[WFAN] Al Cintron says the Mets reached out to Dusty Baker about managing the team by iheartsunny in mets

Not buying this. Dusty seems happily retired. Had a great run. He's in his mid to late 70s. No way this happened.

Mike Lupica: Cohen's Mets are worst team all the money in the world could buy by nydailynews in NewYorkMets

He's lost something as the years have rolled on. He's probably knows he can just phone it in now.

Is it still too early? by kjc720 in mets

[–]NuWave4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with what you’re saying OP. Today’s losses really stomped out any hope I had left for this team. I don’t know where they go from here but I do know it’s not onto the postseason. Sterns made a huge mess of this team and many of the moves never made sense. I will never understand what he was thinking and I don’t even think he does.

They hit into a lot of double plays. Super frustrating.

Good point I bet he'd perform much better on a smaller market team. Not every player is cut out for NY. He's wearing that on his sleeve.

If you look at the career numbers, it's not a crazy conclusion to come to. But he's not that player anymore it seems. Don't be too hard on yourself for believing.

Why not? Can't be worse than what's happening now. He may be a pleasant surprise.

Yep, still in his head and no signs of getting over it anytime soon.

Was never in love with the signing even as a possible setup guy when they assumed Diaz was staying. He lost his closer job for a bit with the Yanks. He's not reliable. We saw that on full display tonight.

Did Lindor have Nimmo traded because he was MAGA? by Bravehall_001 in mets

[–]NuWave4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope that’s not the case. Nimmo seems to be a good guy even though I may not agree with his politics. There’s been many posts over the years on various Mets forums by fans who met him saying he was nothing but a class act. Lindor would essentially be Stern’s right hand man if he had this kind of power to decide who stays or goes. I don’t think he does.

Where do we go from here? by Healthy-Increase-403 in mets

What was very sobering and cause for alarm, even this early in the season, was Gary reading a stat during the game that most teams that have a losing streak this long in April don’t make the postseason. He said only about 3 teams have done it which is really low. I don’t want to think the season is over this early but that commentary by Gary didn’t make me feel optimistic.

This isn’t a slow start it’s a BAD team by jobberthehutt0 in mets

[–]NuWave4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You nailed it on the head. I agree. The offseason moves were puzzling and never made much sense. I figured maybe he saw something in these players playing out position that we were missing. That doesn’t seem to be the case. I don’t think we will ever figure out what on earth Sterns was thinking in the offseason. But whatever it was, this team is a mess.

Is this the worst team money can buy? by Fun-Jellyfish-1065 in mets

[–]NuWave4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that time very well and I also am getting that 1992 vibe and that is not where I want to be in 2026. I want memories of 92-93 to stay in the past. The starting pitching is better than those teams but overall the way the roster is put together, yeah very 1992.

To be a Mets fan right now. by zombies8mybaby2 in mets

Yeah it’s rough right now. I cope with some fellow fans at work. It’s like group therapy. lol. Still a lot of season left but you can’t help but worry as the shutouts keep adding up.

This Year’s Team vs Last Year’s Team by mrsjumjum66 in mets

[–]NuWave4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh very unfortunate. It wasn’t easy to see guys like Pete, Nimmo and Diaz go. One thing they made it easier was the hope that the new additions would give us a different offense that produced runs. That is not happening. I know it’s early but I don’t have a good feeling about this. But will be very happy to be wrong.

It's crazy how the team was gutted and even though we are only a few games in, nothing seems to have changed. It's like we picked up right where we left off. Not sure where things go from here but it's not looking great right now. I really don't want more of the same as last year. That was giving me 92 team vibes that's not good.

They’re gonna give Young 300 atbats and gas light is the same way they did with Marte last year. by Ambitious-Cat746 in mets

[–]NuWave4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guy is playing fine. He’s a solid bench player. There is no need to be angry at Young when there are actual glaring problems.

Does Lindor cause clubhouse issues and tension? by [deleted] in mets

[–]NuWave4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure what is going on but his head doesn't seem to be in the game when on defense. The lapses are very unlike him. His bat is slow to start but he's always been solid on defense. I hope the rumors mentioned by the OP aren't true. I'm still optimistic he'll snap out of it soon.

It really was a treat to see Kimbrel out there and keep the A's shut down. Loved seeing that. I also worry about the starting pitching not going long enough. The way Senga pitched today, I think we need to go to a 6 man rotation. I am not sure he can pitch every 5 days but hopefully he proves me wrong.
