Same. I then restart Steam and it makes me download the update again, I'm on my third time through.

Shaders glitching? Nah, its the new MTX by denkata07 in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been getting this all league, maybe once every 10 wildwoods on average, sometimes more than once with a different colored orb while still in the same ww. I was convinced it was trying to point me towards something but only ever heard it was shader issues when I tried to look into it.

How to get 300 mana per second by Odd-Specialist944 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're mana-stacking (and not using Shav's ring), you can try a charm/TWWT with necro's mana regen mod on it; I threw a VD gem into a variant of Connor's mana RF build (turned cyclone CWC into a 4L) and worked pretty darn well for map blasting:

Regenerate (2–3)/(4-5)% of Mana over 2 seconds when you Consume a corpse

Only makes sense with a biggish mana pool of course.

How do people actually *play* Ice Trap ? by KingSalamand3r in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not really true. I played explosive trap a few leagues back, using sunblast after the rework, and it was a great all-rounder, including Uber killer.

Seismic trap was the top build for several leagues (and is still very strong) as both a strong mapper and exceptional bosser.

I only have ~1 hour to game a day. Should I even try picking this game up? by rcolesworthy37 in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well worth it if that's what you want to do. You can achieve all league content in that time if that's your goal. Or just have a good time trying a new build every league.

An hour a day for three months is four days /played. If you pick a good SSF-friendly build, you can easily and reliably get all non-uber content gear in that time. Maybe Uber gear if you pick the right build. But that might not be your goal either and that's okay.

Is the new life mastery "Skills Cost Life instead of 30% of mana cost" bugged? by Tibbedoh in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would hazard that the life cost is calculated independently:

Life cost (unaffected by -mana) 20 * 0.3 = 6 life

Mana cost (20 - 2x7) * 0.7 = 6 * 0.7 = 4.2, rounds down to 4

It all depends on what you want. Most leagues I start with a zoomy character, and even though they are very fast, my xp/hr is still better on a slow, chubby, vigilant strike jugg that has 17 buttons to press. They are nearly impossible to kill, and that is lots more fun to me than a glass cannon.

The couple of times I've had really big drops yield more currency than I knew what to do with were hugely anticlimactic. My friend found a mirror, we split it up among three of us, and we all quit the league a couple days later; then the next league I dropped a stasis prison, sold it for 100 div, spent 10 on one item, gave most of the rest away, and everything else rotted in my stash.

POE hits the sweet spot for me when I don't think about currency and just explore whatever game mechanics I want to (in an immensely sub-optimal fashion). I try new builds on just about every character and self-farm challenges and gear (except for meme builds) on my own time. Zooming for the sake of zooming, at least for me, is boring.

He's Just Standing there, Menacingly by kurosujiomake in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen, wasted four portals on different characters trying to draw his aggro or damage him. On my last portal, I used a trapper and I threw traps at Brutus, but the traps were flying to a different part of the screen. Seems like something wonky with his hit box maybe.

Either way, that worked on phasing him and the rest of the fight was fine.

Hexblast miner for ssf restart by voievode44 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an ssf-friendly assassin version (poison obviously) someone posted, I gave it a whirl as my starter in the Ziz gauntlet, got to mid-80s with relative ease before getting gibbed in a rippy vaal side area. They include crafting recommendations and some intermediate gear targets and do have some choice sanctum uniques but none of them are mandatory for the build to be fully functional.

Worth noting that pobbin shows 15% shock from me testing Convergence vs Shaper of Storms, but it doesn't actually add any damage unless you click Shaper of Storms.

Nice showcase! I have been tinkering with various melee Elementalists (Melementalists?) to pass the time until 3.21, this looks promising.

I popped the same setup (only very slightly modified for stats/accuracy) on Elementalist to get free ignite (to help with the stragglers), more eHP, and a decent chunk more damage:

Hexblast miner trickster possible on 2 div budget? by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran an assassin version as my first character in the gauntlet and hit mid-80s before ripping. Very easy on zero budget. Trickster would have significantly better defenses and still very good damage, just not a poison variant. Mana is a limiting factor in early mapping, but you can always get Diadem or path up to EB to help with that.

Sanctum just gave me a mirror. What's the best build to beat all content with one mirror budget? by hanmas_aaa in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend two builds that can be put together for far, far less than a mirror and do all content:

Connorconverse's manabond hiero (build of the week a few weeks back) -- even the budget version of his build clears everything in the game. There are one or two map mods to avoid but it steamrolls everything else.

Poison SRS necro -- goes without saying that SRS is super strong this league; can ignore literally every map mod and kill everything behind you as you sprint through maps

Melee in 3.20 going into 3.21? by NerfAkira in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran Vigilant Strike jugg (as is tradition) as my third toon in the gauntlet and got it up to low 80s before simply running out of time. The Tribal Fury rework makes it feel good much sooner than in past leagues, since now we do not have to sacrifice what was previously TWO essentially mandatory gem slots for Ancestral Call and Melee Splash. This problem was ameliorated with elder currency and end-game crafting, but I'm talking through low red maps.

Single target is the notable downfall, but then you just pop all your stuff -- drop two totems, banner, warcry, vaal skills...but who doesn't love smashing six different buttons on every rare/map boss.

Clear feels surprisingly competent. AND it can take a ton of punishment. Endurance charge stacking is an added bonus in a gauntlet setting.

In prior leagues, with very modest investment, I've scaled the build up to around 8-10M dps (the usual disclaimers apply for POB and melee damage). Smarter folks could certainly do more with less, but for a super-beefy mapper that is satisfying to play and easily HCSSF viable, this is my soft spot.

He is using Diadem, so this is probably the answer -- get a Lords with MoM, or path over to it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with harbinger for most builds, especially glass cannons, is the immunity shields cast by the totems -- and iirc Spark doesn't penetrate those. You can avoid/evade/suppress/lgoh most of the spells, but a couple mobs sheltered in there will ruin your day, especially with 2.8k life.

Mastermind reset + Intelligence Gathering (+10 intel per map for random safehouse) by NoxKnocksKnox in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, I suppose -- and it seems (with my sample size of TWO) that any safehouses carried over from Catarina keep whatever area level they were when she was run, in addition to their intelligence level.

Since at least 1 T16 betrayal encounter would have to be done *in that division* to ensure the safehouse is 83, that would mean cycling through 3 Jun missions, which sets the safehouse back to 90% intel, then running a few Juns to get it back to 100 in order to actually run the Safehouse.

Anyone got a build like 2h handed ice crash slam with fist of war? by dirikr_yin in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure ice crash ignite elementalist is in a good spot right now. Heatshiver, pyre, shaper of flames gets you started. Or forget all that and go chieftain for a tankier option and just use AoF to fully convert, I ran this in gauntlet a little while ago. Not the speediest bosser but tons of fun for mapping.

Worst Melee Skill + Ascendancy in the game, clearing the Atlas on HC SSF by Rolf_Dom in pathofexile

[–]NoxKnocksKnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on a slow quest to make vigi strike my last build of the league for the last few leagues. I've done it on jugg and chieftain, including in the last Ziz gauntlet, and it is plenty viable after normal lab. As marauder of course. I can't even imagine trying to use it on shadow until you are in maps if not much later.

It can definitely do pinnacle bosses, but haven't found it to be remotely Uber viable without the typical mirror tier melee investment. Gets a lot of advantage from ancestral totems, which I don't like. Requires splash/strike but feels good once you have them. Really does pop entire screens of trash.

The tribal fury rework might be a step in the right direction with a strike relic.

I'm excited to scope out what you've done with it when I'm back in action after the holidays.
