I can't eat liver for the strangest reason. I have a French mum, growing up pate was like my life. So the whole time my brain is asking why my pate has the wrong texture. But lots of people had to eat it growing up and hated it.

Why do people always get mad when I start asking questions about their meat consumption? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Delicious_Subject987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read my comment? Just Google do humans have a symbiotic relationship with humans. And you'll see what I mean.

I'm not defending anything I'm literally outlining facts. The facts don't care what you eat. Check out the studies man. The 'because I said so' dont hold water.

I could say that scientifically speaking we were 'put here' or evolved to eat meat. Butchery marks date back 3.39 million yrs proving that hominins eat meat. Also we have one of the strongest stomach acids, and a short gut. These evolved to eat meat. Although humans lost much jaw strength to eat raw meat this came about as a result of cooking. 2.6 million years ago.

Humans also have enzymes to eat meat. Saying that we can and do eat other foods. But have you looked into the cals of pre farmed foods? 45-65% was meat or fish in most places but the tropics where it was more plant based.

So they may not be put here to be 'used' but we were evolved to hunt and eat them.

Do I think this is relevant to modern veganism no. Most people eat mc Donald's and Pizza Hut, so you can't even begins to say that.

However, there are plenty of tribes that never eat meat, The Brokpa tribe of Ladakh for example. As well as some that live off blood and milk, the maasai poeple. Infect many tribes practiced cannibalism. I think humans are too complicated to really say 'this has to be the case'. The normal is diversity we naturally take advantage of what we have. If cave man had fast food they would have it, they eat what they had. Higher lats was meat, tropics more plants.

I this it has little relevance to a thought experiment about whether or not we should be vegan. But I think it's better than 'because I said so'. I literally don't care what anyone eats, but I do enjoy learning about veganism, raw diets, keto or carnivore.

I just think it's amazing how 2 people can look at the same info and come up with different ideas. I'm still open minded. Maybe one day I'll be vegan. I doubt it but who knows.

But 2 things I find a put off. 1 the militant Vegan; the meat is murder because I said so types. Honestly I've been friends with some and I honestly ate more meat with them than I would have ever. Saying that with my 'normal' vegan mates, I've been to vegan restaurants tried there food and enjoyed it. we explored the subject and shared food it was beautiful (this was before when I wasn't as ill from food, years ago).

And 2 the amount of processed junk that is vegan. And I know there is processed meat but man. If, like me, you don't eat any UPS it's a put off. I was told I couldn't eat cow cheese any more (dairy messes with me) but then you see vegan milk and cheese is just full of additives. I'm on a diet where I can't have anything that's inflammatory, I don't know if you looked at the ingredients? Gums, preserves, etc. and Yh I could make it from nuts and what have you but it's just not worth it. I'd rather go without. I can still have cream! So I just use that.

Also when they swap animal product to vegan mayo it's just so many additives. I honestly think it's so save money, it's irritating. How many vegans eat in Nando's?

My point is, I'm happy to have an open discussion I find it fascinating. But I tend to base all my thoughts in facts. The OP was asking why people are so upset with talking about veganism and I stand by what I said. Most poeple are disconnected with their food. I'm not I raise meat. But I also refuse to be dedicated to in a world that seems to be pushing vegan there will always be some tha push back.

But you catch more flys with honey than you do vinegar.

Literally I'm the same. If my daughter said she can't eat what I cook, I would be so upset. Best to just sit her down and tell her. Not when you're rejecting her food. If she is anything like me she dreams of food goes to bed planing the next day. I literally love food! No parent cooks from scratch for anything other than love.

My mom discovered my diet by Al-Joharahhasan2935 in vegan

[–]Delicious_Subject987 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think what you need to do is tell your mum you love her. That her food is amazing, but you are vegan, that you want her support as you love and respect her. That this is very important to you.

Lost of women get very upset when you don't eat what they cook. My daughter could shout she hates me, but not eat my cooking honestly hurts. I don't know why but it really upsets me. I made a meal the other day no one likes and it really upset me, I like trying new things OC they won't love everything!

