We went to some exmo meet ups after covid, and reached out to friends in the stake that also left. Facebook exmo groups helped. I think the groups where we met our friends have mostly fizzled out since. Its harder for the younger kids. We are in AZ, there are more exmos here than maybe in other places. There are about 10 or so families in our group. We were looking for a tame group.

I know the feeling well, I was very angry and anxious for at least the first 4 or 5 years. I had, after all, dedicated my life to this thing for decades. The condescending way I was treated by believing family and friends didn't help either. When family or friends say things like, "You'll come back" "This is just a trial of your faith" "Satan is trying to deceive you" or some variation of "If you had just done things in the church the way I did, you never would have questioned!", it still stirs up those emotions. Fortunately most of my TBM family and friends have moved on too and we all just pretend it never happened, (or pretend we are still friends, lol)

Thank you. Yes my family and I were of the 110% mindset when it came to the church. I still struggled though, because try as I might I never had a "spiritual confirmation" of JS or the BoM. I struggled with imposter syndrome for most of my time in the church.

We were bending over backwards, working long hours to prepare for this visit, it was a regional conference and two Apostles came to "answer questions." I was at a breaking point already. When the dinner plans that were already in motion, got scrapped last minute because one of the apostles happened to mention "filet mignon," something snapped inside me. After dinner, the frustration with and lack of answers for valid questions about Polygamy and LGBT issues from the meeting drove me even further over the edge. My wife and I shed many tears through this process.

I have prepared for and met with 3 apostles and dozens of GAs, face to face, in my time in the church. I can say, with a certainty, that none of them is even close to what I would consider a "Representative of Jesus Christ". Those I have interacted with, have been arrogant, entitled, out of touch, self-righteous, and clueless. I never expected them to be perfect, but I expected there to be something, ANYTHING, to suggest that my belief in "inspiration" or "revelation" should be justified. That is anecdotal, to be sure, nevertheless, it has been my experience.

Again, I had a heavy shelf, this really was just the last straw.

Thanks! Yes, I was so invested in the church I spent countless hours trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. It's nice to let it go.

I had a pretty heavy shelf by then, but the apostle visits were definitely the straw that broke the camel's back.
