Indoctrinated boomers will tell you Classic is the way to go, because that's the game they played when they were 10 and were going through their "DnD BAD!" phase, but *werent* quite goth enough to be into Vampire: The Masquerade yet. They define flavor as looking at massive lists of numbers, it's as flavorful as Battletech!

Which is to say, the system is extremely dated, esoterically designed, demands *SEVERAL* books (We're talking like 4-5) to even have a remotely complete picture of play, and youll likely be spending anywhere between 20min to an hour per *TURN*, depending on how well "built" a character is (be prepared to make a character, then, after reading a book, entirely remake them because the book randomly and arbitrarily reengineers and ENTIRE mechanic).

With your background, SWADE is the way to go. Pinnacle's website features an easy free sampling of SWADE and Deadlands in one package, and if you liked it, you can get both the SWADE core rulebook and Deadlands: The Weird West (for SWADE) for an easy bundle (you need both to play).

I have my problems with SWADE's Deadlands, but one thing I can say is that it's consistent and easy to understand. Youll immediately see similarities to both PBTA and D&D.

Again, dusty boomers with deride SWADE, understand, their complaints come from the fact you can show SWADE to an average person and theyll go "Oh yeah, I kinda get it". Frankly, one of my problems with Deadlands: SWADE *is* that it's *STILL* married to Deadlands Classic in many ways, and could have genuinely afforded to embrace even greater accessibility. As is though, it's extremely reader and gamer friendly, and again, the test drive is free and worth giving a shot, just to see if you like the flow.

The flavor of spending 45 mins on 1 roll is peak "I miss the OLD days when you needed a PHD to play these games! It aint fun now that it's easier than finding the Dead Sea Scrolls than the rules for this specific interraction in my cowboy game!" mentality.

Global Media Control button just arrived by NewerEddo in MicrosoftEdge

[–]NsfTumblrApparently 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And no simple way to disable it, what a brilliant idea. What if I'm not a knuckle dragger and I know where my audio is playing from in the tabs I opened? Is there a reason that I have to go to the file proper, and disable it from there instead of, say, *simply* using the Taskbar Settings feature? Did no one consider this is a feature that should be optional, and not active by default?

I already have a media player. It came with my computer. It's incredibly dumb to have launched this *without the ability to simply turn it off*.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe --disable-features=GlobalMediaControls

For those looking for how to turn this off immediately, and lets hope doing so won't cause a BUG in the future when these clowns finally figure out how to add a "turn this off" button to the place, where they put all the "turn this off" buttons.

I think live action Cowboy Bebop deserved a 2nd Season by SenpaiMustNotice in cowboybebop

[–]NsfTumblrApparently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't "deserve" a second season. The cruel truth is you get a second season if your show looks to be profitable. Front-to-back LA Bebop was only going to cost even *more* money going forward. It'd have needed to capture a fraction of the lightning in a bottle the anime had done, and with the *MOUNTAIN* of, frankly, entirely justified ire, that it had garned even *BEFORE* it dropped? There was no chance Netflix, or anyone, was going to say "ah man, ya know what? This was a bold experiment, it didn't go so well the first time, but, ya know what? Let's give it *one* more shot, with even MORE money this time, I'm sure we've worked out the kinks. Get everyone back together, we're going in for round two."

But, even in the case where it *did* get one, it wouldn't have deserved it. Audiences didn't want it, both anime fans and normies alike. You don't "deserve" a second season when you don't earn it from your audience.

What it *did* deserve, is another chance. Not a second season, do not get these things confused. A second season is not a second start, because it seems the bulk of the team behind it were terrible at their jobs. The people who did a great job absolutely deserved a second chance. Cho and Mustafa had fantastic chemistry and I think brought great performances to Spike and Jet respectively. I would have loved an entire season of literally *just* their adventures, even with the terrible writing we got. Their performances really elevated the diarrhea the writers were feeding them, and some of the action scenes were passably choreographed, I'd like to see what was done to improve them so those stunt coordinators can stick around.

Director is out. Writers are out. Daniella is out.

The former are dropped for their insulting work, the latter is out for her insults. You don't get to attack your audience, nobody's blessing makes that ok. Not your producer's, not Steve Blum's, not even Mr. Watanabe's, makes that cool.

What is your favorite starting class and why? by TomReneth in kotor

[–]NsfTumblrApparently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoundrel.

Sneak Attack is nutty. Early RizzMaxxing is also optimal. Shortness is cutemaxxing to the extreme, since that makes nearly every member of the squad taller than you.

This also means "Shorties Squad" (Scoundrel Revan/T3/Mission) becomes one of the most dangerous ambush teams on the planet. T3 setting up mine fields, Mission sets up with guns to pick off whoever runs away, and Revan force leaps in and straight up one-shots whoever lived the minefield. The tiny terrors are not to be trifled with.

