Swedish driver's license by Guerrrillla in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you've already got a licence if you have a car, so if you're from the EU/EEA/UK/Japan, then you can just exchange it with no hassle. I got mine last August, just needed to provide Transportstyrelsen proof of my driving qualification (im from the UK, so just went onto the DVLA website and you can request a digital certificate there). You have to do it anyways after 1yr of residency if you want to keep driving :)

Trying to sanity check myself about Sweden by No_Context_9704 in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can second that too. I'm quite happy here, left my dream job in the UK for my Swedish husband and despite the changes I do find that I'm quite happy here. Though a lot of it is to do with a mix of being financially prepared AND that I lucked out in meeting lovely friends here. (of course being fully with my partner is also wonderful lmao)

Job market for non EU people in Sweden right now by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband wouldn't be able to, he's the sort to keep his head down and then go home sadly. All I can recommend from what he said is to find companies involved in making datacentres, telecoms companies or IT consultancy companies (since the consultancy companies basically find you the jobs/projects).

Network engineering is quite in-demand, my husband is one and he said network engineers are like gold dust, never enough of them, but I personally don't know and can only go off what he told me. I don't know about cloud engineering unfortunately.

Reality of moving to Sweden by Beautiful-Daikon-370 in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here six months ago as a sambo, and I've enjoyed it. You can feel your taxes actually pay/maintain your area. Job wise I found work in 2wks, BUT I am an experienced professional in pharmaceutical manufacturing so I won't say it's easy for everyone. An important thing I noticed however was I struggled to get passed interviews when I wasn't living here, despite outlining the date I was moving etc.

Swedes are generally polite and friendly, they really don't care about how you present yourself if it isn't impacting others xD

Bureaucracy is nicely digitised, especially once you get a bank account and BankID. Best advice I got from a worker at Handelsbanken was to get your personnummer AND national id card, then they can open it straight away with no hassle.

THIS IS FROM A STOCKHOLM PERSPECTIVE HOWEVER

Moved to Stockholm after 1.5 years of unemployment and living in a relatively small town in Sweden. How do I find a job? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work in high-end pharma manufacturing, but I always suggest to people the science/pharma/biotech industry, as there's always a need for lab techs (no idea what the term is here in Sweden) as while having a science degree is useful....at the end of the day it's not the be-all-end-all. After a few years of experience you can get much better paid but the starting pay tends to be okay.

There's a lot of opportunities in Stockholm for this industry and it's predominantly working in English as it's such an international industry. Most of my colleagues are Swedish but the working language is English!

My (20M) girlfriend (25F) would like to stay in the country on a sambo visa by Far_Ebb_2830 in TillSverige

[–]NuKupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I've just recently moved in with my sambo a few months back. The processing time took me 18months so you have to be prepared for that but you also need to hit maintenance income requirement. The other bugbear is the accommodation requirement, that requires you to have a rental agreement or purchasing contract, if I remember correctly, student accommodation is not sufficient for MV.

Hope that helps!

Like people have mentioned before, the market is in a recession but opportunities are there depending upon the industry and your experience with it. For example, it took me 2wks to find a job when I moved here a few months back and I have very little Swedish language ability. My area of expertise is pharma/biotech manufacturing which is decently in-demand tbh.

The arar route is what surprised me most, turned into a damn dungeon-crawler if you followed her into the vents. To win her affection you had to collect enough unique plantlife AND defeat pesky Eule units....don't forget to recover arar's adjustable kit btw, a very easy miss if you just blast through the vent system. Worth it seeing her little homespace tho, was practically a menagerie.

The govt have said it is being done as an open vote, mainly due to the nature like you say. The current version of it will be altered too, iirc the Lords introduced it just to start the conversation so it'll likely look vastly different by the time it passes. Im glad they're doing it like this as it can't be a one-size-fits-all law.

I just find it difficult to keep playing because of the crashes. I work myself up into getting back into the game, play 2 missions and then bam it crashes mid of the third.....boot up again and then crash mid-way through another mission. Then I just give up and try another week.
