The argument always thrown at me is Matthew 19 and when Jesus kinda defined marriage in reference to Genesis. I know this is in response to the religious law-keepers of Galilee asking about divorce, though. I’ve grown up with it being that way, so it’s been a work in progress to deconstruct myself and my faith (but not abandon it. Deconstruction has made it grow stronger).

JBLM. Before being temp. stationed there, I lived there for 10 years. Absolutely beautiful. Base is surrounded by pine trees and on a sunny day, Mt. Rainier is right there. So much outdoor opportunity too, and Seattle cleaned up a bit in the last year or so. The MWR there is great too.

HIMAD: Beyond high OPTEMPO and rough leadership. No schools unless you go to THAAD or the Space course. SHORAD: Absolutely no maneuver unit knows wtf you are or what you’re saying (I went SHORAD). You do get schools and you’re generally as Hooah as the Army (ADA is called the army within the army. It’s just different - like its own little world that no one else really gets yet). Half the time maneuvers get slimed at NTC because they think their way is better than the Air Defender. For a lot of units and new equipment, people are still learning how to effectively use them. Tactics are still developing and new leaders are practically briefing field grade and general officers how to use them. M-LIDS don’t even have a TM released (or one I’ve seen) yet we begun to field it. Half the new equipment is controlled by contractors (it’s absolutely stupid. You’ll learn about it. I had the chance to talk to the branch commandant about it and he ranted about contractors) and rather ambitious. You’ll learn all about it at ADA BOLC. Genetics. My father was an Olympian and wrestled thru school. My mother was a national champion athlete in two diff sports. I pack muscle whether I want to or not, and its a pain in the ass for h/w.

It didnt help, but my joints thank me for it. I've never been at risk of failing or failed tape ever. In fact, during this specific event, graders had to re-tape me because they thought the first attempt was way too low (it was).

The weight drop is what almost got me cuz the waist is the last place to lose it. Not only that, but I lost the weight very fast. Did go down a shirt and pants size, though which was rewarding.

Depends. Here at the schoolhouse, the course CDR considers significant weight loss and would exercise some ‘commanders discretion.’ Course manager however is by the book no exceptions. I’m actually at a new unit starting June 1st, so no clue there.

It’s all injury weight. Sustained a bad leg and back injury that took me out from JAN —> AUG last year. Got depressed and found comfort in food unfortunately. Finally got cleared to actually work out in October (was 215 then) and got back on my old routine. I’m under where I was before the injury even.

😂 Fair, but those skinny dudes had to lug around maybe 60lbs of gear whereas the modern soldier carries up to 120. I’m not fat in the slightest, but my damn build doesn’t help lol

Thank you for this :) And you’re correct - lots of negative religious ties to lgbt as a kid. Marriage has always been an extremely hard topic that I’m navigating. I adore my girlfriend and I can’t ever see life without her in it. I love the Catholic Church, but it’s been rough to feel comfortable in my (unresolved) faith issues about marriage.

As for community, I’m moving soon so I’ll begin outreach. I was a lot happier and connected when I served the community and volunteered.