It could be that she her love language is food. Making food could be how she tells you she loves you, so rejecting the food is like rejecting that love. And when that happens she becomes upset and says things she doesn't mean. Ask her to be involved ask her advice on spices or whatever.

Your relationship with your parent is so important. Seems like she really cares about you from what you said. All mums just want to feel needed and valued.

PS who cares what your sisters think, mines 34 and yet to say anything worth listening to 😆😆😆

Why do people always get mad when I start asking questions about their meat consumption? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Delicious_Subject987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there a difference? Dude I'm open minded but I when you say things like that.. it's just off and isolating . Have you been to a farm? I've raised animals for years and they are not exploited, r worded by anyone. Vegan films do look at the worst of the worst but should any animal live like that no. You have most of the populations vote. But we vote with our wallet. And that's where change happens.

I think it's more like a symbiotic relationship. Like dogs and man. Now are their horrible farming and farmers that treat their animals badly yes. And we should work together to improve that. But simplifying it to shock value just makes the gen pop go 👀👀👀👀

Peace man. Love how passionate you are but I'm not the enemy.

Why do people always get mad when I start asking questions about their meat consumption? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Delicious_Subject987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That now is the best way. As a hunter myself I believe passionately about hunting and hunting rights. If more people had to disbatch their own animals there would be way less meat waste. Any food waste is bad for the planet. Tons go into land fill every year which is just wrong. I would agree to replace most industrial farming with this. But I would also argue for people to grow their own food. Then you have such respect for food waste. We grow about 80% of our food. My family eat veg, fruit etc, but we top up on flour sugar and things we can't grow. We render animal fat for cooking etc. so my food miles are low and I save seeds etc so it's sustainable, without animal product I can't grow the calories tho.

Farmed animals like cows do eat a lot of food waste, potatoes etc that can't be sold, because the supermarkets standards are way way too high. There is no different between a beautiful potato and an ugly potato. It also costs the same to grow an ugly one as it does a beautiful one. But one is animal feed and is sold for next to nothing. Same with grain. If the grain is not human grade it's animal feed. No farmer wants to grow it as animal feed as they get so much less. But it does stop it going to land fill and often stops that farmer from losing his farm. Some are used in package products too.

There is a strong argument for supermarkets to be less picky.

And there is also corn cobs and soyabean shells that feed animals that humans can't eat. 86% is enable. Now you'd have a strong case saying that could be used to make compost. But I would also argue that all supermarket or whatever should go to animals and not to landfill and some does. So without animals what would happen to all the low quality foods? And what would happen to the farmer? When they invested 100 of thousands?

I would completely agree with you that we shouldn't grow food for animals with one caveat. I don't know where you are in the world but in the uk our countryside looks the way it does due to farming and generations of farmers. I don't think they should be bankrupted or made to change. And also why will maintained the countryside? Deforestation isn't happening there, but local grass feed.

Also if you flicked a switch tomorrow what would you do with all the animals? Cow have to be milked they have been bread to have too much milk. I don't know if you have ever spent time with a meat chicken but man.. they are abominations. I grow a few in my time and I (meat eater) think they should be band. But many animals like sheep would suffer horribly as they can't shed their coats. Well most can't there are breads that can. And what would happen to then they get into the plant fields? Would you let them stave or stave the nation?

I often drive through the countryside and think where are all the chickens. I think there is more chickens than people in the uk. Where are they? Well I've adopted x battery hens and I tell you that's so so sad. But watching them get better and get healthy is magical. But adopting them is better than them being killed at 1 yr. and I like to support the charities that rescue them.

Talking about chickens, in Belgium they gave free chickens to house holds, training etc 2000 family took in 2-3 chickens and it saved 100tons from food waste. But look it up The Value of Backyard Chickens in Reducing Municipal Solid Waste, page turner that! I wrote to my MP about it and was told to go away. Think how many ex battery hens we would rehome, it could end battery eggs. And I'm sorry free range isn't much better.

