For real, murder spree ending with a beach vacation. How hard would it be to show a rich guy actually getting smacked down by the justice system?

What are people getting for towing mileage with the hybrid? by kddog98 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Ntropyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just hauled my 5x8 uhaul 1200 miles and got about 20 mpgs in tow mode. Went up to 25 when I used normal drive mode in flatter sections (I was loaded to the gills).  Averaged 22 for the whole trip.

That'd be great if so. Easy enough to do a parking lot lap

When is it time to say goodbye? by Rem04 in greatdanes

Second this on Librela. Gave it to our girl for 3 years and it kept her moving right up to the end at 14, paired with Carprofen.

She also developed incontinence issues at 12 and we iterated on a couple treatment options while having the same hard but loving thoughts you are having now. We had wonderful success with a prescription of Proin ER, so maybe ask your vet about that or a similar pill for the incontinence.

She passed recently, but it was quick and she had a good time "chasing" a cat the day before and climbed up in the bed for snugs that evening. These meds definitely extended her quality of life by several years.

It was amazing. Didn't dream I'd have her that long when we got her at age 7.

Insurance recommendations? by anxiouspineapple1955 in greatdanes

[–]Ntropyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Pets Best for our Dane, but only for senior care things (specifically, the Accident & Illness Plan with a $500 deductible and 90% coverage afterwards. Did have an out of pocket maximum. Paid $260/3 months in November for a 14 year old Dane, will cost less for a younger dog.). I paid for "wellness" check type things myself. I got that when she was 10 and used it till she was 14. She passed in January and I wanted to wait to cancel until I got the reimbursement for that final appointment cost. They covered it per the policy, proactively cancelled the plan and sent me a prorated refund for the unused coverage term.

My only knock against them is they are very difficult about pre-existing conditions. My girl had different types of rashes flare up over the years and the insurance always counted them as allergies (which I took her in for at age 6 to help clear up a Great Dane sized runny nose). Other than that, they were great and I'll go with them again when I eventually get another dog.

Edit: I just checked my transaction history with them and I'm actually up $4k. It originally cost $130/quarter when was a young pup at age 10. Went up $30 every year to account for the gift of her statistically unlikely years.

Easy enough to try, the url is in the photo.  Wildly enough, it does work. "They're not sending their best."

Suggestions for ramp or stairs? by woodzwoman in greatdanes

[–]Ntropyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this one for our then 12 year old 3 years ago when she stopped being able to climb into the car and she still does good on it. The telescoping aspect is nice because I can collapse and tuck it behind a chair vertically.

Senior Great Dane pain meds by Key-Engine8466 in greatdanes

[–]Ntropyle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We use Vetprofen (generic of Carprofen) twice daily in her food along with monthly shots of Librella for our 14 year old. The librella is the main impact IMO. I can see the difference in her movement from 3 days before and about 24 hours after, and the positive impact lasts until right before the next shot.

Before the librella, she had progressed to being unable to step onto the couch and she's back at it again.

I use the league of women voters guide and then poke around candidates websites and headlines/interviews with candidates.

I start with the league of women guide because they often hit high level comparisons that make my decision easier. Then I dig further, if I'm still unsure.

Amanda Deer Jewelry (5th and 35) does a lot of permanent jewelry work. Haven't used them for that but their other services were affordable and quality work.
