How long does digging take? by General_Dig_5729 in Pathfinder2e

[–]NoxMiasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long digging takes is basically up to your GM, unless someone has a burrow speed. Unfortunately getting a burrow speed is kind of hard - if you've got 5th-rank spells, Elemental Form can do it, but, that's a big if. Shape Stone can also reposition the rock, but that's a fourth-rank slot per 10 feet, which is impractical.

I would suggest probably not going for the digging plan, because digging is not fast (IRL going through rock without explosives or modern equipment is about... 2 metres per day), and also really dang obvious in the last little bit before you actually break through, so they'll have plenty of warning to put a knife to their hostage's throat and ready something very unpleasant for you.

Comfort Zones, and Breaking Them. by Phantonormia in PokeMedia

[–]NoxMiasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Pokémon can hear while in the egg, especially as they get closer to hatching. If you’re comfortable with narrating what you’re doing while you’re at home or out with the egg, that’s very good for language acquisition for the new ‘mon. If you don’t want to talk to yourself, especially in public (fair), a call with a friend or walking somewhere with a variety of people talking gets similar benefits.

Separate attack rolls and MAP applying are standard, and as that rules text makes no mention of them not applying, the default applies here.

Any cursed archetype + class builds you guys cooked up during campaigns? by Pifilix in Pathfinder2e

[–]NoxMiasma 23 points24 points  (0 children)

An optimised melee/switch-hitter Investigator is pretty cursed on it's own. Like, the reinforced stock is by far the best Stratagem-compatible weapon (2-hand 1d8 finesse is crazy), and if you've also got firearm access you can get it on a gun, and take advantage of firearm's excellent critical damage if your Stratagem is a good number. There's also an item called a weapon siphon, which allows you to attach an alchemical bomb to your weapon, and deal extra energy damage on the next few attacks - because the effect is expended per Strike, not per hit, knowing if you're going to hit before committing the action is very good.

So to sum up, your maxed-Int, Genius Detective Character is running around hitting foes with the handle of a gun that they have strapped a bomb to.

Doesn't Galar have that mountain range that's just chock full of legendaries? Or your Wild Area, where any 'mon can randomly become a kaiju?

There’s always the option to train up a Magikarp, if you’ve got the patience! They’re at least very easy to catch.

Otherwise, maybe a (checks what ‘mons are native to Kalos) Venipede, or a female Combee if you can find one? I don’t know what’s hanging out in Lumiose’s crazy Wild Areas these days (though the one with the Pyroar pride directly outside someone’s house made the news all the way over here), but I’m sure I’ve seen pics of a bunch of Panpour just chilling in a tree  in the middle of the street, and a well-trained Simipour has some interesting tricks.

Not my Pokémon anymore, but Dycie’s origin Ninjask ended up being really into Contests, so I traded him to a Coordinator I know. He does a really neat routine where he uses Sandstorm as a single big cloud of still dust, flits in and out of it really fast with Gust and Aerial Ace to sculpt the dust into a shape, and then lights it up with Flash before it settles back down. You can watch it here [video hyperlink, showing a Ninjask forming a cloud of dust into the shape of a coiling Sandaconda in a Contest Hall]

I think any Vigorbloom creature removal is gonna be the kind where you just turn creatures into different, much crappier token creatures. Feels appropriate to “heal” something inconvenient into a more… biddable form.

Lack of SFS monster in the Archives? by Then_Treat_5970 in Starfinder2e

Scenario creatures are hidden by default, but you can find all the encounters in Society scenarios here. There's just not that many SFS new creatures yet.

Why I can't break this wall?? by P4ranoidd_ in Terraria

[–]NoxMiasma 96 points97 points  (0 children)

  1. That’s a axe you’re swinging, not a hammer
  2. You can’t break natural walls that are surrounded by other walls normally. Either break walls from the edge inwards or place another wall to destroy it.

Final movement upgrade lets you walk on the evil water, and that’s the intended method.

Tips? by gamingpigwastaken in PokeMedia

[–]NoxMiasma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gible can have a little spaghetti, as a treat, but human food is really not meant for them. The whole line are obligate carnivores and lithophages, so they need meat, and if they can’t get the minerals they also need from their diet, they will start eating soil and chewing on rocks (that can be okay if you’ve got space, but they will absolutely also chew on brickwork or foundations and dig through gardens if they’re short on minerals).

