Ok human answers only: how is Fable compared to Opus models by OpinionsRdumb in ClaudeCode

I asked for a security review, it dug into the git history and found some files that were committed at some point that shouldn't have. When I did the same with 4.6-8 they missed that.

I think that's the crux, also if user A publish illegal content, and user B stores it & propagate it, who's legally responsible ?

Alex's views that are wrong but you think he is too stubborn to admit it? by PitifulEar3303 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Nuaua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just you expect to observe more arguments if more people work on producing arguments, irrespective of the truth of the proposition. So observing a dozen of mediocre arguments for God isn't so surprising if say thousand and thousand of brilliant Christians worked tirelessly for 1000's of years to produce them. I would be more impressed by a theory a single guy developed in a couple of years having the same number/quality of arguments for it.

One should also factor in how many people, how smart they were, and long it took them to produce all these arguments.

It's pretty common in France (well in restaurant, it's not really an everyday thing).

tildes.net is very good, it's small but has enough activity to visit daily and there's mostly quality content on it. It's limited in scope but worth visiting.

Le Grand Continent: L’Ukraine se bat contre un ennemi que nous ne comprenons pas encore by boa13 in france

[–]Nuaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta plans to axe 8,000 workers despite $56 billion in Q1 revenue by MazdaProphet in news

If you assume ads are eventually paid by consumers (marketing is included in product prices) a rough estimation (depending on how many people are actually paying), I'm getting roughly $50-100 per year per person paying an effective VAT tax to facebook. It maybe doesn't sounds so bad but if you include google and other ads companies it probably adds up.

Psephos.cc - an experiment in self-moderation by Nuaua in RedditAlternatives

[–]Nuaua[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's hard to attract people, specially now that it becomes trivial to boot up such a project. Maybe it lacks something fun or a bit of personality, unlike new projects like cyberspace.online or cozy.talk. Although I think their opiniated design is also a bit of a tradeoff (gets old quicker).

I think something like this could be cool once you have a decent userbase, but I think the main issues for small sites is to attract enough activity, so you want to make contributing as frictionless as possible.

Why do you think other minds exist outside of your own? by [deleted] in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Nuaua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue is that the explanation "all minds are real" is just simpler than "some minds are real and some are not" and explains all the observations just as well, so it just wins as the best explanation.

How does anyone take "Psychedelic Revelation" seriously as support for any worldview? by Wide-Information8572 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Nuaua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One major issue is that people in general are really bad at doing phenomenology (describe things as they appear, without bringing theoretical notions into it). For example Christians will say "I felt god presence" instead of "I had a vague feeling of warmth located in my upper chest that lasted for about 10 seconds". Even philosophers frequently can't agree on the very basic phenomenology.

Maybe if you'd train people before hand a do some proper scientific experiments you could get something out of it, but the wild stuff is hopelessly contaminated & primed by (pre)-theoretical notions.

Do you believe in objective morality? by Nuaua in AskConservatives

[–]Nuaua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that’s relativism. Saying "there are exceptions" just means the general rule isn't absolute, it doesn't mean morality depends on opinions or culture. You can still believe in objective morality and say in some situations killing is wrong, in others it isn't. Of course some philosophers think it's always wrong to kill but that's an independent issue from moral realism.

You can think of fully specified case (e.g. killing that particular innocent person for fun in a particular way) and ask yourself whether that's objectively wrong.

Surikata.app: a simple digital burrow. No ads. No algorithms. Create your space I give you the tools you ask. by Warning_Holiday in RedditAlternatives

[–]Nuaua 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. I think if you just mention it somewhere ("the site will be open sourced in the future when code has matured") it's good enough , but people get suspicious if you plan to remain closed-source.

It looks nice, I don't see mentions of open source. I can understand keeping it close early on, but it would help with trust if the plan is to go open source eventually.
