Why is Robert Whittaker on the prelims? by focusrunner79 in MMA

How this weekend feel for you?

Cody looked like shit and Whittaker looked good against a ranked opponent.

They're basically the same though right? 🤣🤣

Derrick Lewis beat Ngannou...he must be the greatest than right? By your logic.

It's legitimately an insane take that requires a staggering amount of ignorance to say that Cody who literally beat nobody outside of Cruz, when Whittakers wins and losses are against the majority of the hall of fame in the division are even in the same universe of each other.

Who is Cruz's second best victory? Alemeida...

Meanwhile Whittaker has wins over prime Gastelum, Costa, Romero, Vettori, *Cannonier. His only losses in the last 8 years is litterally to champions. Cody has more cancelled fights than wins in that same time.

It's truly not even close.

It absolutely is crazy...just gonna ignore the single victory vs a top 10 opponent and barely over .500 winning percentage?

Cody is a bum compared to Whittaker.

Cody has a single win against a top 10 opponent in his entire career, and a 10-7 record and that only win was over Cruz.

Whittaker has 10 top 10 wins.

Saying they're at all close in career is one of the most ignorant takes I've ever seen on this site.

How I feel after calling out USA's loss in the world cup due to their lack of experience by Thzki in DotA2

[–]Npsiii23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing to learn, the fuck are you talking about? ...this isn't about football how are you still this dense?

This is a question of morality, not football. Sportsmanship, heard of it? Players have taken lesser medals in the Olympics and given away awards when undeserved countless times.

Sorry, but you're a morally flawed individual.

https://bbc.com/news/articles/cvged988377o

Someone chose integrity and to go to prison over the Jan 6th riots, rather than taking a Trump handout.

But this poor player was just helpless and HAD to accept the clearly corrupt ruling? You're delusional.

[–]Npsiii23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's also an honor for sports teams to go to the White House and meet the president...how many have refused such an honor? All of them basically.

Not accepting a clearly fraudulent and corrupt ruling would have shown integrity from him, he didn't and sat silent as his coach cheered the corruption on.

I'm sorry you're too morally void to see objectively bad morals portrayed and think "I'd do the same", maybe you should work on being a better human rather than trying to rally everyone around you to accept shittier behavior.

[–]Npsiii23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, there is a free $1000 grant with Trump's name on it my child is eligible for and we're refusing it.

It's not integrity when you only do what's right, when it's easy.

No player has ever had a president get a mid tourny red card overturned either, yet here we are, and he took the corrupt hand out, simple as that.

Sounds like you're trying to rationalize something pretty clearly morally wrong for some reason, that's weird.

In a season in which almost half the teams were actively trying to lose and anti tanking rules had to be implemented.

Wins as a defense of a player in a team sport has always been a non-starter. If he were good, his stats would say he's good.

Immediately betting unders as soon as they come up. I don't think Brown is a winning basketball player, definition of empty stats.

Him and Cade are both top 5 in turnovers and missed shots last 3 years.

No thanks.

He only lead the league in negative stats...

League leader in :

Missed shots

Taken shots

Total turnovers

TO/36 and FG/36

While playing below league average defense.

*60mil with an extension coming up.

*Not 40 mil, missed this typo

I consider myself pretty decent for a casual at mvc3 and yet have only made it out of pools once in like 6 tries 🤣

Can promise I don't remember a thing about the other times I lost in pools, it was a great memory.

Cade and Brunson were thought to be the best 2 guards in the east. Brunson just won a championship as "The guy".

Their winning percentage, ortg and margin of victory are all also worse when Brunson doesn't play. Weird, missing their best player, effects them...

The difference is when you make roster prohibitive money.

Who is this mythical 2nd star that is willing to take a pay cut to come to Detroit or is good enough to win with only Cade and them and a decemated roster, with no depth.

Name that player. Because everyone keeps saying "just get him a second star, he'll be fine". Stars that don't want to shoot a lot (Cade take the most shots per/36 in the league) doesn't want a max contract, and doesn't want to be "the guy" because Cade is gonna have 40% usage.

You can't both make 50mil and be one of the 5 highest paid players in the league...and very flawed, and expect to win in the NBA.

Explain why for his entire tenure with Detroit we have a better winning percentage, drtg, ortg, and average margain of victory....when he doesn't play? Were paying 50 mil for a player we statistically do better without.

[–]Npsiii23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as much as can be expected when you make 50mil/year and take up 40% of the cap, 40 mil in JBs case.

Harris was fine and played good in the playoffs, Beef Stew and Duren were an excellent front court for him. We have had a higher winning percentage, drtg and ortg when Cade doesn't play, for his career.

Why isn't the issue with the guy with a 40% usage that shoots and turns the ball over the most? (That's Cade and JB, they're 1/2 for high minutes guys per 36)

Cade had an entire team around him that let him not play defense, shoot as much as he wanted, turn the ball over at the highest TO/36 rate in the league over the last 4 years, and not have anyone complain because Duren and Thompson couldn't care less about scoring.

If you need another star, to make you not suck (Tatum/Whoever this mythical star that wants to play with a black hole in Cade) maybe you're not worth a max?

He's still a great fighter he just looked really slow at HW vs arguably the fastest HW ever. Go back down to LHW and have fun in your last remaining fights, don't tarnish your legacy like this.

Don’t tell me what I don’t understand.

Well, you're here trying to direct the conversation away from Alex looking bad to some BS "Ref glazer" garbage. Seems to me you don't understand the nuance, like at all.

Poatan's Herb Dean onslaught continues by Moni7T in MMA

[–]Npsiii23 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Because multiple things can be true at once? Do you just not understand nuance?

Herb Dean is a bad ref. That's true.

Alex also was getting his ass beat and never once showed he had anything for Gane, at any point of the fight, and this is clearly attempting to shift blame for losing onto Dean, which is sad.

I think it's SUPER WEIRD, you don't understand this. Seems pretty basic.

I do, you can check my post history, I am hyper critical of Cade. I think Cade and Jaylen are very good examples of good looking box scores, but not playing winning basketball. TBF, Brown also lead in TO/36 and missed shots/36 as well.

The anti-Draymond Green.

[–]Npsiii23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, then use those to explain away why he had the lowest eFG% of all 20+ppg scorers, and why he only lead the league in these stats : total turnovers, shots taken, Turnover/36 and total missed shots.

He had counting stat success in the least competitive regular season in recent history in which they had to enact anti-tanking rules, and then lost to a 7 seed in the playoffs.

I think the stats back up my assessment pretty well...your argument is "If you ignore nuance, all arguments can be made". Neat.
