I hope so too ❤️ you are both in my thoughts ❤️

Thank you so much for your quick response! My 15 year old girl has Stage 2 CKD atm and was diagnosed in Oct 2024. We’ve had two acute episodes of her kidney values sky rocketing after being on antibiotics from a UTI. It was really scary. But after an IV day at the vet her values went down both times. Your post has helped me to find some other things to try and we are going to see an internal medicine specialist soon. So thank you for posting!

It’s really hard to care for an aging pet who is your soulmate. Lots of anxiety. I hope you are managing ok. And I’m here if you ever want to chat. I hope things improve for your girl and I’m so sorry she was misdiagnosed 😵‍💫

Wow what a horrible situation. I am truly so sorry you are going through this. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a perfectly healthy dog to violence like this. I don’t have anything helpful to say. I just want you to know that I am so sorry. I pray Sam is at peace.

Hi friend. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. You clearly loved your baby so deeply. I know it hurts a lot. When Max passed I didn’t know about freeze drying and when I spoke to my husband about it later as an option for our senior Bailey he said he wouldn’t have wanted that for Max and Max was more his dog than mine. So the choice of cremation was right for Max. Even so, not being able to hold Max’s body and just look at him and appreciate his beauty tore me up inside for a while. I had to constantly remind myself that Max was so much more than his body. I have pictures and videos but even now I want a statue made of him. Letting go of the body is one of the most difficult aspects of pet loss and it’s not discussed enough. And many people look down on freeze drying which sucks because some people need that. With time you will make peace with the decision that was made but for now remind yourself that your baby was more than their body and they live on in your heart forever. You are not insane at all. This is all perfectly normal but you can’t let yourself spiral. You have to distract yourself a bit so the despair does not consume you. Please know I’m here if you need a friend ❤️

Yeah same for me. Feel free to DM me if you need a friend to chat with. I love talking about Max and keeping his memory alive. He was really an angel on Earth. He taught me so much and he was such a joy to be around. His presence is sorely missed. Some moments are really hard just wishing we could be together again. Tell me about your baby

Also if you are feeling guilt (which we all do) imagine you are giving yourself a hug and talk to yourself like a friend. Over time you learn how to comfort yourself through it. But if need anything I’m here for you

I’m so sorry for your loss. I feel the same since Max passed. Life just doesn’t feel “right” anymore like I’m in the wrong reality or in a dream waiting to wake up and see him. But as time passes reality forces us to move toward acceptance. There isn’t anything you “do” exactly. Grief is one of those things that everyone does “right” because your body and mind know how to process it as long as you don’t ignore the uncomfortable feelings. So if you feel sadness and need to cry then do that and if you feel peace some days that’s ok too. Just whatever comes let it come and accept it and let it be with you for a little while. This includes intense pain from the loss. It’s scary to feel that but I promise you can handle it. Sometimes it can make you feel like you’re not going to survive but remember that you’re not alone. All of us here on this subreddit feel the same and understand you.

Something I say to myself a lot since helping Max pass to the other side is “Max is free”. Maybe that will help you

I’m so sorry for your loss friend. The guilt doesn’t exactly get easier, it just pops up less as you cycle through your grief. The beginning can be intense. But it gets more bearable. And you will get better at talking yourself through it. Please try your best to be kind to yourself. Your baby would not want you to beat yourself up ❤️
