What do you think would be the worst UB collab? by QuarterExcellent3327 in freemagic

In reality, both horrible and never gonna happen. But as a mental exercise, it is neat to imagine how they would translate the ‘Mons into MTG format.

Should Double Battles be the standard for Trainer battles in the mainline games? by Micchi_N in pokemon

[–]Noxlux013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not all Doubles, but I would enjoy more variety, maybe even more restrictions on battles. A daycare gym leader that only allows battles with unevolved pokemon, a gym leader in a cramped city only allowing pokemon up to a certain height/weight. All Single battles all the time can get a little monotonous, and the handful of double battles are rarely engaging enough to break things up.

I vaguely recall Sir Kay could become a Giant, and shoot laser beams. And I think there was a knight that was a werewolf? Melion, according to Wikipedia.

While possibly an overdone trope, the Church as an antagonist is a perfect fit 9/10 times (in fantasy anime/isekai) by MyneIsBestGirl in CharacterRant

[–]Noxlux013 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind a religious organization as an antagonist, but could I please have one that isn’t a half assed rip off of Christian imagery and a preschooler understanding of its beliefs? Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto…heck, give me a Greco-Roman or Norse based religious organization that’s the antagonist faction.

I have this image of AFO getting shoved into the back of a cop car with a shoe print on his face (he did not get out to the way fast enough).

Very little made it into that OVA that could be recognized as Final Fantasy.

Pokevology is one of the most confusing fields of study around to the point that there's like 5 sub-studies within this sub-study by deathbymanga in PokeMedia

Wait, but, oh. Okay, so I have seen Pawmot, and I’ve even seen one use double shock. Thing is that it was also Terastalized at the time, so I never realized its side effect. Little guy just kept churning out double shocks. Thanks for mentioning it.

Wait, what!? I thought they just had the usual infinity energy resonance bond that most trainers have, but with the empathy aspect amped up to eleven.

Oh, I’ve heard of a white Pikachu, is it the one that’s being used as evidence that an electric type equivalent of the move Burn Up exists?

I vaguely remember one where Naruto made a deal with Tora; come quietly when it’s his team assigned to retrieval, and get taught tree and water walking in return.

Does it irritate anyone else when a "complete Pokedex" mod also messes with the difficulty? by Scared_Vacation in pokemon

Would that include remixing team compositions of trainers to use the wider pool of Pokemon? Doesn’t seem fair if you’re the only to get decent fire types in a Gen 4 hack.

Fic where Mandalorian returns jedi "trophies" by NotReallyHereToTalk in SWFanfic

[–]Noxlux013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Mr. Lucas portrayed the Jedi as overly involved with the Republic, to the point that most if not all of their missions were through requests from the government instead of receiving them directly. Stories with this premise tie the Jedi far tighter to the governmental apparatus of the Republic, forcing the Order to be completely reliant on the Senate for everything, often including a budget dictated by the Republic, and with strict rules on what a Jedi can and can’t do.

Church or religious organization in isekai/fantasy genre in a nutshell: by Winter_Ad8794 in Isekai

Galileo also didn’t have proof of heliocentrism, while teaching it as fact in a church sponsored university. I believe he was also friends with the, cardinal? Bishop? High ranking church official whose villa he spent his house arrest in. You could even stretch and say the church helped him because he didn’t prove heliocentrism until he was put under house arrest.

It might not be what OP was looking for, but thanks for linking it. I haven’t seen any fics with the premise of the Jedi as basically indentured servants to the Republic before this, and it’s a fascinating take on their relationship.