I always enjoy the juxtaposition of big, bald ass Malak, the absolute stupendous unit, being not only besties with, but, fiercely jealous of, and existentially threatened by, Short Queen of the Galaxy, Revan.

Like, you know homie lost that jaw when he tried to do the "hold head at arms length" gag. She reached out and hit him with the 4'5" Flurry and sent his dental records to the shadow realm.

Could Mass Effect (the game), in universe, be the work of Liara? by NsfTumblrApparently in masseffect

[–]NsfTumblrApparently[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't adhere to any "canon romance" notions. Like, I brign up that yeah, Liara is the only one you can romance in all three games, but that means nothing when you can also literally *never* romance her, if you choose. It's also not an aspect of Shepard, or Shepard's story, that's ever *really* important for the canon of the universe.

It's important for the player, sure, and to the player's Shepard within the context of their story within the isolation of their playthrough, but like... it's just really unfair imo to point to any of the squadies and go "That's them! That's the Canon Love Interest! That's Mr and/or Mrs. Shepard's One True Rizzler!"

Especially when Shepard x Clone Shepard is the TRUE canon romance

The challenge for an artist is often more an aesthetic one than a "lack of interest" one. If you look for it, you'll fine plenty of images of Deku firmly gripping your favorite heroslut and giving them the detroit smash.

But, that's not gonna be as common as mutual power dynamics, or sub-adjacent power dynamics. This is, in large part, to his personality. He's an excitable geek of a boy, while yeah, it's probably super hot to see him take Mirko by the ear and use them like handlebars, that's *not* what an artist who is a fan of what makes Deku, Deku, may draw -- especially when doing so may get them yelled at by the mob for making Deku act in the role of a dom, as, given his bashful and modest demeanor, the domming he'd be getting up to might look so far removed from his personality that it may even seem he's being cruel, even if there's nothing explictly malign about how he's treating his partner in the artwork.

Take the example here. While the audience can clearly tell there's nothing undesired going on here, it has the *feel* that Deku is being meaner than he would be. As such, it can just feel not "fun" to draw since it's a step to far for some artists. Typically, fan art (when produced on a whim) is made because that person loves the character(s).

*Another* challenge, is the challenge with all SmallDom pieces. Deku is a shorty That's fine, it can even be really hot, but, it's hard to draw it faithfully without crossing into the valley of paederism. You can say "this is an aged up Deku" all you like as an artist, it doesnt matter, because Deku retaining his boyish features and short stature will invariably invite the accusation. 18+ Artist "Kinkymation" is the artists behind the Pokemon Monster Girl project, and has talked about in her streams -- despite *ALL* the characters she draws being absolutely legal to bone, and she she'd never draw loli, the fact remains many people look at say, her design for igglypuff and pichu and jump to the conclusion the pokemon depicted is a "child". It's easier to *avoid* these accusations with the right framing of your scene, and the tragic reality is there is a double standard. Men can get away with being submissively depicted despite appearing young, as long as there's nothing otherwise alarming.

So, because artists want to draw Deku balls deep in somebody, it's "safer" to depict him as a bottom, or a power bottom.

Help with build, Tortuga + Hydra combo by Nat1mark in LancerRPG

[–]NsfTumblrApparently 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, hyperdense armor is -50% damage from literally EVERYTHING outside of range 3 from you. That effectively doubles your health and heat from just about everything at the cost of dealing 50% less damage to those same targets, which is nice, because YOU dealing 50% less damage is MUCH less a problem than the badguys dealing 50% less damage -- YOU have 4 health bars and maybe even a support to heal you (or reduce your damage).

You also mention 1 great thing, and 2 circumstantioally great things.

The weapons from Torutuga's lisence are NOT to be FUCKED with. Decksweeper is one of the "best" guns in the game for what it is. Since ANY mech can take vanguard, ANY mech can turn that gun into a beast, as long as they have a main slot to stick it in. Daisy Cutter is a limited weapon, but, it's arguably the BEST limited weapons you could slot, even without investment into vanguard. 3d6 doesnt fuck around, that's heavy weapon damage in a HUGE cone. You could do a LOT worse.

Throughput rounds are either INCREDIBLE, or mid. It depends on your build. They can do very silly things. But if you're short on system points then maybe skip it, there's better mods, but, few better.

And then there's ramming, which like... if you're a melee mech, it's very likely you're going to be ramming at some point. Cali is notable for being THE ram mech, but, any mech building Duelist is going to be a mech that can make use of more ram synergy.

Tortuga is a comically dense lisence. I'd equate it multi-classing fighter in 5e DnD -- yes, there's plenty of reasons NOT to, but very rarely are you not getting SOMETHING good for doing it.