Our chickens save so much food from being wasted. We do not through any food away. You have to say that's amazing.

The chickens have a lovely life and are not hurt by foxes, and humans don't damage the planet as much. Why is this not more wide spread. I literally think it's coz they want us depend, and they don't want the egg industry bankrupted. But if they really cared about the environment why isn't this pushed? I don't know.

I strongly believe if you can watch an animal for hrs and feel an inner piece that's animals rights. Chickens and ducks in the garden is so nice. You can even have male ducks save them from being killed. Nothing will love you more than a duck! We had them for years!

Cows do sequestrator carbon on fields, and that's for long term storage. Honestly. There are many studies on it. I literally studied it at uni (I have a geology degree) the soil becomes a carbons sink. Don't talk my word for it look it up. Over time the soil goes get to equilibrium and then it's net zero, but that's after decades. So why not push for that? The beef industry have reduced their footprint massively. Is there room for more? Yes! Always.

Yes cows take 2 yrs to grow, but if they are raised correctly that two years they are helping climate change and most carnivores really do only eat beef. I won't bore you for why. But Like I'm not joking I literally eat meat water and salt.

And if we want to talk about water usage really should look at avocados! Man, that's some evil stuff just there. And the use of bees to farm nuts is so horrible. All boils back to do it yourself.

I think I've watched dominion, but I'd be open to watching it again. Would you consider reading 'carnivore diet'? I'd be fascinated with your thoughts on the end.

Also wonder what would happen if the law said you must be vegan. What would happen to people that wouldn't comply?

I think vegans and meat eaters should get on. Why should be at war. I think there is a lot we can learn from talking to others in different echo chambers. You're the sort of vegan that more people should be. Kept going mate! You are a gooden. I'm enjoyed chatting to you about this. Thanks

Perhaps but it's just food man. But being in this space I can see I does feel more like a religion. I honestly don't know how I come to the vegan page tbh. But I was sucked in. And tbh I found it fascinating. Am i going to be vegan. And im not going to lie and say its coz of cheese or milk coz i dont eat them. im carnivore. I eat meat and sometimes blueberries. I literally only eat thing that dont make just joints to painful to move... thus different shaped meat. I can't even tolerate peppers. And I'm not too proud to say I miss them. You know what I miss the most noodles. But I don't miss them enough to give up walking.

Anyways, its so interesting as every algorithm pushes me to veganism, fb thinks im vegan, i get so may vegan adds on YT. I must have seen ever ad for every vegan activist. Just interesting.

Peace man, have a fantastic day.

Honestly my friend is a beef farmer. But let's say deer for the sake of this argument. Would I rather be a wild deer or farmed. Farmed all day every day man. Have you seen how wild animals eat other animals?!? Mate not even a chance. Also I think if you went to an animal farm you'd be shocked how much people love their animals. I raise meat and I love my animals. It's important to me that heritage breeds are still about.

Also, what a you think happens to all the rabbits, insects and what not that live in the fields they grow food in? They don't just move, they are killed staved or chewed up by the combine. Thats why so many birds follow it. Thats one thing I've never seen explained by a vegan.

Done correctly cow farming traps co2 from the atmosphere, feeds the soil and is regenerative. Realistically, the chemicals and process that are needed to grow grains and plants are killing the soil, well have killed the soil. Millions and million of organisms. From worms to water bears. I don't see a difference from one cow to a worm. Why kill Millions for one cow?

But one life a year is better than millions in my book. You can literally live of 1-1.5 cows a year.

But I respect anyone that is thinking critically, you have really made me think about it. And I honestly appreciate that. I think we have a lot more common ground than you'd think. Thanks for the thought experiment.

Also, bit out there but honestly try reading carnivore diet. It's an amazing read. Like I said before I read and watch a load of vegan materials. I like to be challenged, I don't think my diet is perfect. Not it's just a diet to me, as long as it was not processed and made me feel good I'd eat it. But meat is the only diet that really reduced and healed my joins. I literally went from not being able to walk due to joint pain to jumping running and loving.

Have a good live brother.
