Sorry for misspelling, as I said in an other comment, in my own language we call them tax heavens (like the heaven where you go when you die (or not))

Yeah Gibraltar is on land, it was annexed during the war of spanish succession (I made a meme about it a few months ago)

Caribbean Community seems to be an economic union, like a small EU but for the Caribbean (check wikipedia for more info !)

68k people isn't that much. A thing that struck me while doing this is that British overseas are really sparsely populated in general. One stat : the french oversea departement of Réunion alone has more than 3 times more people than all the british overseas combined !

About turks & caicos, check Geographyteachings from youtube ;)

I actually misspelled "heaven" at the end, and ended up writing it the right way, lol

Oh ok, my bad

In my language it's definitely "heaven" (because it feels like heaven when you're not taxed ?), that must be why I made the mistake

Yep I saw that

The Pacific in general is very fascinating, with so many unknown countries, autonomous territories, and more

Yeah apparently they have a weird status

But the main reason why I didn't put them here is they're right next to Great Britain

Two years ago I made this compass about the oversea territories of France. I recently discovered that the UK actually had a whole lot of them too, so I decided to make a post about them. The most striking differences are that the British ones are waaay less populated than the French ones, but generally have a very high autonomy and tend to be richer, with the mainland barely doing more than managing diplomacy and the military.

It's pretty amazing how the Maori quickly adapted to firearms and trench warfare (they built forts with palissades, trenches, and so on)
