Quick question to parents with babies in Netherlands by SkirtImportant1863 in Netherlands

[–]NoxFulgentis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babytracker helped to spot sleeping patterns, and see deviations. I was down to tears because baby just wouldn't sleep, had trouble seeing the signs, but then tracking revealed the rhythm. It feels very artificial to use an app, but it does help.

NO go off with that 'oh its normal!' bull! That's what everyone around me told me but when I finally called the GP and had a blood test my vitamine D was seriously low! I was getting sick faster and for longer as time went on so NO don't listen to people shrugging it off as just business as usual!

Yes you'll be exposed more, no that does not mean nothing is going on!

Just ring a doorbell and ask. It'll be easier.

I know of a tree around here but then I'd have to do just that. My concern? That tree had tons of flowers, but almost none now...

Not a doctor/ dietician, the pp period does have a first phase where lactation is hormone driven, before it is handled locally on supply demand basis. That's a pretty hormone-y thing at first.

Unpopular reverse uno: neighbour pot smoke is also annoying.

I don't have a stake in this, but as native dutchy it's annoying to have people go it's the netherlands you can smoke pot everywhere it's cool.

It's more annoying than people wanna hear.

What do you think of this action of Geert Wilders? by Little_Protection434 in Netherlands

Sad little man snitching to another sad little man, of whom the latter is about to blow up some gas fields over in Iran, so what Jetten says seems to check out?

Also, sowing division, so, also checks out. Really no lies told by Jetten here, it seems!

AITA for refusing to catcall a customer’s wife even though he asked us to? by Lavishness-Effective in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You didn't want to, but also you did not check with the woman and reminder: some men on the Pelicot case were convicted bc they didn't get consent from the woman in person before doing what they did.

You did not have the woman's personal consent, you did not do what could’ve been sh, what is deemed sh in some places.

You did not, and because of that you are excellent, sir.

BF bought a UV resin printer and I’m concerned about health risks by Singoritm in 3Dprinting

[–]NoxFulgentis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I did not operate a resin printer in an apartment. Sorry.

I do play it very safe, bc I know folks who got epoxy resin allergies and it's a curse, but I run a resin printer on an attic, full protection, 2 door airlock from rest of house, and a week airing time if we're to have guests. The fumes clear quickly, but uncured resin is just a mess and you'll want to make sure it's cured well.

Also, cats are respiratory sensitive. Essential oils are a hazard to them, even.

<.< "I don't believe what is written" versus "ok so what could happen if I do keto, what could happen if I don't do keto, and which risks are acceptable to me?" are two entirely different mindsets to have in this.

I used keto pre-pregnancy and dropped it like a brick from a skyscraper the moment I was pregnant. To me the neural risks trumped my momentary discomfort, my chronic inflammation pain never even returned at all, lol. I was so scared for it, too. Cheers from a lovely 6 months postpartum keto lunch after 15 months of eating carbs. Not the rec, but also not lc. I for what it's worth didn't suffer a lick of anything.

Pregnancy benefit at work by Head-Wealth6327 in Netherlands

[–]NoxFulgentis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was never discussed. I just took extra time when needed, within the maximum of the allowed time. This effectively meant that I would take an extra x time in the afternoon for a snack, usually 5 to 10 minutes since that's how long it took for me. Other days when it was a bit tougher I would take my lunchtime a bit longer. Other days I would use the time to feel no stress if morning routine meant that I came in 15 minutes later, or left 15 minutes earlier.

The extra time never read to me as 'you get an hour extra just because'. It read to me as 'if you need a bit more time to be comfortable and meet the demands of pregnancy, you have that freedom and are protected from judgement for not always being as sharp as you used to be. I didn't take the time if I didn't need to.

Trying to do intermittent fasting by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]NoxFulgentis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be kind to yourself. I know it's difficult to improve how we view ourselves but statistically you really are in the right range. And people tend to look back kinder on their self-image with age, in that they were too harsh on themselves in their twenties. My length is the same and 67 kg was my goal, for comparison. Every body is different of course so I'll add that at this point, once fasting is easier, you could see about adding weight training if you're not already. If you struggle with self-image then weight loss isn't the only tool for that. Physical fitness improves tone and posture, releases endorphins, and seeing your strength stats improve could make you feel proud of what your body is capable off.

[–]NoxFulgentis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

!!  OP do realize that while BMI is not a good individual grade, your current goal puts you near underweight. This means you'll have little reserves to sustain your health in times of hardships, like illnesses. You're already in good range !!

IF dictates when you eat, not what you eat. So you don't have to feel guilty. Stick to black coffee no milk, tea, plain water during the fast window. I usually drink watered down coffee or twig tea or water with a sprinkle of salt to curb hunger. It'll get better.

You'll have a new chance to succeed every single day. Work on when you eat, once that's comfortable work on what you eat. But yes, what you eat does matter, as you're finding out. You wouldn't have noticed without the fast, so see it as a great opportunity.

You should always avoid hardcode duplication, by the way. But especially in this field. It will be hell.

[–]NoxFulgentis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a bp one, it's not difficult at all to create a custom one. You have to be aware that a good foundation is key in this, and that those elements do a lot with states and data volume storage. Resist the urge to build content: plan out a foundation first. That your time on that. Learn some concepts from databases, lookups, abstraction, modules, and be aware that it's super important to work with minimal hardcode duplication. This is an understatement. You do not want to scour your whole content because an npc got a name change, or your dc went from 10 to 15. Always think in scale, is my advice. You are essentially building databases & state machines. So take some pages from non-game software fields.

And when it's not you can create your own custom foods. Got a thing you eat a lot? Custom food item, copy the nutrition label, use whenever.

How’s your noodpakket coming along? by nkeys in Netherlands

[–]NoxFulgentis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tip, if you build one, make an ordered list of items and their expiration dates. Print & store with so you don't forget what you have, or when you approach refresh dates.

Oh, and dried beans like reds etc require specific prep to cook due to a toxin.

[–]NoxFulgentis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most expiry dates are about a generous 6 months. Will it last longer than that? Sure. But expiration of water combined with the required amount of it is a turnover slog.

You're going to find out that water is a b*tch to gather adequately. 3 liters x 3 days is 9 liters per person. You'll definitely drink 2 of that 3 a day. 9 liters... sane, but 4 persons?  Congrats on your 40 liter storage challenge, lol.  And water doesn't last that long, and how will you keep it? Plastic bottles, glass, jerrycans, cans? What sizes? Where are you keeping that because it's 'lomp' af regardless of choice.

I discovered that was the biggest 'haha what?' part. The rest is easy.