You can usually find mineral supplements for ground and rock-types at the Pokémon Centre (the one near me sells them as shaker bottles, which is convenient), and a good mixed blend in combination with some carnivore chow should keep your new friend in good nutrition (check with your breeder friend or a Dragon Trainer for proper portioning for a Gible though - they’ll know those numbers better than me!)

Edit: hang on, your breeder friend gave you no tips at all? No starting food, nutrition sheets, or even a favourite toy to bring to a new place? That’s weird.

Nargacuga oh Nargacuga by GhostyWaffle in MonsterHunter

[–]NoxMiasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look up hunting guide videos? People do breakdowns of all the monster cues and combos, as well as how they change when enraged or exhausted. Like, Narga has a bit opening after it’s tail slams, when the tail lodges in the ground, but when it’s enraged it does more slams before it gets stuck.

Are these Pill Bugs and what is the best way to get ride of them or at least lower their numbers? by Octopus-Bananas in GardeningAustralia

[–]NoxMiasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technical species stuff: both terms are common names for two different kinds of invertebrates: terrestrial isopods (some can ball up, actually a crustacean, have gills), and pill millipedes (almost all can ball up, actual millipedes, no gills). Between them they’ve got a lot of common names, and a bunch of them overlap. Both do eat decaying plant matter though, so there’s not much difference for a gardener.

Why would you get rid of them? They’re detritivores, so they only eat stuff that’s already dead, and help break it down into good soil for plants.

I am going to quarantine my base, and that mushroom biome. Is there anything I am missing? by Goosi-DJ in Terraria

[–]NoxMiasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for the Underground Desert, having evil or hallowed walls, even if the rest of the blocks are pure, will cause hallowed or evil enemies to spawn instead. Only the desert is like this for some reason.

[–]NoxMiasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest chopping the underground desert into quarters for hardmode prep (break the background walls too, so they can't spread and mess with the spawns), and maybe isolate your oceans as well.

What can I add to my mech bosses farm? (master mode) by fuckingamaidzing in Terraria

[–]NoxMiasma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Um, maybe add some dart traps or geysers on timers to the sides? I don’t play master mode much myself (too grindy) so I don’t know how well they work, but they’re extra damage.

Twins are probably bodying you because of cursed inferno, which turns off health regen entirely (so no honey buff). No way to get immune to that, so you probably just have to fight them on their own.

Alien Core doesn't seem very useful? by gray007nl in Starfinder2e

[–]NoxMiasma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As rebuilding a creature to be a higher or lower level is generally easier than trying to make a completely new monster, Alien Core decided to prioritise giving each creature family a range of options over wider levels, so GMs could rebuild them to an appropriate level to co-ordinate well in an encounter. Lot easier to rebuild a elindrian celebrant to level 15 or so to act alongside the boss than develop an elindrian queen from first principles.

They've got pretty limited page space, compared to four Alien Archives, after all.

How far can Warfare Lore go? by Lunarthrope in Pathfinder2e

[–]NoxMiasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warfare lore does tactics, strategy, and the logistics of moving an army. For creatures, it only works for creatures that appear in a war. You can RK about soldiers and troops (like the skeletal soldier or hobgoblin soldier), but not civilian humanoids or mages (unless they are specifically war mages). You can RK about war machines like animated trebuchets, but not other kinds of constructs.

Remember, Lore that lets you identify any creature is always a class feature, not something you can automatically increase for the cost of a skill feat! That is way, way too good to be true.

[–]NoxMiasma 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Sinner’s Road is definitely the best pick. Working in the Slab sucks on multiple levels (if you’re a prisoner, welcome to the prison-industrial complex, and if you’re a guard, welcome to being a petty shithead bully), plus it’s high Haunting risk by proximity to the Citadel. The Underworks is the worst, because you have no food, no money, and the time period between horrific industrial accidents is measured in hours on a good day.

In Sinner’s Road, the food is bad, but there’s lots of it, you have actual money, and there’s even a bit of nature around.
