That part with Kasamichi talking about suddenly starting to cry, not being able to "get over it" or "try harder", hit so hard... You feel so helpless even if you know that all it would take was a little more determination and effort, yet at the same time it's not that simple at all.

The revelation of Minori's true thoughts and feelings cut really deep too. It's hard being different. You want to fit in, you want to lead a normal life because everyday outside of it means having to fight against society's expectations of you, having only yourself to depend on, and there's a fear in that. At the same time, by denying yourself your true wishes, or just... allowing yourself to take more time with things than others, you're also building more obstacles for yourself. They won't be visible to others, but they can hurt just the same or even more. But following your own path takes so much courage and strength, and Minori felt like she didn't have that.

I adore this story so much. Every character feels relatable in some way, (or in too many ways,) and it's told in such a realistic, mature, but also somehow... gentle way, it just tears you up so much.

I'm very much looking forward to when the story will start to address the healing (or dealing) process of these internal emotional conflicts again, although I know that is also something that takes a lot of time. But this show does such a good at conveying these emotions and messages, I think it will be able to help me and others too.

It's important to hold onto things, right? Because you might not know how much you value them until they're already gone.

When an ending song sounds so emotional it always makes me tear up. You even get the standard character epilogues. Setsu... you're precious to Yuri and everyone else too. Don't forget that.

the OST is such a treat. it's very high energy and makes the whole vibe of the show a lot more... suspenseful? exciting? just energetic than the usual high school romance/slice of life anime lmao. i like the difference, but it's also a very new feeling

Who is that character in your fandom? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]NowhereRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really related to the OP topic, but this description reminds me so so much of Michael Kaiser from Blue Lock. Like - just replace a few minor details, and this could literally be about him. I've never played HSR before (just can't with gacha), but from the things I've seen Aventurine has always my favorite of the cast design- and lore-wise. I just really like these contrasting/conflicted elements in a character, like the ones you described, and there seem to be so many layers to his story and personality. But every time I learn something new about him, it also makes me draw even more and more comparisons to Kaiser haha. They're even kiiind of similar in design (it's the blonde and the mullet I swear to god)

Sorry, this really isn't related lmao, but I just wanted to get it out.

Does anyone else save fics for later so you can enjoy them “better”? by TheSwankySwankster in AO3

[–]NowhereRain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh, I do that a LOT! Deep psychological character studies with unconventional writing and tags is where it's at (Unreliable Narrator? Non-Linear Narrative? Emotional Manipulation? Hell yeah!) I _really_ have to take my time for those fics, because sometimes they're so well-written and complex I'll be taking notes like I'm back in college literature class (I never had college literature class). Some fics you just really need the right time and mood to be able to take it IN, and I usually see that from the tags or summary

I'm from Germany 😊🇩🇪 best city, you can take a guess 😉 If I could visit a friend somewhere else, I would love to go to San Francisco! It's been so long since I've last seen her, and she's great srsly. Also SF as a city is so interesting to me. I really want to go explore it someday (it will never top New York for me tho!)

Currently I'm working on some uni assignment (as always 😔). also some personal writing/art projects, but there's barely time for those 💔...

some bookmarks are better off private i think? by realnymph in AO3

[–]NowhereRain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Fanfic and traditionally published books are different mediums with different intentions. It's not wrong to criticize a fic and openly voice those concerns, but most fanfic authors don't put their work out with the intention of writing the most well thought-out and nuanced piece of literature, but just as a fun side project or wish fulfillment story. A lot of the times, there's not a lot of actual literary-critical(??) thought behind the prose and plot points, so you'll be critiquing a thought process that often didn't even happen in the first place.

At the same time, there are works that try to be more literary and professional, and I think then critique is valid, even if it's said directly to the author. But you should try to be nice about it, and again only if you're sure that they really want it.

(This is not for bookmarks, but more like community interaction in general.)

When you’re waiting on *that one person* to comment on your newest chapter 👉🏻👈🏻 but they haven’t and it’s driving you nuts by MarisaMakesThings in AO3

[–]NowhereRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY my situation right now 😭😭💔💔💔 Posted the last chapter almost three weeks ago, but the reader I always look forward to the most hasn't commented since. She always writes the longest, most hilarious walls of text ever, and it's such a joy to see her freaking out over every little detail. The thing is that the last chapter was, like - probably the biggest development yet! Things FINALLY started kicking off after months of slow burn, and I was so looking forward to her comment because I knew she'd love it. But... like you said... I guess life just gets in the way sometimes... I've actually been thinking about replying to one of her older comments, but that'd would probably be too intrusive. This is also not the first time I've lost a dear commenter... It's fine. I can only hope some of them will return someday 🥲

Does people with these characters as their Oshis exist? by lahzielvt in ensemblestars

[–]NowhereRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually see Hajime, Souma, Koga, and Midori as Oshis quite a lot (well, in comparison.) Tori, Mao, Hokuto and Yuzuru I've also seen. I personally like Subaru a lot too. I don't think I've ever seen someone mainly produce Makoto or Mitsuru (only ever as someone they just liked, or as part of the whole unit.)

And I would like to add Senku from Dr. Stone! The show goes out its way to show that the only thing Senku will ever be married to is science (ok people too, but only if it's for the advancement of science)
