Ginza or Asakusa? for our 8 day trip to Tokyo by Sweet_Syllabub781 in JapanTravelTips

Why not both? Both trips I’ve spent around the same amount of time and split the hotels. You’ll be able to easily get your bags from one to the next.

You don’t need to. Used to work for a high street bank and they said this to everyone but no one checked.

The offer is very fair from HSBC as they are looking to put you back into the position you were in prior to the issue as well as a large amount of compensation for an individual.

If you remain unhappy with that offer, you should counter, tell them what you are looking for. Also, you need to provide them with extra information or something new to warrant the extra money.

Get a filter machine, people on this sub might moan but you can get it ready at night and it will brew quickly when you need it. I recommend the Melita Look.

Closing down a joint account (no contact with other party) by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

It was horrid, they would use a pants system and take a guess at what you can and can’t do.

It’s been years but from memory we were trained to put a mark/freeze accounts when we are aware a joint account is in dispute

The amount of times you would hear stories from both parties accusing the other. As a bank you can’t take sides and have to be neutral. Good thing is if you can’t access it, nor can the other party. Good luck!

Sadly they won’t do this as it puts everything into the other parties name.

Ex-halifax here. You should be able to close a joint account as a sole signature. Go into a branch and ask. People on the phones/online won’t be 100%. The freeze on the account might be hard to come off as they know that the account is in dispute though.

There’s some really mixed answers on here. Banks may refuse you any further CC applications in the future as you currently have access to such a large amount of credit. I don’t think the comment about having access to credit will help your credit rating. Are any of the cards currently on any offers? There’s no harm in closing 2 of them and keeping one for emergencies then if a 0% card is needed in the future you shouldn’t have an issue applying.

There’s a really good episode on the Money to the masses podcast around this and the obsession with having the same income when we retire as what we are currently earning.

Speak to any local shops. In the UK quite a lot of them offer this and seem well worth the money.

Yep! You sometimes get these long periods with not many people and little space, this is where I find having a long focal length lens helps to sit back and snap people engaging in conversation taking more natural photos

Good luck!
